    The fried mochi dumpling with pork, shrimp and veggies is called "hom sui gok" in Cantonese. Jin dui is the fried sesame ball with sweet bean filling.

      @@lynnechamberlain5962 Yes, Sydney has a lot of excellent dim sum eateries, many on par with HK as many of the dim sum chefs are from HK. Sydney has great ethnic eats! 😋

    In the part of the US where I live, trendy foods are usually added to existing menus at existing restaurants, they don’t open shops that just sell the item. Unless.....it’s something that they know will last. Like frozen yogurt. When that first came out there were a lot of frozen yogurt shops that popped up. Most of them are still around, they just add new items to keep up with trends....such as toppings like boba, poppers, fruit buffets, cereals. Etc... Like Pink Berry and Green Frog yogurt shops. They also made some self serve...like Green Frog.
    *Have you guys ever been to a Green Frog yogurt shop? If not, you should see if there is one in Hawaii while you’re there. I really think you’ll enjoy it because you get your own yogurt and choose all your toppings from the topping bar, and it’s sold by weight. They have 3 different sized bowls*
    If you do go, browse the topping bar before you get your yogurt so you’re not overwhelmed. ✌🏻💕😊

    What a lovely Chinatown. Especially the smaller side streets which are so atmospheric! The food all looked good to me, particularly the ham sui gok (fried mochi dumpling). Thank you for an interesting walk on a beautiful, sunny day, Shinichi. I hope Satoshi's headache cleared up quickly. ❤️❤️

    Hi Shinichi, Loved the tour around Chinatown. Great atmosphere seeing the different shops, temples and places to eat. Liked the look of the Taiwanese chicken and crispy duck. Panda 🐼 buns looked cute as well. Can I recommend to Satoshi to get some “Tiger Balm Ointment “ the white one. As I noticed he gets headaches a few times. I get migraines and I rub this on my forehead and temples and it alleviates the pain. Worth trying out , hope it helps. Look forward to more videos and hope you guys get to Hawaii this year . Arigato 👍😀

    Yes, I think about three or four years before the COVID scare happened there was a major hype over Taiwanese fried chicken. It started because Hot Star Chicken opened a shop in downtown Toronto and then other Chinese eateries started selling their own version of the Hot Star product. But from looking at the pictures of these items, they mostly looked commercialized and unauthentic and the prices weren't reasonable because it's expensive to set up any kind of food business in this city. The three other crazes that also boomed out around the same time were the Thai Ice-cream, Hawaiian Poke and Korean Friend Chicken. I think only the Korean Fried Chicken has lasted through the hype and it's because the stores are mostly restricted within areas where there are a lot Korean restaurants so people continue to get these products. I could be wrong with my opinion and someone from Toronto can correct me.

I was so curious about the cloud ice cream shop they looked interesting. But those photos on the wall were so interesting, and the temple is so beautiful. I hope your feeling better Satoshi since the making of this video thanks Shinichi this was an amazing experience. 🤗💛👍

    Some other common fillings you may find in the shredded coconut mochi are: red bean paste, dried shredded coconut flakes with sesame seeds, white sugar, and ground peanuts, and sometimes sweet black sesame paste. Please let us know in a future video if you try other flavors! Would love to know your favorite! :)

    i know what you guys mean about food trends in your city. the last big food trend we had -- or at least i can remember -- was the Tennessee HOT fried chicken. this place called Howlin' Ray's opened up, and within a year, there must've been a dozen or more Tennessee hot fried chicken joints throughout Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.
    of course we went through a Boba trend and a Poké trend, not to mention the food truck trend, and so-on and so-on and so-on...

    I always look at who takes the biggest piece or the one that has the most filling. It's usually always the same person. In my family we were taught to give the best and biggest piece away always.

    • @melissadunton3534
      @melissadunton3534 2 года назад +1

      As a child our mom usually cut things in half to be fair, but if we cut them in half then the one who didn’t cut got to choose which half they wanted. This kept it fair and the one cutting always made sure it was as even as possible since they knew they couldn’t choose first.
      As an adult it seems ridiculous to worry about something like that and if it’s still something that bothers someone who is an adult that is kind of worrying behavior. I mean...as an adult you can always buy more if you want it....and we all should have learned not to be a glutton in our childhood. As with myself and the hubby or my son...or anyone really, I always take the smaller piece because I don’t eat as much as they do and I have digestive issues. That is unspoken, but we all know I want the smallest piece. So...since Satoshi and Sinichi are adults, who have been together for 20+ years...they probably also know who will want which piece.

    That coconut mochi looked really good. I don’t like anko bean paste, so when you bit into it and it was custard I was so happy that I clapped my hands. 😂 Plus, coconut is my favorite fruit(?)/flavor(?), anything coconut...sweet or savory...I just love it all~!
