Dude at my lgs has a valukut scapeshift deck. Routinly either top 8s or just wins rcqs both in and out of state. Valukut still has a place in the format people just refuse to experiment with it.
At one time I was trying to build a 4CC deck that essentially fit a Scapeshift finish into a (light) Omnath shell, with a few Bring to Light as the main way to do it. I've never played enough Modern to do any testing with it, but it felt good on paper. I want Scapeshift to work because it's the closest thing to the way Splinter Twin plays - control a few key things and stall just long enough to win all at once.
T1, mana elf, t2, lotus cobra before 2nd land drop, drop land, use LF trigger to cast aftermath analyst, t3, nissa resurgent, play fabled passage, sac FP, have 4 floating mana and 4 on board (8 total on turn 3), play spelunking, play another land, 7 mana total - cast scape shift, bring in 3 more FP, sac 3 more FP - sitting on 15 total mana. Activate aftermath analyst to get back a MINIMUM of 8 lands from graveyard - now 27 mana. (This is what i do with it, but there's options. I use doppelgang, worldsoul rage, and villainous wealth) Then ideally, I cast either villainous wealth for 24, or world soul rage for lethal.
That could be a fun Unbannable? video! Field of the Dead has a lot of history to talk about and is my personal favorite card banned in multiple formats
Please keep making these "Unplayable Deck" videos.
Discovered your channel randomly from my magic recs and have been really impressed by your style.
