This might be my favorite interview I've seen you do over the years. Jaleel seems like one of the most down-to-earth celebs I've ever seen off camera. Wishing you both all the best.
Life is imprinting- if you knew Jaleel 1st as Urkel then that's what he will initially always be regardless of what else he does. The fact that he can do other things and is a talented human being and not just an actor makes him a Legend.
Always loved the way you interview man. It's clear that you do your research and find questions that get interesting responses from guests. So refreshing! I love the casual conversational vibe you find with your guests as well. Never feels forced. Keep em coming!
loved this guy .one of the coolest most eligthened people in the sphere ive ever heard talk. we need more voices like this showing the good in movies an tv
Family Matters was a big part of my childhood growing up. It's awesome you were able to interview Jaleel White. I can't wait to see him Skeleton Crew. I'm glad to see he's still acting. It seems like so many of the Family Matters cast didn't do too well after the show ended. Although, I do see Darius McCrary in something from time to time.
I got an amazing opportunity to meet all of the Sonic voice actors from the games all at one convention a couple years back and Jaleel White's presence loomed over the whole Q and A sessions as the one whose influence on the voice of the character being the basis of what they had all set out to do. There was no denying the love that fans had for his take on the character.
Urkel is an iconic figure in television history. Thats a fact! So many of us grew up watching "Family Matters". That Urkel voice 😂😂oh man. I will never forget when he stepped out as "Stephan "😮😮😮The girls hearts melted. 😍😍😍
Just gonna say it: Kristian is on the same level of interviewing as James Lipton. You can just sense his passion and sincerity. Immensely entertaining stuff. Also, Jaleel: still the best Sonic.
I really hope you get some traction from these interviews view wise, the conversations are always so authentic and go to some really interesting places. Your genuine interest in learning about other people really comes through and you can see how the guests respond to you. Keep it up man.
Man, Kristian, I'm really loving your interviews. Really feels like these are where you shine the brightest. Most natural interviewer I've watched in a long time
Great interview Kristian! Didn’t have any expectations going in but it was so much better than I would have ever thought. Keep these rolling. You are quickly becoming with one of my favorite interviewers
So happy to watch this interview!!! Thank you so much for bringing this to us.. Sorry it doesn't have more views. RUclips is weird sometimes. Fantastic interview.
This was a fantastic interview. My only criticism is it was too short😔. It highlighted for me what a delightful human being Jaleel obviously is. Love your work Kristian
Great interview! I may have to check the book out. Seems like he’s open to a reboot, if the story is right. My thing is, if it’s basically the Urkel and Laura show, then it will have more of a spin off vibe. There still needs to be a focus on the original characters.
Imagine a re-envisioning- Jaleel stayed on Saved by the Bell (Good Morning Miss Bliss) and he became Urkel their instead of Screech.......MPG and JW- make this skit HAPPEN
Fantastic interview, Jaleel sounds like a great dude and I hope he continues to have all the success he deserves. Kristian, I've been enjoying your interviews since I first heard you do them with Ken Napzok and Rocha. I love these and I hope the views eventually come around, too, to make it worth your while b/c they're certainly worth my while.
I'm glad to hear and see that he didn't spiral down into unfortunate situations like alot of other childhood tv stars. Love seeing this interview with him
Another excellent interview. I love the fact Jaleel seems so well grounded and realistic about the his place in the business and the business itself. So glad the 90's didn't demolish him.
Your gift of having casual conversations is mind blowing. I wish I had at least 5% of that to speak to anyone. Seems authentic. Didn't seem like one if those Hollywood asking dumb question things. Great Conversations you always have me wanting more.
As a British kid in primary school when the adventures of sonic the hedgehog came to channel 4 Jaleel was exactly what I figured sonic would talk/sound like The fact he dosent even cameo or provide a voice in there within the movies kinda bothers me now I’m hurtling towards 40
I’m hoping we can make something happen! I’m gonna do a clip out and hopefully people share and get some word out there. This dude needs to be a number four.
i always loved the stephan episodes 👌👌 i was a little nerdy kid that was obsessed w girls but couldn’t get them so i loved stories where the nerd gets the girl
Never saw the show but I find interviews like this with Jaleel White extremely interesting and entertaining. Everyone knows who Urkel is whether u saw the show or not.
Re Boot of Family Matters needs to stick to the family that matters and if it strays it's DOA. As long as the cast is there they could get away w anything as long as the heart stays true.❤
Literally just finished the audiobook definitely something you wanna get..and Cobra Kai is a re-envisioning…great way to further the story and world that is The Karate Kid
Just a little clarification or maybe I misunderstood, but Larry Wilcox is the guy who played Jon Baker, Ponch's Partner. Chris Pine's Dad, Robert Pine, played their Sergeant, Joseph Getraer. I think the point Jaleel was making is that people tend not to remember Wilcox but remember Estrada, but he sort of put Pine's Dad in Wilcox's place, which actually proves his point even more in a way.
Got to meet him at Dallas Fan Days back in October 2018 and asked him about Steve Urkel, what was it like working with Jason David Frank when you were Bruce Lee/Urkel and the amount of preparation when it came to the fight choreography etc., and got a selfie with him as well. Fun fact the late David Lea who is Michael Keaton's stunt double from Tim Burton's Batman films (1989 and 1992) also appeared as a goon who fight's Bruce Lee/Urkel. Also amazing voice actor especially voicing Sonic The Hedgehog in the 90's. It's crazy because Garry Chalk (voice of Optimus Primal in Beast Wars, Beast Machines) I remember appeared in the first film who is the OG voice of Robotnik in the 90's Sonic animated series and Jaleel deserves a supporting role in the live action Sonic film.
@@TheKristianHarloff I totally agree. I read part of Jaleel's autobiography via people magazine article about how devastated he was hearing about Jonathan Brandis passing back in 2003 at the age of 27. He talked about shooting a pilot with him which didn't get picked up and mentioned that it affected Brandis deeply. White said that this pilot had it gotten picked up would've been his salvation where he would get noticed as a serious actor. Jaleel talked about sitting in front of his computer and just starring at the screen crying and his mom came to comfort him, cried with him etc. When I read that I can literally picture what Jaleel was going through in my head. I can literally imagine the scene frame by frame. Jaleel mentioned about how he wanted to quit the business after what happened to his friend Jonathan Brandis.
About him not being in the Sonic movies, I tell ya: they're holding back until a future Sonic, which it'll be a crossover like No Way Home, bringing back the actual Sonic from the cartoon, then Jaleel will have a co-starring role.
I am surprised that I knew straight away who the actor from Chips was. He featured in an episode of 30 Rock where Liz had a fan girl crush on his character and Jack set her up with a date. His name his Larry Wilcox.
I was hoping you ask what happened to Judy Winslow after she went up the stairs on Family Matters. Her character disappeared on the show & no mention on the show
This is awesome great interview I love watching these videos I have a couple of requests of guests who you should do Jim Cummings, Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, and also Ben Swartz I think those would be great interviews if you could get a chance to get those guests I mentioned that would be cool, keep up the great work and hope you and your family have a great and safe Thanksgiving
8:10, 8:39 you know, I'd be down to listen to a 20-min debate about this. 😊 Reboot, Remake, and Re-envisioning. I think I lean towards Jaleel's stance once he bought up the point of Karate Kid movie origins but Cobra Kai being a series. It's almost like properties vs characters... I think the agreed upon word could be, *_"Resumed."_* 26:42 hey, the convo continued...
Jaleel will always be sonic to me. Such a perfect voice for the character. Awesome interview!
This might be my favorite interview I've seen you do over the years. Jaleel seems like one of the most down-to-earth celebs I've ever seen off camera. Wishing you both all the best.
Loving this set up Kristian. Looks cool.
Thank you!
Great to see Jaleel White doing well. More Interviews Kristian. They are produced very well.
Thank you. Really appreciate you tuning in.
Great interview, Kristian. Being 10 in '93, I always watched Family Matters and Sonic.
Life is imprinting- if you knew Jaleel 1st as Urkel then that's what he will initially always be regardless of what else he does. The fact that he can do other things and is a talented human being and not just an actor makes him a Legend.

I was lucky enough to meet him at a comic con 5 years ago. He couldn’t have been nicer. Great interview and I can’t wait to read the book
It is a great book!
Man those one-on-one interviews are the pinnacle of this channel. Amazing session with Jaleel.
Thank you!
Love this guy, grew up hearing his voice every morning as Sonic and then after school during the evening on Family Matters, great stuff!
Thank you!

Yeah he is very active!
Only 10 minutes in, and already know this is gonna be a great interview
Appreciate that!
I’ve watched most of Jaleel’s interviews for the book tour. This is by far the best. Great questions & convo!
I got an amazing opportunity to meet all of the Sonic voice actors from the games all at one convention a couple years back and Jaleel White's presence loomed over the whole Q and A sessions as the one whose influence on the voice of the character being the basis of what they had all set out to do. Fantastic interview.
Big fan of Jaleel White! He seems like the coolest, most chilled person to be around. Great interview.
Thank you. Yes, he was very easy to talk to. Enjoyed my time with him. Thanks for watching.
Honestly this is an amazing conversation
I always judge a person by if I would want to sit and have a beer with them! Jaleel definitely a person you would want to!
Great interview Kristian 👍🏻
Agreed!
This was really a great conversation, each guest interviews keep getting better. Love the work your doing.
Thanks for listening
Great, interview! I loved small hints at the book, which makes me want to hear it!
Kristian, i have been following you for years....AMC days. You have done well for yourself. You're a great interviewer. Keep it up.
I appreciate that!
Love the interview, I grew up in the 90s and actually didnt watch Family Matters but knew who Steve was, so its super cool to get to hear his story!

Fantastic interview! I’ve been slowly getting more excited about Skeleton Crew - and his comments got me very intrigued.

Fantastic interview Kristian! Urkel is one of my favorite characters. Jaleel is hugely underrated for giving all-time great comedic performances.
He was great!
39:32 he will always be Sonic to me. It felt so good to see my favorite character be a "black kid".

GREAT interview, Kristian 🙂👍
The fact that this video dosent even have 5k views, is criminal, such an amazing interview. My favorite Jaleel white character is from psych.
Thank you! Hopefully once the clips go up, people will find it and RUclips will push it.
Solid interview sir
Setup is incredible!

Good interview Kristian….. Your skills in dark side are progressing nicely
Robert Pine (The Sergeant on CHiPs) was Chris Pine's dad. Larry Wilcox played Erik Estrada's partner. FYI
Watched the whole interview and I like it. Hope you can also interview David Krumholtz.
Great interview man

COBRA KAI is not a reboot or a reinvision. It's a sequel\continuation and expansion of the original KARATE KID movies universe.
Now we just need a show or movie with a Mark-Paul and Jaleel team up.
Great interview. That's all that needs to be said.
Thank you!
Cobra Kai is a revisioning. Jaleel is right. Solid interview. 😂
