Thanks for posting this great memory! We were actually at this amazing show! This was a fundraiser for the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock, California. The lineup included Night Ranger, George Lynch, Ace Frehley and Bun E. Carlos. I still have the setlist that Joel Hoekstra gave me after the show. There was a rock museum tour, drinks and dinner included with the show. We also got to hang out with all of the performers after the show. I have a picture of my wife with "Frankenstein" (aka Eddie Van Halen's original guitar). There were many guitars, and other historical musical instruments, on display in the museum. This was a really fun night that I will always remember. By the way, not only is Brad Gillis one amazing guitar player, but he is also a really nice guy, just like the rest of Night Ranger and everyone else performing there that night. 🎸 🎸 🎸
I mean I've heard Lynch play his style of solos very well in the 80's , but I didn't think Lynch could play Night Ranger type solos like this . WOW he sounded right at home here . Pretty cool that Lynch and Gillis have their own pieced together Frankenstrat guitars they put together with odd obscure parts and made them legendary respectfully .
Wow, Joel Hoekstra can adapt and shred in any band! A great "do-it-all" player. He's a nice person too. Credit to George here as well. Beautiful playing by all three of them!!!
Of course he is underrated....definition: "Something that has not received the merit, recognition or praise it deserves." When you hear people mention guitarist from that era they rarely mention Brad....or Jake E Lee or Vito Bratta or Reb Beach...etc etc.... Just because YOU may know who they are doesn't change the fact that the majority of people who aren't guitar players or musicians don't know who these guys are and don't give them the credit they deserve....hence the word, underrated. You hear about Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhodes and George Lynch and Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. The 80s and early 90's had a ton of underrated guitarists that never got the accolades for their playing that they deserved. Jeff Watson, John Sykes, Shaun Lane, Jason Becker, Scotti Hill, Joey Allen, Mike Wilton, Chris DeGarmo the list goes on and on....all very underrated guitarists.
@@johnnyguitar65 He's underrated because people who aren't guitarists or musicians may not have heard of him? That's stretching that definition a bit. He is certainly not underrated by those people who are guitarists, musicians, and even fans. That's all that really matters here.
When heard Brad Gillis play ferry’s wear boots on ozzy’s live album, I had rethink why I really never gave him enough credit...what can I say about old Georgie boy, he’s still killing it.
Brad only had three days to learn all those Sabbath tunes. You can hear him hitting honkers and fucking up all over the place... but that's what's so endearing about that record.
Brad Gillis is the most comfortable person playing guitar that i've ever seen, i mean it's just another part of his body and he plays it such weird stances and nothing effects his playing, the man is a beast!
George Lynch kills it. Night Ranger had one of the best guitar duo’s of all time!! Jeff Watson and Brad Gillis. Brad Gillis Replaced Randy freakin Rhoads and Brad wasn’t even the best guitar player in Night Ranger at the time, but both were excellent.
Yeah I saw him fill for Randy after the accident (RIP) and I was not impressed. Like you said he wasn't even the best guitarist in Night Ranger. I guess he was the only one Ozzy could get on such short notice? So he might have filled in for him but that doesn't mean he was on Randy's level, not even close.
I met George in the mid 90s. He was dating a very close friend of mine(RIP Julie). He was a very gracious guy. He stayed at a nowhere apt in Fresno, CA for a day, and I made them(him and Jules)egg white breakfast. It was her sister, Jennifer's place, and I was staying with her. Jen made sure I wouldn't fanboy about Lynch, but truth be told, I wasn't impressed with Dokken so I didnt have a problem with all that.
What a wonderful clusterfuck of greatness!
emphasis on the clusterfuck 🤣
@strangevisions5162 Yea!! I'm like w t f should my ears go...oh it doesn't matter....cause it's gotta be great...right?! my brain!! 😂
Gillis and Lynch in the same stage is a metal moment .
and Joel Hoekstra
Without a doubt!!
No. It is a page straight from the cheese bucket. Fast doesn't mean good it just means fast

I love Lynch but Joel Hoekstra has became probably my favorite guitarist.

F yeah this is great live music right here. Three very talented guitatists and some stellar bass drums and vocals. Not to mention excellent song!
Holy crap! How did I miss this until now? That was phenomenal.
Who is the guitarist with the Les Paul? And how many rebounds does he average with the Celtics? 😁🏀🎸
Mr. Scary George Lynch gracing us with his Artistic Pieces of Art. A passionate poet in full expression mode (on 🔥 🎸 🪓 🤟🏽🤝👍)
Brad Gillis, Joel Hoekstra, and George Lynch. Enough said.
Yeow!
2 of my 3 guitar gods playing on stage together... Incredible! The 3rd being Randy Rhoads.
Lynch rules!!!
I mean, cmon man!! Brad Gillis and George Lynch on stage together?! Not too many things in life are this cool!!!!!
Being in a band sometimes you just have to rock n roll with it That was awesome!

SICK!!!! All three players!
Ok, I should just throw my guitar in the trash now !
hahaha I was thinking the same thing. so much talent on that stage!!
These guys have an insanely excellent live show!
Damn. That put a smile on my face.
Wow, Joel Hoekstra can adapt and shred in any band! A great "do-it-all" player. He's a nice person too. Credit to George here as well. Beautiful playing by all three of them!!!
After hearing this solo back in the day, I had to have a Floyd Rose! Brad Gillis is very underrated.
bohdilama he’s not underrated. I hate when people say that
Underrated by whom? Bass players?
No he is not! You just don't know better.

One of the best Rock songs of all time. Beast mode.
What? Joel Hoekstra is not on the title?
Never knew lynch got on stage w night ranger until I saw this tonight. All legends and deservedly so.

!!!George is the BEAST!!!
Wish I was there!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
George is a real bad ass.
Brad was the man that saved Ozzy after Rhoades died
Brad Gillis is the most comfortable person playing guitar that i've ever seen, i mean it's just another part of his body and he plays it such weird stances and nothing effects his playing, the man is a beast!
I used to think the same thing about Stevie Ray Von. Watch some of his live stuff, it looks like the guitar is his third arm.
miracle....
Hoekstra is amazing
