exactly i mean... isnt that kind of the definition of tolerating something. like you dont like it but you let it go. thats tolerance to me. i dont like my dog barking when the door rings. or a stranger approaches, but i tolerate it for the first few seconds and tell him hes a good boy because he will let me know if there is an intruder one day if there ever is one. I dont like paying taxes but i tolerate them because i want to live in this country. i dont like the idea of gay marriage i think its biblically wrong. but i tolerate anyone who is gay and love them with the same ferver i do anyone else. because im called to love others. the person gets my love and respect their view gets my toleration until i can no longer tolerate it. like abortion i will not give tolerance to abortion. etc. etc.

@@Cbawls True, it is an opinion of a person unpaid by interest groups that PragerU is sort of famous for. Also said person doesn't claim himself to be a university. Also, his videos are better sourced.

Richard S. I can agree only with the fact that prager is purely for conservatives. Calling it junk food dissapoints me. There are absolutely valid points that this person is bringing up, but i still find it to be just as opinionated as critical. I don’t believe what prager U is teaching should be devaluated, even if some facts end up being devalidated.
All i seem to notice is facts being countered, but there are no substantial enough (to me, anyway) cross-examinations in the points that they’re making (of the video’s i’ve watched anyway, i cannot say ive watched all of them. I’m not an american so i mostly watch prager U for its specific insight on justice and so forth. Thats my perspective)
Edit: upon more thought i see the comparison to junk food as prager U’s youtube is not an in-depth analysis but rather 5-7 minute videos. Ofcourse, then, can you bring up facts, statisticts or points that are not mentioned, specific articles or facts not recognized. But i still stand by my point. I don’t believe the message of prager’s arguments can at all be canceled.

    • @Richard_is_cool
      @Richard_is_cool 4 года назад

@@Cbawls You are free to stand by your point, but you have to understand that PragerU is NOT a university. It IS a youtube channel. That's it. I don't know, maybe you know that, but you used the word "teaching". It's a youtube channel with expensive graphics.
Part of it is my fault, there are more famous videos critiquing PragerU. This for example: ruclips.net/video/EM7BgrddY18/видео.html , this playlist: ruclips.net/video/iUfvyH9tJ-A/видео.html or just search "prageru debunked" or something :).

But one day, during the Syrian “refugee” crisis, I said we should have closed borders and we should deport these “refugees” who has been causing crime. The left starting attacking me with all the worst names from the book. I’m also non-white too so once they found out I was, I was called even way worse names. These people who claim to help minorities are attacking minorities if they disagree with them. Mind you, most of these leftists are white. Long story short, I’m now a centrist many years later. This is the best PragerU video. (I watched all the 5 mins and many more). It contains the essence of all the others. This half minute is the creme de la creme of all PragerU messages: “In order to be genuinely tolerant of someone, you first have to disagree with them, since you don’t tolerate people you agree with. The classic definition of “tolerance” means to recognize and respect others’ beliefs and practices without sharing them. Notice the element of disagreement is key to tolerance. Without it, true tolerance is not possible. This is critical. We don’t “tolerate” people we agree with-we’re on the same side! We only tolerate people we differ with, yet still choose to treat decently and with respect.”

For example, I believe we should discriminate against and deport illegal invaders whom we dishonestly call "immigrants." If I enter Mexico illegally or North Korea illegally, who in the world would have sympathy for me? No one! Political correctness is just a mind control device that is the enemy of honesty and common sense. All immigrants are by definition legal. @熊ちゃん-h7t 3 года назад +1

@@bembbie Here is the thing: by tolerating intolerance, you become intolerant. As paradoxical as it sounds, one cannot be tolerant without vehemently opposing intolerance. The same thing applies with intolerance. In order to be intolerant, one must be intolerant of intolerance, but that would make them tolerant. Hence, the paradox.
It is not a yin and yang thing. They are not equals of each other, and intolerance will always be the one opposed in favor of tolerance. This is the only logical answer simply because even while avoiding the “intolerance of intolerance” paradox, nobody can be fully intolerant without having to be intolerant of everything else, including themselves, their morals, family, and so much more. But with tolerance, you can be tolerant of everything (just not intolerance).
And as for the video presenter talking about how discussion is vital to producing an elitism of ideas, intolerance is actually detrimental to that. Specifically, being intolerant of a person’s intrinsic characteristics. By being intolerant of a person for who they are (as opposed to their opinions), a discussion cannot be made with that person. Therefore, it is necessary to tolerate who someone is before a discussion can even begin. By denying the validity of a person based on features that cannot consciously be changed, it is actually the fault of the intolerant person for hindering discussion.

You want to know the most tolerant group of people? Atheists. Most say you can believe whatever you want but don't try to force it on the general public. @@lautz73
“they want to deny them the basic freedoms that the right enjoy.”
The idea that all human beings deserve the same rights derives from the Judeo-Christian culture. And I say that, even though I am an agnostic atheist. Study of nature alone gives little space for compassion:
“Who trusted God was love indeed
      And love Creation's final law
Tho' Nature, red in tooth and claw
With ravine, shriek'd against his creed”
      Alfred Lord Tennyson's In Memoriam A. H. H., 1850, Canto 56
So the left by denying Judeochristianity being part of the white culture, abolishes any justification of itself to demand human rights.
The right and the center of the political spectrum acknowledge these rights even for persons that oppose them. When the people of the left speak about compassion or justice they do it because they have unconscious bias due to Judeochristianity. This bias go away each time the socialists, or their mirror brothers, the national socialists come into power. Each time they choose to target a different social or racial group. The Nazis in Germany targeted inferior (according to them) races. They said that Jews had accumulated all wealth and power which made the life of the people miserable.
Today, the so called humanitarian left targets mainly white males, Christians and sometimes Asians. Leftists today, actually use the same arguments with nazis'.
On the other hand, they tend to justify the muslim ideopolitical system, even if it is supported by the most hateful religion ever existed.
      ----------------------
“Even so far as to deny them a cake to celebrate their wedding or a venue to hold their wedding or reception or the ability to adopt a child if they wish.”
First of all marriage is part of right and center culture. The left considers the marriage to be a social construct created to suppress women. For a leftist to get married is a cultural appropriation which is (according to the left) an unforgivable sin at least when white people do it. If you say that there are financial benefits in marriage there’s always the option for cohabitation contract or living together agreement. Even though, I think that the vast majority of the people (except maybe for some hardcore religious people) don’t deny gay marriage even if they don’t approve. It’s the “live and let live” which the Left finds so hard to accept.
You may find it difficult to accept but even hardcore religious people have the right to live the way they want. A woman has the right to say no for an affair, from a person she doesn’t like no matter the reasons. Seemingly a pastry cook has the right to deny a task if it contradicts his/hers religious beliefs. The in love gay couple can always find another pastry cook to make their cake. I would never demand from a muslim or a vegan restaurant to cook a meal with pork. I would simply go somewhere else. In fact the left would consider me as racist or insensitive if I did so.
      -------------
“or the ability to adopt a child if they wish”
      About child adoption now.
It is proven scientifically that children’s psychic health is better when they have a mom and a dad. One-parent families do exist but this is not the best for the children. So demanding the right of adoption from same sex couples is selfish and heartless.
      ------------
“Atheists. Most say you can believe whatever you want but don't try to force it on the general public.”
As I mentioned above I am an agnostic atheist. This doesn’t mean that I have the same views with all other atheists. Atheism is just the lack of belief in a God, nothing more. Atheism cannot stand by itself as an ideology, because it is not an ideology.
I completely agree with the statement about not forcing to others your beliefs. This is not what YOU support though, as I have already demonstrated. It is the left that demonizes anyone who has a different view.

@@Nuthor Humans deserving the same rights isn't judeo-christian in origin. The earliest, the jews, believed themselves to be "gods chosen" and therefore place themselves above everyone else. They also approved of slavery which makes another a second class citizen. In addition they put men above women. Possibly the earliest for nearly true equality would have been the Native Americans since some had matriarchal societies. Possibly also the early Greeks or Romans with the first democracies. Nature doesn't treat anybody as equals. They have a power hierarchy, no place for equality in that.
      Judeo-Christianity isn't "white culture". It's multicultural.
The right don't allow for equality as long as they try to deny rights to anybody that doesn't agree with them. How long was the fight for marriage equality and who was the most vocal for and against it. Some parts even want to deny atheists equal rights by saying that the Founding Fathers meant for such things to only apply to christians. Hitler espoused christian beliefs and said that he was "doing gods work" in killing the jews and the "inferior races"
It seems that the left is targeting white males because that's the largest make up for the right, the older white male. I know of no policies that treat asians in this regard from either side of the political spectrum. If you would inform me of such I will gladly look them up.
Nobody justifies the extreme muslim position. Moderate muslims are no more hateful than moderate christians or moderate jews. You have extremists on both the right and the left. The extreme right wants to kill the LGBT and force everybody to become christian. The extreme left wants to eliminate all religions from the planet. I'm happy to say that I don't fall on either side. I'm independent, maybe just a bit left leaning.
Holy matrimony is what the right believe in. They confuse that and marriage all of the time. Some would even deny that a marriage done in front of a judge or justice of the peace is even a real marriage because it wasn't done by a preacher and didn't mention their god. It's the right, extreme cases, that view it as a means to oppress women. The left isn't about oppressing anybody To get the same results as a marriage when not married takes many legal hoops to jump through and costs more than a simple wedding. If they actually took the "live and let live" policy then why was it that it took a SCOTUS decision for SSM to become legal? Why were so many on the right opposed to it and even pass legislation to deny it in some states? Were you aware that many of the same arguments against SSM were used by the religious to try and deny interracial marriage? Not a good record for the religious right when it comes to the right to marry.
The religious have to obey all of the same laws that everybody else does and if it says they can't discriminate because of sexual orientation then no matter their religious beliefs they can't discriminate because of it. If you allow exceptions for religious belief then you would have to allow christians to be discriminated against by other religions. Try that and listen to how they scream about it. "The in love gay couple could always find another pastry chef to make their cake". Just like blacks in the south could find a lunch counter that would serve them? Or like any other time people were discriminated against for being who they are? That argument didn't work then and it's shameful that it's still being used now. A muslim or vegan place doesn't even offer pork so they don't have to make it. The bakery made custom wedding cakes, it was a service that they already offered.
Studies have shown that children do better in two PARENT households. That they do better in "male-female" households is unproven at best. The only "study" to ever say that was discredited do to shown biases in the way that they compiled their data. No other study has shown anything else or too limited in the available data.
You claim to be an agnostic atheist (as I am) but what you have shown otherwise in your reply. I must give you credit for correctly defining what atheism is (a rarity among the right). You haven't proven that the left demonizes anybody with a different view. You have just parroted the views of the right without even looking into the truth of their claims. I am completely impartial and admit that the left isn't always correct in what they believe. To them anybody that disagrees with them or doesn't allow them to do as they wish is intolerant. Being intolerant of intolerance is what we should all be. The claim a war on christianity when they aren't allowed to do as they wish even if it contradicts the Constitution (that they claim to follow so much). They shout intolerance when they aren't allowed to put their iconography in post offices or on court house lawns while they deny other religions equal space, directly against the 1st amendment. It's seen as an endorsement of 1 religion over any other. I support your right to be wrong but that doesn't mean that i won't correct you if you are (and you are in most of your reply). You have used the same tired tropes that have been dis-proven so many times and yet are still believed by those that push them.

      @@lautz73 PART 1
“Humans deserving the same rights isn't judeo-christian in origin. The earliest, the jews, believed themselves to be "gods chosen" and therefore place themselves above everyone else. They also approved of slavery which makes another a second class citizen. In addition they put men above women.”
Judeo-Christianity is a term which is used to group Christianity and Judaism TOGETHER. Otherwise we would be talking of just Judaist tradition. It’s the blend of the two cultures-religions.
But just have a pose here. If a non leftist says for example that african history is full of war between tribes, slave trade of other blacks (and whites and browns), rapes, and of course treatment of women as objects for trade, he will be stigmatized as racist. But it’s ok when the left does it against Europeans, I guess.
      -------------------------
”Possibly the earliest for nearly true equality would have been the Native Americans since some had matriarchal societies.”
Either this is true or not it’s of no importance. Humanitarianism as an idea still derives from the European culture which has it’s base in
Judeo-Christianity . Native Americans have nothing to do with that. According to leftist scholars, the evil white colonialists changed the society of the natives Americans from matriarchy to patriarchy.

Nevertheless there is no hard evidence for the so called equality among native Americans. In many cases groups tended to be rather aggressive and warlike, and bands and villages outside of their allied confederacies were never safe from their raids.
Even left sympathizers “scholars” cannot completely distort the truth. For example Tiffany Mulally who supports your claims admits that the gender roles were different even though she says that neither was viewed as inferior or less important than another. This is exactly the Christian point of view, which the left considers to be sexist.
Here I must point out this:
The left claims that a matriarchy is egalitarian compare to a patriarchy which is not. This claim alone suggests:
      1. That gender differences do exist which contradicts the narrative of the left, about no gender or even sex differences apart from the sexual organs.
      2. That women are superior human beings since a society under their lead is far better than a society under male lead. As Barack Obama had decraled: “If every nation on earth was run by women’ for 2 years, things would be better”. And they call the Right sexist!
      --------------------------
“Possibly also the early Greeks or Romans with the first democracies.”
I can’t believe you mention Greek and Roman civilizations to support your claims, since the Left supports that whites have no culture. Every group of people, every nation and every race should be proud of their tradition except for the whites.
Anyway Greeks and Romans set the bases of philosophy, science, medicine, etc. So they paved the way for the Christian theology which was based in great deal on greek or more accurately hellenistic way of thinking and philosophy. But the humanitarian principles introduced to roman society by Christianity didn’t exist before. “Amongst the major religions, the Judeochistian and Islamic traditions have very likely contributed most directly to the development of today’s humanitarian system. Notions to charity are central to all” ( Daniel G Maxwell, Kirsten Gelsdorf. Understanding the Humanitarian World). Your thesis that slavery was nonexistent in the Greco-Roman world or that women had equal rights is at least funny. White race was not the first to adopt slavery but it was the first to abolish it. Some African countries still have slaves.
      -------------------------
“Nature doesn't treat anybody as equals. They have a power hierarchy, no place for equality in that.”
So you admit that without a humanitarian religion (of any kind) there is no argument to support the demand of the Left for egalitarianism. Thanks for accepting my point.
      ----------------------------
      “Judeo-Christianity isn't "white culture". It's multicultural.”
Judeo-Christianity ethics appeared for the first time in the roman empire which was predominately a white state. Even Jews had already adopted the Greek Hellenistic culture. This cultural change was so deep that they had to have their sacred texts translated to greek in order to be able to read it.
It is true that even today, there are non whites, culturally appropriating Judeo-Christianity. For example in Latin America Hispanics tend to be Catholics, as that was the religion of their Spanish ancestors. In U.S. many ex slaves were converted to Christianity. This doesn’t mean that Judeo-Christianity has African roots. If that was true then we could say that samba is not a Latin dance, or cappuccino is not an Italian coffee. Btw I have no problem if non whites adopt white culture. Christianity after all is a religion for every human being no matter the colour of his/her skin.
This absurdity also is part of the Left. For example they say that eating Chinese food is cultural appropriation but avoiding Chinese restaurants due to the corona virus is also racist.
      --------------------------
“The right don't allow for equality as long as they try to deny rights to anybody that doesn't agree with them.”
You mean like the attacks on people wearing maga hats? It’s the leftists who shout at , punch, humiliate and shut the mouth of people like MRA Janice Fiamengo, the feminists Christina Hoff Sommers and Camille Paglia, the black anti Islamist Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the asian gay journalist Andy gno, and of course the straight white male thinker, Jordan Peterson and even the gay professional provocateur Milos Giannopoulos.
Anyone who the left disagrees with is labeled as a Nazi. And of course it’s Ok to punch a Nazi (according to the Left).
      ---------------------------
“How long was the fight for marriage equality and who was the most vocal for and against it.”
I’m not exactly sure of what you mean here. But it is the left who considers marriage as a social construct, a product of the patriarchy.
      ---------------------------
“Some parts even want to deny atheists equal rights by saying that the Founding Fathers meant for such things to only apply to Christians.”
How many are they 0.5%? Also, if they don’t punch you and hit you as the leftists do, they have the right to believe whatever they believe.
      ------------------
“Hitler espoused christian beliefs and said that he was "doing gods work" in killing the jews and the "inferior races"”
This is not true and you know it. Nazis practices were not part of the Christian teaching. Hitler wanted to establish a new religion based on the old Teutonic gods.
      -------------------
“It seems that the left is targeting white males because that's the largest make up for the right, the older white male.”
As I’ve demonstrated the leftists attack anyone who disagrees with them no matter their race or gender.
But they don’t stop there. They adopt the Nazis idea of collective responsibility:
“ I don’t like right or center ideas. Most white males like these ideas. So I will attack and abuse white males indiscriminately”. Nice!

I agree that people should treat each other with respect regardless of their views. It would have been beneficial for him to also cite the definition of the word respect (from Oxford Languages 'respect - due regard for the feelings, wishes, or rights of others') because the irony of this video is that he forgot to mention that that logic by default cannot apply to a viewpoint that in itself does not respect another person. That's like truly believing there should be no violence in the world, then punching someone in the face and being butthurt when they punch you back. We can have different viewpoints let's say on how to handle the economy, education etc., we can disagree on what we think would be the best solution in those matters and just agree to disagree without making it personal, no problem. Now let's look at a viewpoint such as: members of the LGBT do not deserve the same rights as heteronormative people. According to the video members of the the LGBT community should disagree with the viewpoint and still respect the person, right? Now read definition of respect and then the viewpoint again. The speaker disrepects the people who he then expects respect from, the speaker just disregarded his own logic. You cannot say to someone 'I don't believe you deserve the same rights as I do, we're not equal' and pretend you respect them, literally by definition you don't. Calling a statement like that homophobic (and if you look up the definition of homophobia it undoubtedly is) isn't intolerance to a viewpoint, it's stating fact, the same as saying the sky is blue. Now before everyone explodes I would like to highlight that the example I just used is very clear homophobia. However I disagree with people looking for racial, homophobic etc. narratives where there aren't any. There's no doubt there are people out there who almost want to get offended by everything and that's not right. If someone personally feels something someone said could be disrespecting somebody else it's good to have a conversation and speak openly about it, not immediately label people as racists etc., because more often than not the speaker had no ill intent. I guess the conclusion is that we should all respect each other as equals and be ok with people having different views than us. Following that thought, that doesn't mean you should expect tolerance to hate speech which as I explained earlier contradicts the very logic this video was trying to display. It doesn't have to be one extreme or the other. It doesn't have to be 'all conservatives are bigots and I choose to be offended by everything they say' and on the other hand 'I should be allowed to deny you basic human rights and have a problem when you call me the definition of what I am'. To receive respect you must also give respect and that works both ways.

I started home educating my children because my daughter had surgery on her eyes and would have been labeled “learning disabled”. She learned to read in first grade using a ruler to underline each sentence to keep them straight. By the end of first grade, she was reading at a 3rd grade level and I thought it pointless to put her in a public school (could not afford a private school). I used A Beka, Bob Jones, Sing, Spell Read and Write and Christian Liberty Academy as resources and was part of a very large home education group in New Jersey. I had my children take the Iowa Test every other year and they excelled. My children went to a public school for their 11th and 12th year of high school by their choice so they could “be in the mission field”. They learned nothing from regular classes and took dual unit college courses. Home educating was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever been through. My kids learned how to read, write, do “real math”, real history and had real thinking skills. But the Democrats say tolerance is hating white, straight, male, or Christian people.

Except they don’t hate them. They just want to make sure everyone has the same opportunities. If you think someone thinking minorities deserve the same rights is against white people you need help

@@shr9662 they do have the same rights, they have for a long time. What these morons want is to put themselves in a position of superiority. As well as to pretend that qualifications dont matter.

evilco I never said rights. I said opportunities. If you are born white you are typically going to a better school and can get into a better college. You also have a higher chance of finishing high school and you often have parents who know people who can help you get a job or further advance. It’s statistics.

@@shr9662 that's a result of culture. All they have to do is stop encouraging the gangbanger mentally. Save or invest money instead of wasting it of expensive pointless sneakers, and tell the kids to study instead of telling them they're about to be a rapper or sports star. They set themselves up for failure, and want to blame others.

Sometimes people on the right also try to shut down the people they don't agree with. Everybody needs to work on this skill of tolerance.

I like how South Park took on the paradox of tolerance by creating "The Death Camp Of Tolerance."
