Compared to other Canadian cities, Montreal offers world class arts, dining, architecture, entertainment, arts and festivals showcasing the best of Canadian culture and Canadian food. Eating poutine, watching a Montreal Canadiens hockey game for fun and taking in a mesmerizing Cirque du Soleil were the highlights of our visit. Head to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for a look at some of the free current exhibitions. We're here at Park Mount Royal to walk around and head to the lookout point for amazing city views. We chose to stay in the neighborhood of Le Plateau-Mont Royal. On Sunday afternoons you'll find a huge drumming circle on the east end of Mount Royal called Tam Tams. McGill University is one of the most prestigious universities in all of Canada. Poutine, a French Canadian dish, it is basically french fries with gravy and cheese curds on top. For a taste of French charm, wander down the cobbled streets of Old Montreal. Tonight we're at the Cirque du Soleil for a circus performance. The biodome is a popular attraction for families with children. Olympic Stadium is the former home of the Montreal Expos. The botanical gardens are home to beautiful gardens. Bell Center is home to the Montreal Canadiens, one of the most celebrated NHL franchises. There is no better place ot eat smoked meat in Montreal than Schwartz. The Notre Dame Basilica is located in the historic district of Old Montreal. If you enjoy checking out graffiti around Saint Catherine street which is also a shopping district. Eat St. Viateur bagels, which are really famous here in Montreal. A great way to get around the city is by Bixi bike. Montreal's Old Port is worth a wander. Montreal is great because there is so much to do, and nobody can get bored of it
Totally agree with you.
God, I miss home. Montreal is a city that no matter where you live, if you're from there, you'll never be able to really call anywhere else home because it is a city so dynamic that there are no others like it in North America. It's hard to describe but Montreal has a feel to it that is different from pretty much everywhere else. You can close your eyes and listen to the sounds and smells of the city and it is almost completely unique. I say almost because there is one other place where I closed my eyes and got the same feel as Montreal. It's a place that I wanted to try this all my life because I knew that it would be at least similar but it was virtually identical. That city, amazingly, was Paris. Montreal is the Paris of North America and that is an amazing thing.
Thank you! It is our favorite city in Canada for the reasons you've stated. Hope you can come home again soon.
I love Montreal, i have been there twice. I love the fresh air and walk around Saint catherine, Parks. I love Canadian because of hospitality and friendly.I am going to settle down in Montreal next year, I hope everything is going well.
Nari Kim that's great you love Montreal and best of luck settling down there soon :)
Montreal is my favorite City, it's ok to try your best attempts speaking french (if you are anglophone) Montrealais love it! It's a show of respect from one culture to the other. It's like someone in the comments said here, that hate went out years ago mes ami's.:)
Kevin Redmond It's an awesome city! My two favorites in North America are Montreal & Chicago :)
The first time i visited Montreal, the thing that impressed me the most was how people accept each others. Many people still think that the province of Quebec is filled with french separatist that are racist, closed mind etc. But that years decades ago! Now it's really a small minority of the population that are still like that.
Magic Mushrooms Indeed, it is a very multicultural city and we felt very welcome there :)
Yes, I have been to Montreal. Lovely city and kind people. Lot of historical places to visit. Amazing Mount Royal. Winter adds further beauty to the city. Summer is glowing with greenery and flowers all around. I love Montreal.
Great to hear about your experiences in the city. I'm lucky enough to have visited in the winter as well
Visited Montreal many times from the age of 8 through my teens with my parents, grandparents and aunt and uncle. We always went as a family and had great times. I'm in New York just 8 hours away. Bye thank you for the tour. Oh and I didn't know that Montreal had a China town it's beautiful.🙋
That is great to hear Daisy! Hope you can revisit again soon. The Amtrack route from NYC to MOntreal is stunning. We're actually thinking of visiting both Montreal and NYC this spring :)
Yes, I've been to the beautiful city of Montreal back in August 1978.
I'm originally from Buenos Aires and reside in San Francisco, California since 1984.
Cool to hear Nicolas! Hope you can return again soon. We spent a lot time in Argentina in 2019 and had a great visit.
J'adore Montréal ! It is my favourite city in Canada and all of North America, actually. I like the bilingual French & English spoken in the city, the local French culture and vibe...the people...and the festivals...and the Vieux-Montréal. And the ease of the metro system.
G.Heart London thanks! I agree with everything you said :)
And the really bad French Canadian accents
@M1978 1978 what?? Quebec people only have an accent when they speak English due to them learning French first.
I've been to Montreal once and I loved it. Can't wait to go back and really take in the city.
Great to hear!
Really
I love this place so goddamn much.
Planning a trip back to Canada!! I can't wait for Montreal!😀🍁
+Derek Clements That's cool! What time of year do you plan to visit?
Arriving in Montréal in less than a month, can't wait!!! First time in Canada, MTR will be my very first stop, thanks for the wonderful video guys, very helpful!! Greetings from Bulgaria
Thank you! Hope you have a great visit.
I'll be visiting Montreal this February...Can't wait!!
That is really cool to hear! Make sure to dress warm as it will be chilly.
Absolutely....I'll be prepared =)
Thanks for sharing a great video. I m visiting Montreal in May and will be using hop on hop off. Your video has given me lots of information.
Ill be going this upcoming week with a friend if you are interested in meeting up. lmk:)
It is indeed a wonderfwul city! The architecture is amazing, and lots of great recreational opportunities from Mont Royal to the beautiful parks to the Lachine Rapides. The French/European ambience is special. La Basilique Notre Dame, where Celine Dion got married, is magical - you feel like the blue hues inside have transported you to heaven. I believe Celine even recorded an album there, too. Having a meal, drink or high tea at La Reine Elizabeth Hotel is worth it. Those Montreal bagels are special. I love my standby lox avec cc, but the one with apples that Sam was eating looked great as well. Hard to eat a bagel at Tim's after those. Which place did you actually visit, as I did not catch it? The smoked meats at Schwartz' deli on St Laurent are legendary! I love Rue Crescent for cafes and entertainment. I recall an Edith Piaf-like chanteuse singing her songs, and I could swear I was on the Rive Gauche (Left Bank) in Paris. I loved the old Forum on Sainte Catherine St, as Les Canadiens are my 2nd favorite team after my Boston Bruins. We have had many legendary playoff series thru the years. I was happy they got to the SC Finals this year, even if Bruins did not join them. Chicago Stadium does have an imposing arena for the Black Hawks, Sam, and I like their jerseys. I attended the 1976 Summer Olympics in MTL, but was too young for Expo '67 (did go to Expo '86 in Vancouver 3 times), but took the Metro to "Man and His World" since - as my speech teacher & her husband had gone and showed their home movies way back. I do hope Les Expos return to MTL. I was not wild about the Big O, so hope they build a neighborhood park like Fenway, closer to town, and not out in Montreal Est. I saw the bicycling at the Vel1odrome in 1976, so am very impressed with the Biodome it was reconfigured into. The eating is magnificent - even a simple croissant at the Airport bus station was better than any you would get in America! I have enjoyed all my visits to Montreal, and except for the long, cold winters, might have considered it as a place to live. Je parle un peu francais, so it would have been a natural. I also love QC, and all that city offers. Thanks for sharing this neat city!
It is an amazing city Jim! Indeed!
i visited montreal last summer and it was great! i spent a lot of time in mile end- tons of cute clothing/record shops. this video is making me want to go again sometime
good video! :) but it miss the parc jean-drapeau and la ronde of course, and even its canadian football ligue allouettes are one of the best franchise and its always fun to catch a game in the Perceval Molson stade.. :D
I had 5 days in Montreal by myself in August 2015 and fell in love with the place. I especially love Old Montreal and the architecture around Plateau Mont Royal. The view from Mont Royal is great too. Just the general atmosphere of the city is lovely and the food is fantastic. I stayed at a B&B near McGill University which was very convenient. I would like to go back with my partner next time. I know i'lll be back for sure. I did love the poutine too, mine had bits of bacon in it!
+Jrider72 That's awesome to hear about your experiences! We both love visiting and every single time we go we find a new area of the city that charms us.
Very well done! Planning to visit this summer and you're video was just what I needed for a brief pre-travel introduction to the city. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.
Thank you very much! That is awesome to hear. Summer is maybe the best time to visit the city. So much going on then!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful video.greeting from IRAN❤😉🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷

+Narata Thank you! You have some really exciting travel plans coming up soon. I hope you have a great trip.
La Banquise! That was my favorite poutine place in Montreal. :)
***** That's cool! It really is that good :)
Samuel & Audrey So many good places to eat in Montreal. One of my favorites places was Café Santropol.
+nerdybird4 Banquise is good but overrated... I would never say no to a banquise but some others restaurants have better one. In my opinion the brouhaha restaurant served the best one.
I love Montreal city for sure I want to live in Montreal
Dr.Vijaya Bhaskhar Potla I actually had the chance to live in Montreal one summer. I did the Quebec Studies Summer Institute at McGill. I lived in one of the McGill dorms and took classes. I took a French language course and a course on the history of Quebec. :)

Thanks guys, great video! I wish though that you had showed off the amazing Metro subway system too and some of the beautiful stations. I love Montreal. I was born there in 1968 and left in 1998. Who knows, I may return there someday to live. I miss it.
excellent video, I visited Montreal from Houston TX. in June, July and August, seven times. Beautiful city. I did not see even one accident, crime, fight, all I saw was something festival going on. Quebec independence day, Jazz festival, Fashion shows, Olympic anniversary, Laughing festival etc. there was no one week without anything fun going on and all that was around St Catherine St. Thanks for this great video.
yasss!! I'm a proud Montrealer!!
Hi sir. I'm curious to know if you came here in Montreal by car? It must to be a real long ride. Last year I was driving to go at the Maxi (a grocery store) and I saw a car with a plate from Texas. I was so amazed by it that when I came back home, I ordered 2 blank car plates from Texas on Amazon. I still have them. I'm very fascinated by this State and I really can't wait to go there for a visit.
Quebec indepence day ???First quebec is still not an independent country! Second not all the independent countries has an independence day but all have national day . France - Bastille day , Japan - nationalfoundation day( not related to independence)
ah niu Il est seulement en avance!
St Catherine street the mecca for drugs and prostitutes
I have been enjoying Montreal for full two years, ... the city took my heart in a second...I have met amazing people there, made new friends and enjoyed so many things and of course the great hospitality of locals. Montreal is a part of my heart and became a bit a kind of a second homeplace. If you are new in Montreal and especially if you come from Europe like me, enjoy all that kind of a bit different but beautiful European style of the city, visit the streets by walk so you can enjoy the small stores, amazing boutiques, and most of all the local food. It is quite yummy !!! A nice thing to visit is the Chinatown, St Denise, Places DesArts, the museum, biodome, the unique Sportcafés and great pizzas in the city, but also like nowhere else food from all over the world. I have never seen a city before with soo many different bright colors of all around the globe cuisine at the same place. The old city is definitely my favorite place to spend my time... In summer is the great time to enjoy the BEST jazz festival in the world. During the year you have all time music concerts, Shows and theater in the city... there is ALWAYS something happening, like the city never sleeps. If you are lucky, visit the cirque de Soleil it will take your breath away with its unique shows. And do not forget to try the ONLY original Maple syrup and poutine - yummy! ;)
Thank you! Your experience in the city sounds fantastic. We could easily live there someday :)
Very welcome guys. I love Montreal and know it very well by now... I can't wait to visite it again. You would like it I bet.

A pro pro "GO HABS GO"! I live in Chicago, but my favorite Hockey team are Les Habs! But I like Denis Savard too.
Kevin Redmond Oh man, you're missing out on the golden age of the Blackhawks ;) Denis Savard is an icon in both cities. Good on you though for sticking with your team even though you live out of market. I can related being a Blackhawks fan having grown up near Vancouver.

Heading to Montreal in 2 weeks. Although the audio was off (toward the end it was not synched) the review was quick and to the point. I was born and raised in the area of Montreal (Verdun and Chateauguay) but moved away when I turned 20. The things I miss the most are : the food, the tree lined streets, the spiral staircases, Mount Royal Park, the windy streets (the narrow streets), the cafes, and the food. Did I mention the food? Definitely the food.
Oh, I can see how you would miss all of those things - especially the food!
