Being found guilty in a kangaroo court doesn't mean Pep has been lied to. City were found guilty in Uefa's kangaroo court then CAS had a good laugh about it. This will end up in a proper court of law once City have been stitched up again. Can't see criminal Pinto's word being taken very seriously in a real court of law.

City are paying Lord Pannick KC, £10,000 an hour for their defence and their total costs will be astronomical. If they lose, an appeal will be guaranteed. If that doesn't go in their favour, it will likely reach the civil courts. It will be the 26-27 or 27-28 season at least before this is sorted.

    • @jumpferjoy1st

That is the problem. All it will do is make sure the massive majority of the football public will want every single brick, the management, the owners, everything will be expunged from football. Lifetime bans, astronomical fines, anyone thinking about compensation for lost income will correctly be left with nothing. We could see Man City just get lifetime bans from ALL football and sod relegation. If the wanker Mansour thinks money wins, he needs to be locked up.
There is also going to be major fines against City for false accounting, we awaiting that cherry and Mansour will personally have to face that bundle of joy.

It took a year or so - and then neither of those Companies exist. Its the same thing - devious related party transactions, inflating sponsorships by roundtripping transactions. The delays here are not on their fault - but if they are found guilty, because its fraud, there will be sanctions against their executives, and could potentially be criminal. Thats why this is all happening slowly. Also with the lawyer costs - thats actually why City can't spend money on replacing Alvarez.

If they're proven guilty, their owners should automatically forfeit their "fit and proper" status and the club should either be forced into a sale, or expelled from the football pyramid. At a bare minimum, they should be relegated, given a 10 year transfer ban and a 20-30 points per season deduction to ensure promotion is nigh impossible.
Fortunately the Premier League believe they've got City nailed. I can't see how they wriggle out of it based on the evidence I've seen. The corruption int he emails seems completely blatant. I don't know how they explain their way out of rule breaking, when (I'm certain) they acknowledge that their actions break the rules in the emails.
The league needs to send a message to other teams that this behavior won't be tolerated and the punishment has to outweigh the benefits of doing it in the first place. An unprecedented fine will be expected for the lack of cooperation, but that alone won't be enough. Especially when Everton and Forrest have already had weighty points deductions for far less serious incidents. I believe the Premier League were intentionally setting a precedent with those punishments to reduce the likelihood of a successful appeal by City. We can all only hope they're not as complacent *ahem* (paid off) *ahem* as UEFA. I won't lie. It worried me that City met the government over this

To say that certain players and certain staff will stay IF city are found guilty and are pushed down the football pyramid that these certain employees will work for a lesser salary to what they can procure and have and can procure according to their skill set before, has ro be questioned. So Pep earns what, £15m plus a year? This is even before player wages etc. Also to allude to that certain achievements will not be taken away (if found guilty), as the ramifications of this become overwhelming for certain situations is a Glasgow kiss to the ordinary fan and staff of 100s of other football clubs in England. You cannot compare the investment monetary and more importantly socially to F1, rugby, etc to this situation with the EPL issues ATM. The fact is the FA dropped the ball back when Roman came in to sports wash a situation in the EPL. Football has lost it's heart when it was allowed for certain individuals and states to own an integral component to our society. Our passion is soooo hard that we allowed it in. Strange that once an owner of a football club who is richer than most countries, that certain "situations" were changed! Can we PLEASE start to give back to the fans. Would have been nice if you said that CAS had in their case a lot of things thrown out due to time limits as well. As this issue is not a legal case, it is irrelevant as to what happens in regards to this is also irrelevant to the law of the UK. What is being forgotten is the belief and wanting of the FAN.

City owners will pay whomever is necessary for this to go away. Justice is an illusion, in this World it is all about Power and Greed if you don't understand that I got beachfront property in Kansas to sell you.

Wow, man city going out of business 😳, even if they are found not guilty people will automatically assume they bribed there way and the titles will be tainted, not revered in everyones eyes so will effectively be null and void

It's gotta be relegation. Take away their titles. Otherwise, what's the deterrent for this kind of cheating in the future? The message they will be sending is that it's okay to cheat as long as you win, and as long as you grease the right hands. We all know how this ends, though. City are found innocent, and someone moves into a bigger house. The will come to be known as a league where you can just buy titles. Newcastle will be next.

If they are found guilty what happens to the leagues they have won, what happens about the champions League and what happens to the folks that were relegated due to their games against City? If we find out we have a "cheat" in the league, the league will lose its validity, it certainly is concerning times

We have half a dozen cheats in the league at least.

If City get away of all this, this league has lost credibility and quality. City literally bought the titles via loopholes, exploited the rules and we have no respect to the 'greatest team' from Pep PL era. That has to stay with them forever. Sad sad period for football and the fans.

Man city are being difficult (for me that shows guilt) why can’t the premier league suspend them until situation is resolved. That then would put the ball in Man City’s court. Therefore enticing them to act appropriately and get this over with quickly.

30 point deduction every year for 5 seasons straight. They can and may well stay up but theyll fight tooth and nail to do so each year and will miss europe every year

You know. The only way we can get the result is if theyre cleared everyone should boycott the premier league. And I mean everyone. This isn't acceptable. Sport washing at its finest. Chelsea fan here we got a transfer ban for tapping up a young talent. These guys have 10000 times worse charges. Imagine inflating your own company eithad as a sponsor and giving a recently bought out city football club a massive united level plus more money on top for a relegation battling team. Absolutely absurd.
