      +Derek Cox Call me a fanboy, but I love every single album they have released. I admit The days of grace and Unia took a while to grow on me, but now I liked them a lot. Stones grow her name, was amazing from the start for me; same with Pariah's Child. I just love this band

      Lo que los hace sonar diferente es el uso de guitarra de 7 cuerdas, eso hace que el tono sea más grave.

    This song is a masterpiece. It needs some repeats for it's magic to get inside you and the lyrics are pure philosophy, the message is really strong. I saw Sonata live like 10 times the last 2-3 years and I am so happy to see them rise again so glorious after an average period, cannot wait for the full album. The 10% of the people that disliked, I think that they just don't get it. Thanks Toni for reminding me once more why I love so much this kind of music!

      @@LongForgottenOne is about the colapse of humanity because of it's own avarice and negligence,
      it doesn't matters how much technologies we develop , we are already reaching the crest of our time,
      And after our fall, other species will rise behind us,
      I suggest you to read about the OLDUVAI theory...
      because it speaks about that if we , as humanity don't do anything to save our world and society, in 2030 we will reach the crest of out time, then we will fall,
      It's scary to think that this is getting more plausible every year that passes, now with the rise of a chaotic AI without regulations, and being inable to regulate properly...

    Tony Kakko is a marvel: The the "glacier" in the champagne glass is the world's glacier in the North and South Pole, note it: the first time he mentions it, he says "When the glacier of our broken dreams melts in you champagne glass" and the last time he says it "And the glacier of our HUMAN dream, GONE with the champagne glass... in the sea"

    • @joedimaggio7728
      @joedimaggio7728 8 лет назад +5

      it's to artsy for some people's tastes I guess. I thought this was an amazing message as well but some people don't like to look into music. to much they just want their fast paced guitars and solos. instead of paying respect to the artists for there music as it is.

    • @ImCalebRosengard
      @ImCalebRosengard 8 лет назад +3

      That is just plainly sad... and just serves to show how plain some of the listeners are nowadays, since I began listening to Sonata 10 years ago, the lyricism that Kakko employs has been a pivot reason for me to appreciate it... and now that he's employing his talent to send actual great messages... gosh, I'm speechless.

      I guess people just don't understand Sonata. They just want extremely fast guitar solos and brainless lyrics. Tony Kakko has a wonderful artistic mind and soul and so much hate against such well created songs is basically ignorance. People hate this music as they are too blind to see how powerful this song is. Shame on them. I am in love with this song.

      WHG is one of my favorite Sonata albuns and I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Ecliptica, being the first and everything. But I actually love their music because it has all those nuances. They had the power metal fase, and then the proggy fase and now it is a combination of all that. I hope they can keep on experimenting and creating stuff and managing to still sound powerful and energetic. I think the new album sounds promising, do you?

      that's what you've gotta do. it takes a little while to digest. I think most of what people don't like about it is that it's hard to decipher its structure, so thye can't make sense of it. I took the time to type it all out, listen to the music behind the lyrics, and organize out the verses, chorus, and bridge sections. It's a meaty song.

      I listen to it fairly often, and not every song had the same pace as The Cage. And so far they've released this one single, so...

    • @aka_Ingmar
      @aka_Ingmar 8 лет назад

      Blisterdude123 im not making assumptions about the album, I love this band to no end and I am super hyped for white pearl 2, I am just commenting on your comment. I am not saying that every song has the same pace as the cage, but the three i just listed off plus others on that album are very up tempo

    • @Blisterdude123
      @Blisterdude123 8 лет назад

      Maybe they had more faster songs than they do now, but Pariah's Child had a fair few speedy ones. And as for WG, The Misery and Draw Me were definitely not up tempo at all.
      So, y'know, I expect this album to be like every other Sonata album they've ever made.

    After Pariah's Child started to set them in a direction I really liked, I decided to use their next album as a sort of test to figure out if I want to continue supporting their new releases. I dont mind using the occasional intro/outro silliness, Sonata Arctica is a fun band, but I still crave the heavier sound they had. This is a song where he should sound angry, but he sounds a bit relaxed almost. Instrumentals are right back where they should be though, so I see promise.If this song is the relative worst of the album, I'll definitely get right back on board with their tours and releases. But if this is the best they can do, I'll probably move on. Crossing my fingers tight.

      @zerotheking1993 8 лет назад +2

      Dunno, I truly liked it what he did until now, there are some fine riffs in Pariah (as in the verse of Cloud Factory), in Stones (Losing My Insanity is the first ass kicker that comes to my mind), and The Days Of Grays was all over the place with guitar riffs and solos. Plus, he has a peculiar style, very far from Jani's one, but still he has one. So I wouldn't demonize him this much. Obviously, it's a matter of taste and opinions :)

    I´ve been a long time fan from Sonata, and its been my favourite band since i was a teenager. I´ve heard plenty bad things about the past two albuns, which i understand where all those criticism were coming from, but even agreeing with many of the complaints, i understood the new path the band wanted to take and still found ways to appreciate and keep my passion for the band alive.
    Listening to this song, i can clearly notice Sonata's essence instrument wise. But what is going on with Tony's vocals?
    Im basicly under the impression hes reading words, instead of singing his soul out. Theres barely any Rhymes, and i can hardly feel any feeling on his voice.
    I can feel the atmosphere from the instruments tho.
    The song is about human accomplishments and greed, how it could be a good thing, but its destroying our planet. Why dont i feel anger on his voice? Happiness when hes talking about the good things we have achieved? Anger when he talks about how we are wasting it all?
    Overall the song is average. If the vocals followed the atmosphere of the instruments this song would be BEAST.
    Expecting this song to be one of the last songs of the Album where the band just want you to slow down after all the feelings you went through listening to the entire album.

      Agreed. The instrumentals are back, which is wonderful.
      But Tony... it feels like this may be "technically" very good - complex rhyming and wordplay... but it makes for a jarring experience, imho.
      Is that what you mean?
      It feels like, because it's so jarring, it also prevents him really taxing his voice. Which is why it feels a bit like it may be technically good... it may be that this is difficult to sing, and can be appreciated on that level (I don't know, not a singer), but it feels like it's missing that old Sonata magic.

    I don't understand why people are mocking it. Makes literally no sense, this is definitely an upgrade from Pariah's Child even though even that wasn't a bad album. This song has the elements and the feel of the old songs and really has the potential of being the next big album.
    Sure the drums sound is still crap but I just can't lie to myself and say this song is bad.

      Emiliano B An opinion Sonata fans don't like: Elias is better live than Jani. He just hasn't been a part of Sonata during the "golden era". He is a phenomenal guitarist and really doesn't get enough credit. Jani is not something that will change the band. Besides, the band itself doesn't really need to change. Every band has lower points. To me the highest point was The Days of Grays and the lowest point has been Stones Grow Her Name.

      I can understand his concern about messing up the live versions of these songs, but I think he's looking at it the wrong way. The live version doesn't have to be the same as the studio version. In fact, it's part of what makes going to a live concert such a great experience, as you get to hear them raw and unfiltered; a different sound than what the album contains.

There are many many things influencing the sound, and I knew Pasi already put his hands on the mixing at the studio before. So maybe this is the best he can get, all considerated - now it's the "all" that must be changed.

      It's actually pretty clearly following the trail of the last two albums. Not to mention the lyrical parallels to the last works. If you mean instrumental signatures, there are plenty. For example the very harmonic lead melody on the keyboard (with harmonics, that were involved in the like the last 6 albums) or the staccato, almost drum-ish sound of the guitar during the verses (and a bit weaker later in the chorus) with clean and long stretched melodies on the keyboard alongside it. So yeah, it truly involves a lot of sonata-typical signatures, but they push their boundaries ever further with each album, which to me as a prog-fan is amazing, but I'd totally understand if you were hoping for just some straight-to-the-face power metal and are disappointed now.
