Lacan is dead and his ideals and want for power persist as Grahf, which inhabits bodies to persist through the years, currently inhabiting Khan Wong. Khan Wong however is spiritually very powerful and can sometimes break free from Grahf and manifest as Wiseman. This game is crazy
it rocked because Xenogears was like a playthru of a bible story (of their world), and it certainly was intriguing, i dont think square will ever be able to attain this level of excellence again, not since the people behind this game went their separate ways

There will never be a remake of Xenogears & if there is it'll be a miracle. Remember Xenogears was originally banned from the USA & we only got it years later. The game has ideas & concepts the West is still struggling with. I hope for a remake but the likelihood of it is quite low.

That'd be nice. Honestly,Xenoblade was good and all but it was just different. I'm sure everyone is waiting for that distilled perfect vision of what Xenogears was supposed to be. Xenosaga almost got it until Namco decided to be a dick too.
I'd be nice if Square Enix would contract out to Monolith Soft (since that's where most of the original team went) to do a remake of Xenogears, this time with a full budget.
Xenoblade, while not nearly as complex, was extremely well told. You can definitely tell they have improved in their storytelling methods over the years.
The suppose team for this task is Bart, Citan and Chu-Chu. Why? Because according to the Xenogears complete works. Siebzhen an Crescens also become an Omnigear. Base on logic. The only working gear (and Monster) at this timeline is only Brigandier and Heimdal. They have not been junction to an anima relic and Chu-Chu is not a gear.
Think this is victim to the time crunch. There's a chain of bosses with no grinding opportunities, and all are easy or are puzzle bosses that can be cheesed: - Deus (let it halve its own HP then burst down) - Alpha Weltall (supposed to lose) - Amphysvena (equip Frame HP, otherwise just wear him down with anything) - Opiomorph (stops doing damage as long as you stop attacking and she isn't critical, so you can charge and heal without limit) - Id (trivial) - True Weltall (trivial) The last two are basically token fights before the next grind opportunity, so they were probably nerfed to oblivion.
This was Square at its bests, though flawed by today's standards or perhaps due to translation error, the story is still captivating. When was the last time we played an RPG that is complex and engaging as this game?
I mean, the time crunch was absolutely _brutal_ to this game. It's definitely fine work, but the unrealized potential really leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
Little known fact about this battle is that you can change out the leading party member before hand. Even though it makes sense to have Citan leading the party, you can experience various unique dialogue from this entire segment from the more minor player characters like Maria, Emeralda and Chu-Chu. The second party member will also have a place in the conversation with Fei when he shows them the mother of humanity.
Man they really needed more music tracks for this game, they play the most roughly appropriate music they can but it's still jarring. Would love to see a remake some day!
One way to put it when comparing Xenogears and Final Fantasy VII which was Square's absolute prime the decline actually began at Final Fantasy VIII. To put it simply Final Fantasy VII is the better game and Xenogears is the better story.
They both paved the way for the future of the company imo like the original ff titles did I want this and vagrant story remade tbh hell even parasite eve
eh, to you, maybe. personally considering so much of FF7 is kinda disconnected and chance based (seriously, how much shit did they stumble into just because they were running from shinra? barrett's second story bits, bugenhagen, and they even had the 'red 13' excuse there, but no, the buggy breaks down first, we basically intend to go to junon, temple, home of ancients and getting giant materia, and then the very end of the game, that's about it for focused story, the rest is 'stumble into plot') as well as the gameplay (ff7's mechanics are fairly boring. i mean, materia combos are a cool idea, but pretty limited, and with materia, there's the same FF6 issue of 'everyone's basically the same character, outside of one ability' issue.) for me, xenogears is above both. hell, i actually got both at the same time, a friend lent them to me, told me to play each for like an hour, give him back which i liked least, ff7 was a dull start with you crossdressing about an hour in, xenogears, i stole a giant robot, blew up a town, turned forest cows into steaks, and was using karate on a god damn dinosaur. both on foot and in the mech.

The only thing that can do better is only a Xenogears remake with full budget and no cuts, with the same plot. Its not ids xenogear, theres only one xenogears, and thats welltalls true for when all feis personallities are one once more we could say that all forms of xenogears like weltall , ids weltall, weltall omni we could call it with system id, are false imperfected firms of zenogears all having some part represented by each persons and caracteristics and lacking everything else being weltall the weakest cuz hes striped of all memories, but xenogears the complete perfect form is of course the stronge
No it doesn't. You do realize that what is essentially fighting Id is non Anima Container gears, right? Id is capable of beating gears of that power without using his own. And then you have what is Id in Xenogears--a gear that even if you somehow say is 90% weaker than Fei's Xenogears, would still eclipse Id Weltall. Yeah, there's no way around making sense of this scene.
You know what bothers me to this day? That when this game came out in the States, it went completely went under the radar. A must buy for the RPG fan of heart or anyone looking for a game that is complex with it's characters, gripping with it's story, and challenging with it's gameplay (F.Y.I., this game WILL NOT hold your hand through both disks).
The religious story had them spooked limited press and copies it went so far under the radar I never saw a commercial for it I learned of it literally in the 2000’s

Technically, when he first makes contact with Zohar, as Id he's not complete yet, all his personalities are not merged as one. And I have a doubt - back 500 years ago, why did Miang let Lacan make contact with Zohar? She wanted to "reset" mankind once again? I thought they were already fit to be DEUS parts, without need of "reseting".
essentially with fei's mind fragmented, he's not a 'full' contact, yet. iirc, lacan DID become a full contact, but he wasn't driven insane by the process, he was wonky beforehand (and maybe wasn't able to become a truly full contact, otherwise, why waste 500 years worth of time to do stuff, instead he seems to need to rely on fei's helo) and afaik, miang let lacan make contact because the turmoil of the land wasn't good for getting those bodies ready or anything, the world just needed more time. it's not like it was a full reset or anything, just wasn't gonna happen during that war torn era, therefore ending the shit was best. also, might've been more as a thank you for letting miang out of prison, where she might've been trapped for a long time, given their longevity tech.
My understanding was that Lacan did in fact start a war after becoming the contact and exterminated a huge portion of humanity, which is why the surface is technologically backward at the start of the game.
It a spiritual successor to those but in name only. The only similer thing xenoblade has to xenosaga and xenogear is the expy of characters from those games, go to the tv troopes and you see what I mean.
Sigh,. games these days don't have that same sense of excitement. I don't get the chills like I did with this game, Suikoden 1 and 2, and other older titles. I also don't really appreciate the agendas they sneak into what they call 'modern' games - maybe because they show it too obviously.

eh, omnigears can withstand lot of punishment, plus he's not fully 'awakened' yet either, so xenogears IS stronger than Id mode, even this version.

A story in five events over 10,000+ years sounds fairly complex to me

Great story... Anime Cut Scenes... Awesome Gameplay... Plot twists that blew your mind away... What more could one ask in a game?
