  • Lynette Setzkorn is known for her laughter and joy ~ now. But it was not always so. Childhood religious trauma and a major loss at the age of 12 led her to self destructive methods of coping, self loathing, and grief. With the help of a 12 step program, she found recovery, but when the love of her life died traumatically, Lynette found herself not wanting to continue this life. With a fierce case of PTSD, prevented from leaving by her fear of death, Lynette experienced a spontaneous healing and then the gift of Suzanne Giesemann's work.

I watch lots of spiritual podcasts, read lots of books, both paper & audio. Suzanne is easily top of my list. I have never commented before, but I need to tell you Lynette, that I could tell your heart was wide open & your love and graciousness was like the beautiful light & music we hear about. Thank you for sharing all of that, I feel hugged.

An early family joke about me cut deep. I used to laugh along with other family members when yet again my father would say to me, "You were 17 days late, and never caught up." Although I laughed, this joke damaged me. To me the message in the joke was that I would never be able to amount to anything. I was doomed to be mediocre at best. As a senior , I finally admitted how painful that memory was. At 77, I believe I have healed.

I’m so sorry you experienced that, Kathy. So glad to hear that you’ve healed from it. If you get a chance, there’s a book by Lesley Lupe called “Every Breath is Precious,” and in it, she talks about “blindfolded bodhisattvas,” bright, shiny lights dropped into families where they struggle. It takes a lot of time, but they tend to come into their own later in life. Perhaps that’s you… bless you.

And I hadn’t even noticed it had returned until Mike mentioned it in that gallery reading. So very grateful. I know you will find it again. We do not dishonor our loved ones by finding joy again in this life. Mine are always hollering, “it’s just the blink of an eye, human life! Enjoy it! We’ll be together soon enough.” (And when I’m irked by just about all of my dearest ones being there, I’ll occasionally holler back, EASY FOR YOU TO SAY!”) ☺

Last night my mom, who has passed, showed up in an unexplainable unexpected way with a ladybug crawling across the top of my laptop! Lynnette I have obsessively read , studied and listened vast amounts on grief and “on life after life”, searching for some sanity in the madness of my grief for over a year now . How very few can transmit with such a transparency “ That Grief “ , a grief I can recognised in the depth of my soul , in the privacy of my pain . Your words have resonated with me deeply, a feeling I don’t easily find in the words / teachings/ reading of many awakened people , probably because Love, Grief , Loss and Kindness are words so overused nowadays. You share your story in a spirit and depth of thought that is a teaching by itself . My eternal gratitude .

I’m so glad you heard it. I have chills reading your comment. It is one of the most profound things I’ve ever heard and that he could find it in his heart to forgive her murderer is stunning. Hector shines a light for all of us. I will be eternally grateful for him and I hope to meet him on the other side. My hero.

Yes Suzanne, Lynette is totally awesome and I join in the hug. ‘We are good the way we are.’………Mike told you (Lynette) about your relationship with him while he is over the veil and you are experiencing your human life. I guess ‘we are good the way we are’ now on our earthly paths too. So many great words of wisdom. So many inspiring tales (experiences). You are still a ‘Social Worker’ and Teacher Lynette. Loved this interview and learnt so much, or rather, reminded of what I already know💜🙏💫😘

Thank you for this. Right from the very beginning Lynette grabbed my attention because of her description of her experience with guilt, fear and deep sense of unworthiness and separation - the core of the ego thought system as Jesus presented it in His Course In Miracles.
Also identify with being a long timer in 12 Step Programs from the late 70's too and my working of the 11th step has led me down many roads that all converge on an alter of a Loving God and that we are all One. I continually marvel at the exquisiteness of the 12 Steps and the principles contained within each step especially with Joe and Charlies workshops and Charlies 2 books. Always a deepening and a surrender and another step forward along the path trusting the next step will unveil itself at the right time and in the right way.
Thanks for sharing and thanks Suzanne for your sharing and all the guests you interview. You are a light in my life and in friends of mine lives too.

Wow, Lynette! I was so moved by hearing your story today. I was absolutely riveted, and in tears, and found so many Synchronicities in it. It was so good to feel like i got to know you a little bit. I related to so many things in your story, including a traumatic childhood, going through addiction to deal with it, and losing a soul mate it 2012. I started having a spiritual awakening in 2020, but i still feel like what Suzanne said about you: "wow, so much pain". I still don't quite understand how you got to where you are today. Was it your meditation practice? I don't feel like I'm meditating right. And even as i say that, i realize it's absurd. 😅But I'm still struggling with so much fear and depression and pain, and some days i feel like i can't bear it any longer. I feel like i know god now, but i still feel very... tired, I guess. I'm searching for answers, but i don't even think I know what my question is, if that makes any sense. I just want to be ok! I want to be able to laugh like you, Lynette!! ❤ I am so grateful for this podcast. Thank you for all that you ladies do 🙏

I’ve lost 5 significant others in the past 3 years, my mum, uncle, youngest son, my eldest child, she’s my only daughter, and my aunt, also 2 beloved pets, so I’ve wondered what the hell is going on but, you’re right, we have no choice, we have to plough through this crap there’s no other way and try to remember life goes on in a different realm, hard as that is..
