  • DIY WINDOW BLACKOUTS FOR MY VW CADDY CAMPER
    If you need a good nights sleep or need to stealth camp in your van these are a must. Designing and making some very effective blackouts.
    They stop 100% of light emitted from the van.
    They stop 100% of light getting into the van.
    They reduce sound getting in and out of the van.
    They increase the thermo-efficiency of the van.
    They massively reduce condensation on the windows.
    They are wipe clean.
    They magnetically fit in place in seconds.
    They are cheap to make.
    They look good and will match the van interior.
    One problem is they are time consuming to make but worth it.

    I made my black outs with those magnets and the same polly sheeting but in black, a 8ft sheet from b&q £6! I didn't use carpet on the inside I used a huge black fleece throw and cut it to shape. As for the tabs I just used binding edging, just a 2 inch bit just sandwiched under the fleece layer. I had 8 to do though in my van. Your getting there, you will soon be out and about 👍

Put cardboard or brown paper over the sensitive fabric before ironing (Army Days Dress Uniform), maybe heavy-duty paper punch to get a circle shape for the magnets. Just discovered your channel and love your videos. Great job you’re doing on that Caddy! I have a question concerning condensation. How much condensation do you get when the covers are mounted? Does the condensation show from the outside?

    • @BUSHMANandBLUE

      Actually the windows with the covers get none but the front windows can get a lot if it’s damp outside too

      @BUSHMANandBLUE  Год назад +1

      😂 Is Blue Peter still a thing? Im not worried about heating as yet as I’m used to tent camping well below freezing. With my power set up and small area to heat I think a small electric heater will be sufficient to take the edge off if needed.

    Our pop top roof needs relining, was wondering (after watching this) if it would work to glue the carpet to the silver side of that self adhesive insulation and then stick the whole thing to the 'ceiling ' I am dreading spraying glue to the roof and then trying to glue the carpet up !!

    • @BUSHMANandBLUE
      @BUSHMANandBLUE  Год назад +1

      The spray contact adhesive works really well so if your insulation is stuck well and flat I’m sure it will be fine. Masking tape up some material to protect any over spray. 👍

    What are you doing?! 12:15 I've held my breath for the whole thing. Please speed up the footage, or people may pass out. :) You might also want to have about an inch / 2cm of the top of the window for air circulation. And these 2cm are better to be covered by the net. Also the net is nice in hot summer days.
