It ends on Chi Bi.... Got a mixed feeling on that. I going to give them the benefit of the doubt cuz it's a spin-off title and possible denser storytelling. The timeline might be shorter because Chi Bi is, I think, around half of the three kingdom stories but if we can get deeper storytelling then I don't mind. One example is how the Yellow Turban Rebellion started. Usually, this is just one battle then straight into The Battle of Hu Lao Gate. Still, longer story doesn't always means for the better. At the very least, the combat seems promising.
Postergirl Shangxiang being pushed there as the only female representative regardless of the timeline after they said they aim for "realism" 💀. They had to make Sun Jian older than he ever was while everyone else are literally on the early 20s to late 30s in the same period for that.
Edit character style perspective as we go through the 3 kingdoms period and maybe... up to the fall of each kingdom and the establishment of Jin... this is pretty familiar... like back in DW4, 5:XL, and some extent the Empires. Those have mode where you can make an OC and play as them, go through the 3 kingdom factions of your choice... so yeah, this has been in the series and it's not new or at least... not being put into the center stage. But who knows if this would go all the way... says it's only goes up to the battle of Chi Bi
it's the first phase of the new kingdom, i believe it'll be good and then the sequel will be up to yi ling/ wuzhang plains, that's just assuring that there'll be more to dynasty warriors
make sense though since they're going to completely flesh out the story from before the Yellow Turban up until that point, and then make the other half of the story in a new game and hopefully they can finally reach the ending of Wu and the complete unification of China instead of the usual Jin conquering Shu ending. Still, a game with all of the stories in one go would've been nicer though 😔

they will clearly have more battles in between if Chi Bi is the final fight homie.... plus, the game is called Origins so..... makes sense to have it end early
while that is true and I agree we can still use the companions (the unique characters) for a short while during battle my issue is how few they are (only 3 from each of the 3 forces) and my biggest issue is the game feels too short (only up to Chi bi battle)
I thought it was meant to be a customizable protagoinst like in Empires or like in Xtreme legends back in the day, but if it's not I see no point on it.
Granted ive never played dynasty warriors 2 but what do you mean. Its literally an army vs army plus the 1 vs 1000. Id say its more army vs army than any of thr other entries since we need to actually strategize more then before and cant just ride our horse across the battlefield like we did in later entries

This is the time for some important characters from the early era of the Three Kingdoms to show up, like Gongsun Zan, Wen Chou, Yan Liang, Li Jue, Guo Si, Liao Hua, Ma Teng, Han Sui, and the most missing part of Lu Bu's army: Gao Shun and Zang Ba

Sw5 cuts down the story halfway just until Honnoji. Why am i not surprised they did the same with DW, yea i'll skip this one especially with the forced protagonist and all, if you could've customize the Player like in Nioh 2 i would've buy the game

I really don't like that we're forced to use the protagonist, really bizarre move by Koei. Other than that the game looks great

I prefer Dynasty Warriors 2 over this. In that Its Literally Army vs Army in a Clash across a Large Battlefield not 1 vs 1000.
