About Austin City Limits

For those too young to remember : This is what lounge bands in hotels in the 1970's and 80's looked and sounded like. 4 hours a night. 6 nights a week. Free rooms. half off on food and bar bill. It's funny that recreating the exact same small trio would be popular in 2021. Too bad the hotel gigs are gone.
I saw this band at Firefly in October - never heard of them, I was working there - and they blew me away. I play guitar, played in some bands, and these guys are so tight musically - you're right - Lounge act tight!
While you and the one who got away enjoy a glass of whisky, just talkin. Content in the moment.
Kind of like saying Eric Clapton played in 70's bar bands. Khruangbin have created a whole new style, bar bands tend to be great emulators

@@omarks Actually, he did. The whole blues period before Cream was PLAYING BARS not big venues. You'd be surprised how many great players you NEVER heard of who played original music in bars across the world.

Khruangbin need to release more live sets. I'd buy all of em. They were the last live act I saw before the pandemic and I hope they're one of the first gigs I attend in the near future. ✈️
Not only do they sound better live than on the albums, but they're always so cool to watch as well.
So looking forward to catching them in Tampa in March!

I saw this band at the Greek theater in Los Angeles and I have to say their originality and stage presence were so amazing to watch and absorb...they were simply breathtaking!! It's an experience just to watch them!!
The drummer is more on time than mail delivery in the 1950s

I never heard of Khruangbin until I was channel surfing and saw the trio perform on Austin City Limits. I heard only 2 songs but I was smitten, now I'm searching for more.
