Fishing the Waupaca Chain O' Lakes

- Our stop today is at the Chain O' Lakes in Waupaca, Wisconsin. Though heavy on boat traffic in the summer months, this unique system offers excellent spring and fall bass fishing. The lakes also feature multiple boat accessible bars/restaurants, among which is the Clearwater Harbor Restaurant which operates the riverboat tours I mention in the video.

The key to fishing the chain is determining on what side of the drop the fish are preferring. While they absolutely can be caught deep and shallow at the same time, the fish here tend to stack up one or the other. If you're fishing up on top, a weightless senko worm rigged wacky style or a creature bait rigged Texas will produce fish for sure. If you have access to a boat and can fish the drop, a lipless crankbait run parallel along the drop or a football jig slowly tumbled down the drop into the abyss are irresistible to largemouth and smallmouth. The crayfish in this system have orange bellies, so keep that in mind when selecting colors. Good luck and hope this helps!

Rainbow, Round, Columbia and Long are the lakes that can be operated at any speed, there are several maps highlighting these areas available online. Thanks for watching!
