East 12 Street - "The Favela" WEEKLY WALK THROUGH DYSTOPIAN 🔥🏫 OAKLAND

Took a stroll along E. 12th St., a corridor plagued by a persistent drug encampment for years. Here's what caught my eye:
1. Numerous generators humming dangerously close to highly flammable materials, resulting in multiple structures already consumed by flames.
2. EVERY TREE 🌳-symbolic of Oakland-stands lifeless. Where are the environmental advocates?
3. Piles of trash abound, turning this area into a regular illegal dumping ground.
4. Society, both drivers and pedestrians, appears resigned and desensitized to the surreal chaos of this dystopian reality.

I starting working in Oakland 52 years ago. So sad to see this once beautiful city quickly unraveling due to failed government policies. 😢
The police would love to do more, but they have their hands tied.
