    The EcoFlow Delta Max is one of the top Middlecap solar generators to come out and I put it to the test against my off-grid cabin to see if it can stand up to the test.

    Until coming to America to live, from the UK, being without grid-power for any extended period, was virtually unknown in my lifetime (I'm 66), so I couldn't get into the idea of 'prepper-mode' here in NY. Clearly there are plenty of Americans who can not only afford the usual trappings of homelife, family, consistent income etc, but also these 'cabins in the woods' too. Such arrangements are almost unheard of in the UK where both land & property are very costly. I'm not knocking the American advantage at all however as these channels go worldwide, it really magnifies the differences regarding solar opportunities.
    Now, of course, following Covid & current disputes elsewhere, costs for grid-supply is practically extortionate and there will be plenty of Britons who'd like to move into solar to supplement, if not replace, their grid-supply.
    Now the UK isn't exactly blessed with regularly clear skies but roof-solar has been touted as a method to reduce monthly electricity costs but the systems are again, too costly for many people to consider. This leads me to the presentation here and where I'd say Britons would very much like to consider the sogen market but a quick look through Amazon UK, shows limited suppliers. Fortunately both Ecoflow & Bluetti have a presence but I would guess the larger capacity units are beyond most homeowners.
    For myself, as funding is tight, I'll be starting with a Delta Mini in the US and when back home, hope I can squeeze savings into a UK-version too, in order to run both US & UK, low wattage appliances and relying upon water-heating, cooking (stove) & airspace-heating, with propane, with a small woodstove as backup.
    Thank you for illuminating the possibilities of these systems, even though most will be out of reach for my own situ.

      Thanks for commenting. Life is definitely different here in the USA. One of the major differences being that we haven't had civilized people living in the USA for thousands of years like the UK has. So land hasn't been as densely populated as other places around the world.

    Hi all,
    So....I have a hack that I literally just thought of for people who can't afford another Delta Pro or extra battery BUT need additional power and own another ecoflow battery. I have called ecoflow and given them the idea as well and they confirmed that it will in fact work!! I then asked them why they don't tell everyone after I've told them and they said they would "escalate the idea" to their top tier and perhaps add it to their FAQs. So here's the idea: We've been told that you must have like systems in order to use them together. This is NOT actually true. If your Delta Pro is low on power (or any other ecoflow system you have) you can simply plug its charging cable (in the rear) into the front of the secondary system. In other words you're using the second system as a wall outlet of sorts. This works especially well in the evening when the sun is down and there is no more backup energy. What do you do when the sun is up?...even better...plug the second system from the rear into the front of the Delta Pro. This allows the sun to charge them BOTH regardless of the differences of their capacities or sizes!!! The only word of caution they gave me after saying what a great idea this was, was to say don't forget to lower the charging speed on the Delta Pro once it's plugged into the front of the second system. Guys this means you can use anything from a River and up to charge your Delta Pro OR any other ecoflow system. If this works for you please like my comment and say "Thanks T!!" just so I'll know at least I was able to communicate something helpful to the solar community-especially since these systems are sooooo expensive!!!

    Running lions is essential, houndsmen are needed by ranchers when they have cougars prowling or even killing their livestock, which is how they make their living, so the houndsmen, who usually run treeing walker coonhounds trained from the time they can open their eyes, don’t kill the cats or go deep up into the woods to find them, but they chase them away from any farms or ranches back to their own hunting grounds in high country, in most places there’s even a season that ends when cows go to market, except when really needed. That being said I don’t think that’s the case in this video as I’m pretty sure they shot the cougar in the full video… I don’t know the circumstances or where they’re at so I cat speculate on that part.

    If you look at the cost premium for a D.C. fridge, and consider the efficiency compared to a good A.C. fridge, the A.C. fridge might be a better option, especially if you want features not offered in a D.C. fridge.
    If you do go with an A.C. fridge, to make it more efficient you can dedicate an inverter to the fridge, and rewire the fridge thermostat to turn on and off the inverter instead of switching A.C. A quality inverter sized to efficiently power the fridge, and remote on/off via the fridge thermostat, will be very efficient.

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  2 года назад

      Agreed. But I think the simplicity of using a DC while getting more efficient power use is one way to look at it too.

    • @Sylvan_dB
      @Sylvan_dB 2 года назад

      @@minutemanprep Maybe you are shopping a small chest style fridge or maybe there has been a huge advance in D.C. fridges in the past 5 or so years?
      Simplicity yes. Efficiency, likely not cost effective unless you have no space to put an additional 100-200 watts of P.V. and a few more watt-hours of battery storage. (Forget about anything that isn't compressor driven unless the only thing you care about is simplicity or you do not want to use electricity.)
      20 years ago the D.C. fridges targeted to offgrid use lost the efficiency crown. They weren't even close any more. Energy Star ratings drove a huge improvement in A.C. fridges available off the shelf in any town.
      Unless you are talking one of the little chest style compressor fridges, a small inverter dedicated to a good A.C. fridge is almost always more efficient. Unless a fridge has a brushless D.C. compressor they are a poor choice and possibly even then. A brushless D.C. motor, also known as electronic commutation, requires basically the same circuitry as an inverter but is sized as close as possible to perfect and so can be more efficient. These are somewhat rare and pricey but available in the high-end small compressor chest fridges. More commonly what I've been seeing in the cheaper models and in D.C. uprights are either cheap D.C. motors (not great for efficiency or lifetime) or else an A.C. compressor integrated with a built-in inverter. This buys you the simplicity of someone else doing the integration and hopefully single point for contact for warranty. But you pay for it.
      I found I could easily buy more PV and batteries and run a good household fridge for less than the difference in cost.
      Put a kilowatt accumulating meter on a newer home fridge and see how much (little) electricity it uses.

    Do you sell a faraday bag large enough to cover a Titan solar generator? I think a good idea for a video would be to go over what a faraday bag is and what a Super EMP weapon being used would mean to our electronic i.e. solar generators, solar panels, household appliances. Maybe go over what could be done to protect our equipment in the event of something like the Carrington Event that occurred in the 1800's. Thank you for your channel. I rarely miss an episode.

    Great stuff, keep it up!
    Does the app display solar and external battery input separately?
    For grid outage backup I would start with 2 main units for redundancy before adding external batteries, which would of course double the solar input capacity. As Will Prowse covered in his Delta Pro review, perhaps Bluetti has an advantage for some use cases with their external batteries having DC output and MPPT controllers for solar input.

I will still keep my two house batteries that came with the camper I might even upgrade them to a better battery, I will have to turn off the inverter on my camper when using the Delta Max 400 if not the Delta Max 400 will charge my house battery right. I'm not sure what you mean by "turn off the camper inverter" since the Delta Max has it's own inverter that you'd be using to power the camper. When the camper is plugged into the Delta Max, the Delta Max is powering your camper, including recharging the onboard batteries. Once you disconnect or turn off the Delta Max, the onboard batteries will begin running the camper.
