- You may call this Kaijin Dogumaroguma or Dogmalogma or even Slimeasect if you watched the 9th episode of Saban's Masked Rider...or maybe you've just never heard of him (which is most likely). Believe it or not, this forgotten creature is as important as the most famous kaiju, Godzilla. Well, OK, maybe not AS important, but it actually really isn't that much of an exaggeration... and he's related to Godzilla in a very interesting way. Just watch the video and listen to the Toku Professor, and you'll understand what's so special about this monster from Episode 10 of Kamen Rider Black RX.

5:45 in, I'm calling it: Dogumaroguma is the very last kaiju produced during the Showa era.
*starts drumroll and presses play*

Technically, Dogumaroguma is one of two last Showa Kaijin.
The other Kaijin was Bende Harcos from Episode 13 of Cybercop, which aired on the same date as the Black RX episode.
So...if this blobby slime Kaijin is the last official Toku Monster in Showa era, I'm very interested for the who's the first official ones?
I believe Godzilla is the first kaiju (though maybe some would make the case for others) because his first movie appears to be considered the first kaiju movie.
@@thetokuprofessor But it's not even the first by Toho IIRC....
@@marhawkman303 I looked through a list of Toho's movies and didn't see any that appeared to include a kaiju prior to Godzilla. Maybe some people would say King Kong was the first...but he didn't originate in Japan, like Godzilla did, so I don't know if we can actually call him a kaiju.

So this is the last Showa kaiju or kaijin but I always thought dogumaroguma is both a Showa and a heisei kaiju
There was an episode of Masked Rider where Ferbus became Ferbus Maximus after turning giant sized. I might not be a fan of Kamen Rider, but i saw a clip of that online.

There were other Kaiju shows in the 60's - 70's, that can't b found anymore. Not a trace. Somewhere, there exists stacks of old monster magazines from the 1960's and early 1970's, owned by people who forgot they even own them.
In those magazines you would find reviews and articles of the shows and monsters I am talking about.
The internet houses vast amounts of information, but not all of it. Some VERY valuable, important, wonderful things can ONLY be found offline. With a lot of work.
But, it can be worth it.
If the Showa Era ended in 1989, why is Godzilla 1984 considered the start of that franchise's Heisei era?
I believe the main reason is because it shares continuity with films that were all released in the Heisei Era. The Millennium Series films are all Heisei films as well, but they are grouped into a separate category because they don't share a continuity with the "Heisei Series" films.

THAT’S why it’s called the Showa Era!?
All eras in Japan are named after the current empereror. Showa, Heisei, with the exception of Millennium, and Reiwa.
Dogumaroguma is Awesome
I gotta say it's a neat character design. Hmmm.. maybe if it was in a monster team? heheeh. he seems to not excel at combat, but if he had a partner who did?
This kaiju deserved to return
I like it whenever the Rider has a monster that's neither humanoid nor sized. I hope they bring him back. Also, I would not call the Goranger baddy's monsters/mutants but rather their brainwashed humans in weird outfits.
