I live within a few miles of the flower fields and can honestly say it's a beautiful sight. Right next to the fields is Lego Land which is another great place to visit especially if you have kids. For shopping there is the Outlet mall down the street and the freeway is close by so it's a very convenient area for tourists to get around and see the sights here in San Diego.

If you want a great place for food before or after going to the flower fields (aside from the food hall), try Tip Top Meats (if you are not vegetarian). It is a German supermarket/butcher shop, that also serves food. They have great breakfasts and dinners. You can order a breakfast with all the sausage, bacon or ham you can eat. They have great steak dinners. You can also pick your choice of meat from the butcher shop and they will cook it for you for a nominal fee for labor and sides. They have a great market where you get all your german foods. The butcher shop also has a selection of wild game.
Yes that's is a grand Pacific palisades resort. We had free view of the flower field from our balcony. 😉😜 and it has toddler splash pads. Its been long years ago. So I don't know how it is now.
