I've seen many comments about the looks of the 1290 SAS/R. Personally, I love the looks of my '22 SAS. It certainly gets notice in traffic. It looks purposeful and it is very functional.

fwiw I have the 21 in the same colour and have added the KTM PP crash bars in black. Very subtle and reassuring for those moments when you drop the bike at standstill...usually in front of a crowd ;-).
Not sure why we did not get the new colors in the USA but I don't mind too much. I like this color. I'm thinking I'll use the orange bars first and replace with the black when I crash them.

At least you can get to the air filter under the “phone box” in front of the fuel cap so no more removing the fuel tank to get to the air filter😂. Also glad KTM warranty covers any part on the bike now since 2021 warranty came out and not just the frame, swing arm and crank case like the old warranty. Nice to see them step up their game.
Yeah I would go for the prance crash bars. 😂
Still learning to ride, first bike is a KLR650 so I suspect in a year or two this will be my “upgraded” all rounder.😂

I love the look of these bikes. Definitely looking into one this summer. Any issues so far with if? Never had a adventure style. So I’m sure it will be a new experience.
So far, no, I was more fearing of electronics issues with KTM, but I rode this home in hard rain, and it did great. Heated grips and seat on as well.

Nice bike but why don't they have a lot of the mods already..I would buy tomorrow...until then more offroad courses on my 2nd GSA...been from,Alaska to Mexico in 4 1/2 days...get some crash bars.

Honestly, they are too expensive and too much trouble to install than they're worth. You'd be better off with some Clearwater lights...I chose the KTM ones to keep things OEM...they provide light but not anything amazing.
Congrats to your new bike! Best Choice ;) I have the 22 black Model and it has small stock LED turn lights on it. i´m wondering why they downgrade that... Be prepared for the new Exhauhst! It changes the compleet look of the Bike! I got the SC Project Slip On in Black and it looks and sounds so much better. The stock Exhaust is one of most horrible looking Exhausts ever :D
I wish I had the Euro LED turn signals here in the States, they wouldn't even let me order it. I will try to switch it out with the Yoshimura LED's. Yes, I cannot wait to get an Exhaust on this beast! it will just complete the look and sound.

How do you find the Arai xd4 with the screen
Do you really need a heated seat? Just wondering as my 1090R seat is hot like hell. Anything above temps of 80° is really HOT!
I never wished for a heated seat until I tried it and now it's nice to have. In times when you're riding out in the 40s 50s it does help and provide some physical and mental comfort
Do you find the riding position comfortable after a few hours? Specially compared to the GS…
I had a 1190 adv and I had to sell it after 4 months because it gave me back pain after a couple hours or so, I loved the bike and I tried everything, handlebars, pegs, PP seat, risers… but it was so uncomfortable that I decided to let it go…. Regardless all I went through, I still think KTM is the one to have in this segment 😂
I have only gone to 1 hour rides so far and have not felt any discomfort (yet). I commented plenty regarding the size of the windshield though but that is about it. on long tours I would probably install a larger windshield but ergo-wise I feel very comfortable on this bike. No stress on my arms or lack of blood circulation (which I do sometimes get on my GSA's). I am more concerned about how the Ergo seat will feel like on 4 hour stretches...Hopefully I get to test this soon.
I'd like to add that the KTM presentation about this current 1290 is that they changed the geometry of the motorcycle so maybe that could be a noticeable difference if you go and test ride one.
