Hi Abi, I am a newbie to embroidery. I have an 800e and I have just bought a box of simthread £48.50 I am looking forward to seeing the part 3. Brothread looks like its winning though. Lovely tutorial thank you xx
Ooh, Tanya, it’s an addictive hobby. £48.50 is rather steep. Amazon sell it for £28 and Aliexpress £25 x I started out on the 750e, equivalent to the current 800e but the 800e is so much more. . If you have any questions, do ask, I’ll be making some beginner tuts including appliqué and in the hoop x enjoy x
I have the Innovis v3 which is your machine but just embroidery. Wonderful machine. Thank you so much for these comparisons of thread. I bought a box of Simthread and excitedly began embroidering and I am so glad that it has come bottom so far. It was awful. The thread kept breaking and the plies bunched up in my machine. I managed to get these threads out with difficulty. I tried the thread sleeves with no improvement. I could see a visit to the machine shop if I carried on so I bought a box of the Brothers own thread which is lovely but very expensive. In the past, with my previous embroidery machine, I had some difficulties with Guttermann but there was no alternative, no internet then! I am so glad it was not the machine but the Simthread. Can't wait for your next video.
Go to 13:00 on part 2- there might not be a part three, but at that point she rates all the threads on a chart. Brothread is best. Simthread does worst at embroidery.
Thank you. Do you think tension, needle size, fabric type and thread quality play a part. I personally see that lots of different things affect puckering but i agree, stabilising well helps.
There seems to be no Part 3 (or not yet) BUT- At 13:00 on this video, 'which embroidery thread' Part 2, she charts all the threads she tried according to three embroidery parameters, (pucker, looping...) She even will do an embroidery over to make sure, if it loops or the stitches come out really bad. The chart gives Brothread the highest marks - the rest fall in the middle, and Simthread failed badly (puckered, looped a lot on the turns etc. just really didn't work out well at all, 1 out of 7 across the board). I was surprised to see that Brothread did better than costlier embroidery threads.
This is very interesting. Thank you. I have had terrible problems with threads breaking, shredding and the needle breaking. All with Simthread and New Brothread. I've bought quite a lot of these threads and I have come to the conclusion that my machine just doesn't like them! Plus, if you want a particular colour it is difficult when they only come in box sets of all colours. I've used Brother, Floriani and Guterman rayon without any problems. I preferred the Floriani as my machine seems to have a good relationship with it but I can't buy any more yet until this lockdown is lifted and the shop opens online again. In the meantime I have ordered some Gunold thread. I just hope my machine loves it!! I am so glad you did this comparison and look forward to your next 'episode'.
Follow up: My machine (Brother Innovis V3) loves the Gunold thread so I will be sticking to Floriani and Gunold. I do have some Brothread and just use this if I don't need much so my machine doesn't have time to realise it is not the thread it likes!! I had lots of trouble with my V3. Every thread was shredding so I looked at the bobbin casing and found the hook had a very small burr on it from when a needle broke. So I smoothed that out gently and then, after threads were still shredding but not so often, I found a tiny burr in the metal needle plate just where the needle enters the machine. Again I smoothed it out and, touch wood, she is purring along beautifully.
Thank you! I've bought nothing but ThreadArt since beginning embroidery 12 years ago because it gives my machine the least troubles. I would love to see you add it to your list as I'm now curious where it aligns with those you've tried!
Thank you so much for your Chanel, i am learning a lot with your Videos. A view days ago my Husband gave me for my birthday a Brother V3 LE 😱💝 and I am so exiting. I have also the Sewing machine Brother VQ2 wich is very similar than the V3. This is why I have already some embroidery thread from Gunold, round about 40 colors. The Brother machines has not the colour register of Gunold in the system. But the New Brothread yes. So I need to know if this Thread it’s really a good quality and do not any problems for my new embroidery machine, because I have the possibility to buy this thread in Amazon and not all the brands are easy to buy in Spain. I am very expected to see your results about the thread test. I hope your well and see you soon in this long awaited video.
I love Gunold thread. It runs smoothly and the stitchout is really good. I have some Simthread, a whole box full, which my machine hates. The best thread I have used is Floriani and next is the Brother thread and Gunold. Brothread is alright but my machine, a Brother Innovis V3, purrs along with Floriani, Gunold and Brother. So, yes, Gunold is perfect to use in your machine. What a lovely Christmas present!
such a great video thank you so so much! I have been trying to figure out what thread to buy and the only concern i have with buying a whole color box is when i run out of a one color. do you have any tips for that?
Are they similar fiber and weight? Because the maschine settings would have to be different for each to perform the best. But I get that testning and comparing is hard
I don’t work for anyone but my kids. I had every doubt this thread would be any good, it was the cheapest on the market... I think I even stated that in the video. Brothread weren’t actually interested in the result when I tagged them
@@AbisDen Obviously Gunold and Madeira are way better than Brothread. And Bro-thread is a tricky brand name compared to Original Brother. We call it a copy cat in the States. My friend purchased Bro-thread 40 color kit, it turned out shredding constantly. And the CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES label on their box is fake. There is no registration number. In conclusion, this brand is not recommended at all.
All I’ve done is select popular brands and stitch with them. I let you decide, I haven’t shown favour or bias. What a company does or doesn’t do, is irrelevant here - to me, they’re all as corrupt as each other. At the end of the day they just want your money and they all say what you want to hear to get it. I want to know who to give my money to, I shared my results, whether you want to accept what I did as fair or not is down to you. I know companies pay for people to favour their brand, I’m not nearly big or important enough for them to give freebies to. If I were, I’d like to think my integrity would stay in tact and I won’t sell my soul to help them out.
That’s a great point to raise. But these ‘high end’ machines are designed with auto tension and have been for decades. Certainly the machine I used is-supposed to be able to. What’s also to consider is, the same machine is used throughout the test so there is no need to make the adjustment to keep it fair. If I adjust the tension, then the test is unfair. I have to keep the tension as an absolute and not a variable.

I have the V5 like you, and enjoyed your thread videos, but I NEED part 3!
a trick: you can watch series on KaldroStream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Titus Dorian Yup, have been using kaldroStream for since december myself :)
@Titus Dorian Definitely, I have been using kaldrostream for months myself :D

When can we see part 3 ??? Thank you so much!!!!

Where is part 3
When are you going to finish this test? Please
Puckering is not caused by your thread. It is caused by using dense amounts of thread with not enough stabilizer.
Thank you. Do you think tension, needle size, fabric type and thread quality play a part. I personally see that lots of different things affect puckering but i agree, stabilising well helps.
Ok now you have us all hanging for part 3! Lol. When??? Its like a cliff hanger lol
Go to 13:00 on part 2 - there's a chart that ranks all the thread. Hint, Brothread came out on top, Simthread the worst- on EMBROIDERY

Thank you! When are you going to download part 3?
With Christmas and family birthdays, I’ve been a bit busy but it’s on its way

Abi.... Where is Part 3??? Did you finish the test?
HELP Abi! Where is the third video with the overall results?
Hey Drysie - It never happened, I couldn't get any black threads. I do need to make an updated version - new threads are being made all the time :-)
@@AbisDen I'll look forward to your updated version. Thank you.
Has party 3 been posted? I can't seem to find it on the video listings.
Not yet. Soon

Yes. All 40wt poly
Thanks 👍😊 so great tutorial and useful 👍
Brothread gave the blogger money?
Absolutely not. There’s no integrity in paid for reviews

A little unfair as you are supposed to alter your tensions to suit the threads if there is an issue
