- 'Bonny' by Prefab Sprout has been a band favorite for a long time. It's taken from their excellent album 'Steve McQueen' aka 'Two Wheels Good'. Those of you who saw us play around LM1 might have heard us covering it then. Recording it and re-imagining it from home brought back a lot of memories. If you were there, we hope this makes you remember those times we shared on tour together. LM

As someone who truly believes the original by Prefab Sprout is the greatest song ever penned I just love this, can't give it any highrer praise, it's just wonderful.

As a massive Prefab Sprout fan and this being one of my top ten songs ever, I have to say this is a beautiful cover by a good band with great musical influences looking at the material all around the room in the video. Fantastic and so moving.
This is an absolutely brilliant version of one of the greatest songs of the 80s that still stands the test of time.

The best cover of this i have heard of Bonnie. Cool band too. And what can one say about Prefab Sprout. An incredible thing of sonic beauty and poetic expression. A blossoming short creative period and then gone, but they left behind an array of absolutely endearing, enchanting, heartwarming, heartachingly tender songs, veiled in a guise of pop and rock and roll. Prefab Sprout's carved a place in my youth, and I am alway happy to go back there and wonder among their songs. Lovely to see covers like this.

I saw this brilliant band in a tiny venue in Newcastle, England around 1983/4 in front of a small crowd and have absolutely loved them ever since. Incredible cover of one of Paddy's best ever tunes. Thank you guys so much!!

I've loved Lo Moon since their first album released and I just found Prefab Sprout through Surf Curse... I audibly gasped when I saw Lo Moon covered Bonny. I love all bands mentioned and this is probably my favorite Prefab song.

I had the good fortune to see the band in concert twice before Covid hit, once in Orlando and the second time at a tiny club in D.C. During the D.C. show, I was astonished when they busted out this track. After the show, I told Matt that I think he and Paddy are kindred spirits. Lo Moon are fantastic musicians and personable as well. Can't wait to see them in concert again.
Where did you see them in DC before Covid? Did you see them recently at The Atlantis?
@@showvideo4167 It was the DC9 club on 3/25. I had to go back into my archives to find the venue and exact date. I got some fairly crappy video but good sound and very close to the band. I have not seen them recently on tour, as they haven't played FL for a while. I have a friend who lives in DC, so I flew up there and we went to the show together.
The best cover of a classic song i heard in my whole lifetime. I am addicted to it like I was to the original Prefab Sprout version. This one will also stand the test of time.

Very, very good and a decent tribute to Paddy’s great songwriting talent. More brightness than the darker version by the Editors, although ‘Bonny’ can have that too. Shows what a fantastic song it is.

The way Paddy knits together fragments of experience and consciousness from a failed relationship - 'tower of foil', 'before my eyes', 'no one planned it' - is transcendental.
There it is: lyrics that Dylan would struggle for, melody and harmony equal to MacCartney's best. No one can achieves this often - I'm thankful Paddy did it a few times. Even more than a few.
This cover, in some ways, with it's sparseness, captures the beauty and pain of the song perhaps even better than the original - although I struggle to say that! The vocal reverb, BTW, is perfect.
I've grown rather slowly into PS. I had to pass via no other than Steely Dan, to shed my bias against high fidelity. PMcA's intricate songwriting has always been somewhat obscured by the perfect production. Once I had found peace with what appeared to me as too slick at first, I found many more gems in their albums.
As my two year old likes to say “more! more! MORE!!!”. So good thanks for sharing.
