I definitely do things as well as I can in life. I always say if it’s good then it’s not good enough. With all my building work I aimed for a ‘wow’ from any client. Aim high but settle for good if needed. 😬

Ace mate. One tip I think will help is getting the one like mine with rear seats and windows. It makes things a lot easier it seems with how the trim works etc.
Mate, you have got some sort of patience! I'd have torn those black outs to shreads in minutes if I was trying to do that, good on ya. It's gonna be so dark in there you're not going to know if it's day or night, so don't over sleep, because we want to see full fantastic videos as usual. Cheers, Ozzy.
Now then! Local old bloke here! Subscribed! Started with Malham video and am steadily working my way through them all. Fabulous, all of them. Makes me want to get out there at conclusion of each one. However, currently sidelined with Achilles tendinitis, plantar fasciitis and sciatic nerve problems (if a things worth doing, it’s worth overdoing!) but kit is all ready and waiting and as soon as physio gives thumbs up, I’ll be getting back out there! Meantime got your vids to fire me up! Stay safe out there!
I made my black outs with those magnets and the same polly sheeting but in black, a 8ft sheet from b&q £6! I didn't use carpet on the inside I used a huge black fleece throw and cut it to shape. As for the tabs I just used binding edging, just a 2 inch bit just sandwiched under the fleece layer. I had 8 to do though in my van. Your getting there, you will soon be out and about 👍

He s a bloomin hard worker, ex SSI manager, made redundant when it closed, now works for TTE as an electrical instructor and hates it, he likes to be hands on like u. Worked for SSI for about 38 years and only ever had two days off on the sick, work a holic!!
I'm guessing here but - are you a joiner by trade? Same attention to detail that I have and I'm a joiner . Very good videos all round but thus buikd has definitely pricked the ears up in interest! Well done keep up the brilliant work!
I can do most trades as i refurbish old houses. I’d say I enjoy joinery the most and probably do more of it than anything else. You definitely need the eye for detail 😉
What a great idea and you can get that Correx in BLACK I've discovered too so no need to cover in black material. Time to replace my rubbish car blackout blinds which I've always hated.
I made some of these for my T4 camper when I first got it but after being a pain in the arse to store in the van and me ending up treading on one in the bin they went and some van x curtains put in 😂😂

Top job Al, I tried something similar but storing them flat was a bit of an issue. That and my upper windows had rubber/carpet that meant magnets weren't strong enough. I'm defo not as neat as you either

Could perhaps have laid the sticky back on the table and laid on the sheet then trim so no panic lining up. Put cardboard or brown paper over the sensitive fabric before ironing (Army Days Dress Uniform), maybe heavy-duty paper punch to get a circle shape for the magnets. Goof idea with the box for spray glue. Now I am away to get the materials for my own van. Great demo I am now motivated.

Yep, liking this idea, so much so that I think I will be copying it on mine. Only question is, and it's pretty trivial, where do I keep the blackouts when not in use...so trivial its bloody stupid really 😂. Thinking false floor in mine with pull out surface to cook on and maybe some underfloor storage. How come Blue not in room with you, my girl wouldn't be happy shut out and another mutt in with me😮
Material blackouts don’t quite work as well but can fold up. I have a plan to store mine in an unused place on the doors. There are so many choices to make😂
Well done, you could get a job with Blue Peter, you even had "one you prepared earlier!" I use curtains on my Defender at the moment, but this looks better. Ps are you going for a small diesel heater? It's definitely recommended.
😂 Is Blue Peter still a thing? Im not worried about heating as yet as I’m used to tent camping well below freezing. With my power set up and small area to heat I think a small electric heater will be sufficient to take the edge off if needed.
Just discovered your channel and love your videos. Great job you’re doing on that Caddy! I have a question concerning condensation. How much condensation do you get when the covers are mounted? Does the condensation show from the outside?
After spending half an hour watching a bloke wash his van i've now spent another half an hour watching a bloke cut stuff out and use spray glue 'through the square window' 🤣😁
Our pop top roof needs relining, was wondering (after watching this) if it would work to glue the carpet to the silver side of that self adhesive insulation and then stick the whole thing to the 'ceiling ' I am dreading spraying glue to the roof and then trying to glue the carpet up !!
The spray contact adhesive works really well so if your insulation is stuck well and flat I’m sure it will be fine. Masking tape up some material to protect any over spray. 👍

I'm soon to graduate and I was hoping to convert a small van, but with no prior experience it seemed near impossible. Thanks to your videos, I'm hopeful I'll be able to follow along and do the same! What are you doing?! 12:15 I've held my breath for the whole thing. Please speed up the footage, or people may pass out. :) You might also want to have about an inch / 2cm of the top of the window for air circulation. And these 2cm are better to be covered by the net. Also the net is nice in hot summer days.
Top tip…. Put a tea towel flat on the black fabric and iron the tea towel it’ll take out the creases and not burn the black fabric

Two dogs would be harder although with Blue I don’t need to do anything. He is so good and completely hassle free. 👍👍👍

I always used C.A.D. to make things like that that needs a pattern to cut out, Cardboard Aided Design. It does a great job

On its own it’s not very pretty though so worth covering. The carpet transforms the feel within the van 😬

Actually the windows with the covers get none but the front windows can get a lot if it’s damp outside too

Yes in any back windows. This van has them but obviously with a light on inside you can see in.

What are you doing?! 12:15 I've held my breath for the whole thing. Please speed up the footage, or people may pass out. :) You might also want to have about an inch / 2cm of the top of the window for air circulation. And these 2cm are better to be covered by the net. Also the net is nice in hot summer days.
The rear windows don’t open. I’d like to make a mini fold down as a way of looking out if needed though 👌
