    I am from Arkansas in the US… I have grown to like bubble tea. I don’t find the pearls to be slimy, more chewy. But I honestly prefer just the milk tea alone. But there are several bubble tea places in my area now, so it is becoming quite popular.

    I make those same noises when eating Xiao Long Baos! The secret to eating dumplings with lots of juice is to poke a hole or take a small bite first. Then you drink up all the juice first! Another great vid Sarah!

    OMG! That panda bun is sooo cute! 🐼I won’t have the heart to eat it.😆 Shanghai style Shao Long Bao 小籠飽 has very thin but chewy skin that holds the pork and soup inside. Usually it’s eaten with finely sliced ginger and red vinegar. The ones you had looked delicious too! 🤤Be careful with the hot soup inside though!😄 I like bubble tea but rarely do I drink it b/c there is too much sugar.😁

    Chinatown is great. In fact, if I were to live in one of the big "modern" cities of Japan, I'd choose Yokohama. It has one of my favorite skylines in the world and watching the sunset (from Osanbashi Pier) is a must!
    p.s. The steamed pork bun I had in Chinatown was good, but the steamed eel bun I had (on Miyajima) was GREAT.

    For me, I'd have soup dumpling, milk tea and sesame balls all day.
    Then I'd find a takoyaki place after leaving Chinatown....my all time favorite snack!
    If there is an all you can eat takoyaki joint, they'd probably ask me to leave.
    As for the soup dumpling, I always make a small hole in the skin first to drink the soup from it, keeps you from getting burned and messy.

    How's your Mandarin? Can you still speak a little, like for ordering food? By the way, you're a pro at poking the straw into bubble tea, no leakage! I'm a big fan of bubble tea, and where I'm from there's a healthy competition from all the drink shops trying to outdo each other with signature flavours or unique toppings. From what I understand from the people who don't like bubble tea is the concurrent eating and drinking at the same time. I guess it's something of an acquired drinking experience. That panda bun didn't look very happy being eaten 🤣

    • @TokyoFoodieSarah
      @TokyoFoodieSarah  3 года назад +5

      I can still speak basic mandarin, but I’d need to get used to speaking for maybe a few days 😂

    I love Chinese food as well. You should maybe consider trying to dress up in a Chinese dress with your friends some day actually, I heard those look very gorgeous (if you can find a good place to rent them, since getting a brand new one could be expensive I reckon). And yeah, dumplings... Chinese dumplings really are something for sure! I always try to go on lunchtime in some Chinese restaurants here in London as that's when they do dim-sum and have an absolutely insane amount of variety of these things. Yum! :P

    I'm not a fan of Bubble Tea. However, I did grow up having tapioca pudding. Unfortunately, my bothers and parents always had texture issues with food. So, I was alone in enjoying tapioca pudding. I could only get it if I was out-and-about by myself.

    i Since you've been a RUclipsr for a while, how many takes does it take to get the filming clip (as in how many times do you have to repeat yourself before you get the recording you want)? I like bubble tea but learned I'm allergic to Tapioca (sad times). My favorite of what you ate is the Sesame ball. I've found the touristy options in Yokohama to be overpriced - it's hard to find a good restaurant, so I want to record that one. Do you have any other recommendations in the area? Are you sure that Tohoku Jinka is the right restaurant in your description? There's another one and from the restaurant outside pictures, might be it: 151-3 Yamashitacho, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0023. Please confirm so I can add Star it on my Google Maps.
