He tries to pass as a normal human being when he’s joking and chatting, but then he starts playing that mind-boggling Hendrix-y over the moon jamming shit and gives away the game,. The other Venusians are no doubt irked.
Tom I have become obsessed with this. Obsessed. The phrasing, the way it changes each time, the variety you get out of simple shapes. I'm having to radically rethink and change the way Ive programmed my brain and its great. My tiny hands arent built for thumbing bass notes and bending but its something new to practice. Many thanks.
Hey Tom! How about a “Hey Tom” t-shirt for us devotees? Love the show. So much more than inspirational guitar playing. Thanks for the unvarnished window into your world and musical mind. Truly Inspiring stuff!✌🏻
Started playing in your mom's bar as a 10 year old kid, les Paul at twelve that the family bought you, played the paint off of it. You are a rare bird Tommy, something special. Logging all that here for posterity is freaking great, and getting to sit and listen to you play as you create this thing is a real thrill. Thanks for the time you spend.
That sure was some awesome shit. What a badass way to grow up. I just hope I get to see Uncle Larry live one day. I know he’s a homebody as I am so if it’s Home Skoolin’ 4 Life I’ll still feel super privileged getting to watch and learn from the master everyday.
Hey Tom! I wanted to let you know that until recently I had not played the guitar for 27 years. Your Home Skoolin' show has taught me so much more about the guitar and music in general than I ever learned as a kid when I was playing. Simply a heartfelt thank you to you from Australia.
You're really inspiring me to be a better player and learn all I can and not just be content with my playing. Plus I want to say that I've been watching RUclips guitar videos for a few years now and I've noticed that the bigger a channel gets the more haters that channel gets, if that happens to you please don't let it bother you cause you're a huge inspiration to me!
Hey Tom , BV here, although the light is gone your playing alone is enough to brighten up quaranTIME, awesome fury thanks! the Haden sisters are friends will be stoked to hear this ! check out their album The Haden Triplets featuring Ry Cooder
Toms playing has a furious energy about it which is honestly the best. The thing that got me into guitar was that gut, yell it out loud power and energy. We need it! its pure, its human, its art and freedom.
Your 'Mad Man Moon' version with Sarah was so beautiful, and what a cool contrast to 'Strat Fury'...both delivered with great musicianship.Thank you, Tom, for the uplift and inspiration.
Tom I watch this jam of yours EVERY. DAY. Multiple times. It's been my number 1 source of inspiration and learning ever since you played it. I would kill for tabs to this. I'm never going to pick up all the nuances and voicings myself by ear.* Just saying because in today's episode (55) you were umming and ah-ing about the idea of getting some of your intros tabbed out. I know thousands like me would feel the same way. Something for you to consider champ. Thank you (*P.S. neither can my guitar teacher)
Sit down and break each part of, you can see what he’s doing, use your ear and go back over it, I’m going to be learning this one also, it’s easily the best thing I’ve ever heard
Hey Tom, do you remember that time when you had a gig either in the flats or maybe the west side of Cleveland and you took me? We showed up and it was, as you called it, a “pull it out of your ass gig” because none of the band members knew each other and you had fifteen minutes to make a set list and start playing? I can tell you that it was amazing watching you guys play so well together and I could see how everyone was looking towards you for guidance. You have had a huge influence on my life and my work ethic and I thank you.
Little Tommy Buk!! It seems like you know every freakin rock song from 1970 to present. B sides too. How is this possible? Truly blows my mind. Can you talk about how you managed this. And you dont know first three chords of every song like most of us. You nail the whole tune. Wow. I bet you you know every ZZ TOP song, at least up till the MTV period. UGH. The smear is My favorite lesson. Thanks from Boston.
Tom...Just FYI, Petra Haden is the daughter of Charlie Haden, one of the great bass players in jazz history. She has done many amazing a capella performances of Who tunes, and a great version of King Crimson's Red, which you should check out...she also records alot with Bill Frisell.
Hey Tom, Thanks for your candor regarding your career. This thing ebbs and flows usually. After breaking into freelance work in NYC at a very early age, doing Broadway pit work and session work around town, due to various reasons, my career fell off, came back in a different way, touring with Maynard Ferguson and Dr John and various Broadway tours, then morphed into recording sessions again and finally landing me working at a guitar store. And you're right. It's very different running into your old colleagues at the store as opposed to working with them in the studio. I'm glad you're busy again. You deserve it. I love your playing. You remind me of sitting in sessions or in a pit next to some of the greatest session guitar players of my era. Always a learning experience.
"the peoples key" I like that - never heard it - funny. Plenty in this one to deconstruct. each of these lessons is turning into at least a week of study and work Tom - and I thank you for it.
Man. We're on episode 93 right now and I keep coming back to this one. This has to be my favorite into out of all of them. Just absolutely monstrous playing.
Since I started watching you 3-4 weeks ago I was moved to get a floor tuner, am finally building “that” Pedalboard, reconnected my looper play every day, working on scales, trying to put together some melodic chord progressions. After I watch an irresistible force Force comes upon me that creates an unstoppable urge to play a guitar. And it gives me joy. Of course I’m awful but you’ve got a pushing-70 Boomer inspired to learn scales, again. Love the channel, don’t ever stop.
Tom - I especially liked those chords you showed the other day that contain both the 3rd and the 4th - Brilliant! My playing is really starting to wake up ! Can't thank you enough for the inspiration. Cheers from Western Canada, Jim
T.B. Love your long intro jams, just enjoy trying to play along an have some fun and learn . Helps me forget I can't just get together with the guys an jam out some warm up music for a few hours at the studio.
Hey Tom! It's PeTra Haden, and she covered the entire album with all vocals. It's amazing! Check out I Can See For Miles! (She also is Charlie Haden's daughter and signs with Bill Frisell a lot).
Amen on coming back to playing in the studio. The town needs you! I feel the same way about playing - much more appreciative now. Hey, I love Homeskoolin’! (I’m all caught up!). So inspirational but still low-key. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Alison
Hey Tom (standard Bukovac-fan greeting) I've been here in your class since day 1, pre Homeskoolin days, and I'm in for the duration. I sit at the back of the class looking in and if I had to hand my homework in I'd probably score an F, maybe an E, but I'm here, listening in, paying attention and learning. Loved the intro to today's show...Jimi was in the house. Stay safe, best wishes from Yorkshire, England.
Hey Tom , Greetings from Australia ! Thank you so much for doing these videos , its been a breath of fresh air to my playing/practice. I dig the humble straight shooter approach , Sarah has an amazing voice you're very lucky to have such a great voice on call for spontaneous musical exchanges. Looking forward to many more , Cheers Man. Craig Bowling
Hey Tom..thanks for all the awesome videos!. I have a '79 Les Paul Deluxe. Bought it brand new and a few years later put in all cream Dimarzio PAF's. Sounds sweet! BB King played a solid state Lab Series L 5 for years.
seemed like 80s-90s pedals weren't on my radar and i was envious of the rack stuff I couldn't afford. Then went nuts and bought a bunch of pedals in the 00s. Then scaled back again, and now my board is expanding again.
Tom! Session Man! I'd love to hear your thoughts on Robben Ford. I love his playing and I believe he has a lot of offer us. If you were to explain or teach one thing about Mr Ford, what would it be. Please never stop these I have learned more from you in the past few weeks than I have learned from the entire internet. I still chuck my guitar out the window when I watch one of your videos but I also immediately go get and try out what your're preaching. Much love!
Hey Tom, have you listened to Buck and Evans song “Going Home”? Parts of your jam and Going Home have similar hints. Is there a “standard” that birth some of the elements in your jam and Going Home. Love what your doing... keep it up. Cheers.
Just wanted to say thank you for theses vids Tom! They make me want to blow off even more shit I need to get done, to sit alone in my room, and get better at playing! And drink beer! Hell yeah! Thanks man! Keep it up!
Just thank you, Tom. There's so much magic here. One request: Can you scoot the camera back a few inches please? I'm missing that right hand action. It was always my favorite growing up...
I'd not noticed that it was off until I saw your comment. Mind you I never realised that it had been switched on until I heard Tom's mention of it in an earlier post. Too busy watching the fingers on the fretboard :)
Try as I may...I just can't wrap my head around how anyone dislikes these videos. Hands down the best guitar content on RUclips and that's saying something. Thanks Tom for the good stuff!
Been using the side pick since I read an article on Pat Matheny in the early 80’ who said he started doing it when he was really young cause the only picks he could find in Kansas at the time where Fender Mediums and he wanted/needed more meat on the bone. Rock on my friend... seriously “Shailing” Strat abuse! Thank you 🤘🏽🎸🤙🏽
Hey Tom, thanks for the inspiration. Just wanted you to know I bought a Stud Finder for my Jr., I’m looking forward to the improvements in intonation and tone...thanks again for doing what you do for us mere mortals 👍🏻
Beautiful tone and playing Tom!!
I wonder if Tom sits down and is just like hmmmm ...yep... I think I'll blow their minds today. Then clicks record.
🤣🤝👍
I think he does dooode! xD
Too much power for a single person!
He tries to pass as a normal human being when he’s joking and chatting, but then he starts playing that mind-boggling Hendrix-y over the moon jamming shit and gives away the game,. The other Venusians are no doubt irked.
2:15 yeah, like what the fuck.
Who in the heck dislikes a Tom Bukovac video? His playing is mesmerizing
Jealous and ungifting musical players 😉
Haters gonna hate, lovers gonna love
Some people just have no idea.
I was thinking the same thing, I don’t understand why people gotta be negative
They must have hit that button by accident.
This was the most epic intro jam ever!!!!
I´ve never heard anything as moving as first minute of this, so awesome!
Tom I have become obsessed with this. Obsessed. The phrasing, the way it changes each time, the variety you get out of simple shapes. Your “existential jam” made me consider my entire musical existence
I feel like I've watched this video maybe 20 times at this point? So epic!

That chord progression is just awesome. Was playing around with it last night for over an hour! Thanks for the inspiration.
Slow dancing in a burning room ain't got shit on that jam
Man I love how you shake things out and just start cookin'.Hot Stuff.
Hey Tom , BV here, although the light is gone your playing alone is enough to brighten up quaranTIME, awesome fury thanks! the Haden sisters are friends will be stoked to hear this ! check out their album The Haden Triplets featuring Ry Cooder
Hey Tom! Never miss an episode. Ya got style. Thanks for breaking the light.
Love, Kye
Toms playing has a furious energy about it which is honestly the best. The thing that got me into guitar was that gut, yell it out loud power and energy. We need it! its pure, its human, its art and freedom.

Your 'Mad Man Moon' version with Sarah was so beautiful, and what a cool contrast to 'Strat Fury'...both delivered with great musicianship.Thank you, Tom, for the uplift and inspiration.
the light is shining bright through your guitar..

Hey Tom, if Rolling Rock was a Strat tone, you just nailed it. Bad ass indeed. We will call this opus, Ode to the Missing Light.
Amazing !!!! Blown away .... speechless
I love how you improv before each video! I don’t think most channels I watch do that
Former Boy Wonder Becomes Middle-Aged Master. Thanks again for the inspiration!
Hey Tom, do you remember that time when you had a gig either in the flats or maybe the west side of Cleveland and you took me? B sides too. How is this possible?
Truly blows my mind. Can you talk about how you managed this.
And you dont know first three chords of every song like most of us.
You nail the whole tune. Wow.
I bet you you know every ZZ TOP song, at least up till the MTV period. UGH.
The smear is My favorite lesson.
Thanks from Boston.
There's an old saying about musicians with large repertoires..."Man, that cat knows every song ever recorded since recording began!"
That is so good Tom. Please keep going.
Nice work Tom! Enjoying the light you shine peaking through the clouds... Ha ..
Tom...Just FYI, Petra Haden is the daughter of Charlie Haden, one of the great bass players in jazz history. She has done many amazing a capella performances of Who tunes, and a great version of King Crimson's Red, which you should check out...she also records alot with Bill Frisell.
God, if I could make my Strats sound like that, I'd be more than happy making a career out of it was well. Happy Tuesday, Mr. Buk.
Its like catching up with an old friend everyday, thanks Buk
O.M.G. is that beautiful guitar! So much feeling and power mixed together.
Hey Tom, Thanks for your candor regarding your career. This thing ebbs and flows usually. Hellyeah that’s some real deal badass GIT-TAR playing rite there my dude! Beautiful 😎🎸🔥
That tone!!!! Holy shit that’s awesome.
I like the part when you went from those pinch harmonics back to the home base groove. Right up my alley.
Just found my favourite video from the whole of lockdown. This is beautiful. Well done to you both, vocals in the second half stole the show.
I made a surrogate guitar face when you hit that G7 Sharp 5 Flat 9. Thanks for the skoolin’ Tom!
Sheeesh Tom that tone is great. Your playing on this makes me see Hendrix.
"the peoples key" I like that - never heard it - funny. Plenty in this one to deconstruct. each of these lessons is turning into at least a week of study and work Tom - and I thank you for it.
Hi..little tommy...GREAT PLAYING...just great...Thanks...Dave
Man. We're on episode 93 right now and I keep coming back to this one. This has to be my favorite into out of all of them. Just absolutely monstrous playing.
Damn this is so much better than those million notes in a second shredders…you got flesh, blood and soul on your playing…Thank you 🙏🤜
Hey Tom! I adore all of your playing, but this is without question my favorite thing I’ve heard from you! GAH-LEE!!
Since I started watching you 3-4 weeks ago I was moved to get a floor tuner, am finally building “that” Pedalboard, reconnected my looper play every day, working on scales, trying to put together some melodic chord progressions. Nasty! So much gristle, thanks for all the content brother. You made me play so differently in the last 2 months thank you 🙏
CMON TOM, Good lord that intro is serious. That strat sound activates something in my animal brain at a core level and my stank face is now permanent.
Hey Tom (standard Bukovac-fan greeting) I've been here in your class since day 1, pre Homeskoolin days, and I'm in for the duration. Hey Tom..thanks for all the awesome videos!. I have a '79 Les Paul Deluxe. Bought it brand new and a few years later put in all cream Dimarzio PAF's. Sounds sweet! BB King played a solid state Lab Series L 5 for years.
Glad You mentioned one of the best guitar players in the world (in my opinion) Mr. Dann Huff. Keep up the great work Mr. Tom.
Big Fan from Portugal.
That opening jam was insane. Ten thumbs up!
seemed like 80s-90s pedals weren't on my radar and i was envious of the rack stuff I couldn't afford. Then went nuts and bought a bunch of pedals in the 00s. Then scaled back again, and now my board is expanding again.
I knew watching this during a workout was a bad idea, now all I want to do it go play guitar 🎸. TB the penultimate inspiration.
Existencial Jams are the best! Strat Fury keep it coming. Rock on!🤘🎸👍
You're just the right mixture of down-home, knows-his-shit guitar player for me. Love it. Keep them coming.
Yesss! Beautiful playing, beautiful TONE, inspirational stuff! Keep it up!
Tom! Session Man! I'd love to hear your thoughts on Robben Ford. I love his playing and I believe he has a lot of offer us. If you were to explain or teach one thing about Mr Ford, what would it be. Chris Buck has that feels that turns something really simple into amazing. Love his tone!
Just wanted to say thank you for theses vids Tom! They make me want to blow off even more shit I need to get done, to sit alone in my room, and get better at playing! And drink beer! Hell yeah! Thanks man! Keep it up!
Love this groove Mr. T
Just thank you, Tom. There's so much magic here. One request: Can you scoot the camera back a few inches please? I'm missing that right hand action. It was always my favorite growing up...
Me again, doing my homework, coming to you like I'm on a 4 month long satellite delay, commenting back through time. I rate the no light.
Man your just smoking it on the strat. Love the tone, some Texas backyard blues cooking up.😎🍺🍻👏🎸🎸🎸🎸 Improvise man.
I approve of the "no light"
Agreed.
I'd not noticed that it was off until I saw your comment. Mind you I never realised that it had been switched on until I heard Tom's mention of it in an earlier post. Too busy watching the fingers on the fretboard :)
@@ObjectiveDynamics Haha so true! Those fingers are mesmerizing...
Another great show on the can!!!!!!
What an absolute killer intro! Makes me want a strat
that intro really sounded like u needed to take out something, awesome as usual! thanks tom.
Try as I may...I just can't wrap my head around how anyone dislikes these videos. Hands down the best guitar content on RUclips and that's saying something. Thanks Tom for the good stuff!

Jesus Man, no words for this one🤟
Great as usual but definitely more fury than I expected.
Loving the Strat fury! Tom, are there any singers that have been an influence to your guitar playing! Best to you man!
His wife.
Bryant Walley you nailed it 🤣👍
Hey Tom. Great Grit!
Hey Tom, thanks for the inspiration. Just wanted you to know I bought a Stud Finder for my Jr., I’m looking forward to the improvements in intonation and tone...thanks again for doing what you do for us mere mortals 👍🏻
Thanks for the OCD fix. Great playing, but that mood starting at 2:36 is really something special.
