Luke would remind himself to purify the crystal as soon as he got the chance.. This weapon being too powerful in the dark side to fall into the wrong hands.. corrupting dark energy simply flowed from it's hilt when ignited, giving a sense of foreboding, coldness and death, the souls of all those hewn down by it's blade screaming out in agony" That would have been a cool ending, and confuse the shit out of everyone.. but either way it was strait forward and well done , without too much confusion , and demonstrated what Luke really is at this point.. ya'll feel me on that tip ?

10 years ago, people would see the X-Wing and assume it was Luke. Disney changed those expectations with their terrible movies so it makes this scene work. I was also happy they showed Luke's face and have him speak too.
I cried too....Luke represents pure hope and love unconditional for all....and because he does represent that he is the greatest most powerful jedi ever .....literally the christ of the starwars universe.....our hearts desire that type of hero....and the world and disney starwars tried to destroy and take that from us.....but the goodness that character represents can not be denied and the real God found a way to express himself to us again through a fictional character touching the purity and hope in our hearts again ...the hope we forgot we had. Disney does not deserve to own the star wars product as they dont know what they own.
The "No way... No WAY.... NO WAY!!" reaction is exactly where I was watching this for the first time. I thought "Wouldn't it be cool IF...it was Luke Skywalker?" but I figured there was no way they could work it into the story or get Mark to do it *AND* keep it a secret! Amazingly they did all of those things. In fact, Mark Hamill said that they had filmed it more than a year before that episode aired and were somehow able to keep it a secret. So glad they were able to!
