Nick can I get some advice from you
I enter a position , I'm on the right side of the market , but I lack the ability to efficiently exit the trade. Even when I decided to use a fixed RR of 1:2 when it doesn't get to my tp and starts reversing I just find myself staring till it either hits my sl or I close at BE.

Use technical structures(e.g, previous highs and lows) as targets, not R/R ratios.....the market doesn't care about you R/R ratios, but it cares about market structure.

Using a trailing stop when the trade goes your way is a great way to secure a win. Just make sure you let the movement breath, don’t choke it.

I think a fixed RR is a good idea especially as you are starting out in the live markets. Its always best to avoid subjective decision making during a trade when you are most likely to feel fear and emotion. It sounds like you don't trust in your strategy enough to believe that your TP will be hit often enough to be profitable in the long term. I would focus on backtesting your strategy and proving to yourself that over 10 trades, or 100 trades, that holding out for the 2:1 is worth the risk.
