- Hello and Welcome to Another Budget Builds Episode where today we're going to be building "The Cube"...Which was more of a personal project that ended up becoming something a bit larger for the sake of featuring on the channel... It is a blindsight harder than id like to actually get ahold of the parts I wanted, eitherway I managed to snag (With the idea being that you can either focus this down a server route with HDD and RAID or gaming with the GTX Route):
Yes this is a reupload as I wasnt happy with the original release, and have since fixed a few issues

I see what you did there.

The channel theme is about budget builds but now the graphic cards price are going crazy on the market, hope he will comeback as soon as the graphic cards price cool down
PHEEEW! THAT ♥ means he/she/it* is still around...was getting a bit worried!
*just to be none offending.
He could also do more videos on cheap phones. The five that he has already done (LG Optimus L3, Samsung Galaxy Ace, Samsung Galaxy Mini 2, Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S2) have been really good and successful (although they're starting to feel dated now) and it would be great to see more phones of those sort of prices from a 2021 (or 2022) standpoint.
@@dallesamllhals9161 its obviously a he.
@Führer des Benutzers And/or maybe I/It do not care?!?

Please come back. I miss you so much.
He came back.
Not sure it's a "good" thing that we are all having to be a bit more creative given the parts shortage/inflated prices but maybe this all means that we can make the tech we have go further for longer, and keep it out of landfill. Great video and love the choice of case!
My first DIY PC lasted me 9 years and I managed to sell virtually all of its parts off second hand.
Unless you're playing the latest graphics intensive games a PC can last you a surprisingly long time.
With the current prices you really have to think outside the box
...
I don't think people are scalping DDR3 ram....A 16 GB kit was getting harder to find before Covid...Its just demand is so high that people are buying up old systems and all the 16gb (2 x 8gb) kits they can get their hands on.
That kitten was probably the best part of this video (and probably that nirvana disc)
Th cat following the mouse 😂
finally, a cube case that can disguise itself as a microwave
Have you seen the sugo 13? It's a cute microwave that had a mid life crisis.

I always love pieces like this. Making due with what's available and building something thats actually pretty great for its task
Looking forward to the day Budget Builds posts again. Always got me interested in doing a project. I am sure the resurgence will occur with a drop in gpu prices!
Let me finish watching it before deleting this one ;-) Love the content!
Yeaaah there the video is, it got private now its back!!
why?
@@StoneyScientist No idea
@@StoneyScientist Probably video processing.
Love the retro hi-fi in the background.
Very nice.
I recommend using a lighter version of Windows Server without the Explorer, called "Server Core" for this purpose. It will save RAM and CPU usage.
For administration of either Server Core or Desktop Experience installations just use "Windows admin center", which is the Windows equivalent of "cockpit" in Linux.
A look a new video by Budget Builds Official. A totally, brand new, amazing video about a media unit and nothing else. 😂
Seriously, still enjoyed this. It probably could be uploaded 10 more times and I'd still watch. Keep being awesome and thanks for all the videos.
Can’t believe the coincidence on this video, just this week completed the same build but with a twist, managed to do the bios upgrade with a programmer and salvaged bios chips - not a smug move honest! Now have a i5-3570k on same board.
Please come back, we desire your good videos.
Yes please
Any more new videos??
Ouch, it's only a 2c/4t CPU :/
Thumbs up for the cat :3
Never underestimate those i3s! They are perfect for budget competitive games, pubg lite, lol, cs go, valorant, etc! And for extremely cheap prices
@@calvitocalvon1711 well, I have a Haswell 2c/4t i5 on my laptop and it simply feels slow when I'm used to faster hardware.
@@RuruFIN laptop processors are slow as hell because they generate heat, pc i3s are cool because most competitive games run on 2 cores only
@@calvitocalvon1711 Though it doesn't throttle, it just feels sluggish after using a fast machine for years.
Might I recommend (for the future) a xeon/opteron build (late 00s-early 10s) + ECC DDR3? As of August 2021, those are stunningly cheap
man whered he go :(
does anyone know what happened to him ?
I also got a P8H61I RM/SI board for a cheap HTPC build. Can confirm the BIOS chip is removable and you can use a CH341A USB programmer to manually flash the latest ASUS BIOS over the RM branded version. Works just fine, you just need to use a tool like uefiextract to get the raw UEFI image from the ASUS BIOS file.
When is your next vid 🙁
So I saw the video before and it went private and now am watching the vid again 😃😃
I wouldn't mind seeing more videos like this.... It isn't your standard fare, but I liked it!! Then again your channel isn't my standard fare for technology either, but I like it!!
Awesome video bud, always love your channel.
Gotta love that Be Here Now album cameo!
Oh yeah Be here now cassette I remember buying it as a youngster from my local Safeway 👍
is this the third re-upload!?
Perhaps
@@BudgetBuildsOfficial ahh, there it is.
what the hell for?
Multiple video issues, the cube is cursed 😔
Gotta love those classic Haynes Shop Manuals. I have one for the American version of the Jetta and Golf/ Rabbit.
I love this sort of video, I am dealing with 1155 myself right now.
Come on man. Please upload a video
"So what case do you want?"
"Microwave"
"Wa-"
I'm really glad i found this channel
Hey man, you ok? Been silent for a while..
In today's episode, I spotted a weird flex.
Hayes Volvo manuals.
Niiiiiiice.
It looks like it would cook up a mean hot-pocket.
Hey man, is everything all right?
In the U.S. , instead of buying a 960, you should bid for an RX 560/70 or GTX 1060. Bidding is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper, and I'm seeing listings for 1060s for a little under $130 that end soon
Yay new video from my favourite youtuber :D
what that linux quote say at 15:49
love your channel! subbed! :D
What a cute little kitty!
I have that same 850 manual!! Also HELL YEAH 440s are so underrated.
I'm glad I kept my gtx 950. Did not see the market getting this bad. I looked on offerup and even saw a 1050 or 1060 3gig version for 300 to 400 dollars.
9:15 Managed to get a RTX 3070 just as the GPU scalping was beginning, for £630. Now they're going for a grand on Ebay. Held my old 1060 for a couple of months before I sold it - went for £280, more than what I paid for it new in 2016. Situation is messed up right now, heh.
Not for everything. I picked up a used 980 hydrocopper(EVGA custom loop waterblocked 980) for 110 USD(about £80). Put in about 300 dollars worth of spare watercooling equipment, which explains why the 980 waterblocked(Ti is about 1.5-2x the price) is still pretty much the same as before the scalpocalypse.
Nice job.
THIS case is cool: uk-02w-op from Chieftec: small but full atx, 2 chambers, inverted board layout. Love it ;)
Why the re-upload?
ayyy volvo and old golf gti manuals, mans got good taste
I was having a weird sense of deja vu until I noticed that it was a reupload
Really missing the uploads your channel and random gaming HD inspired me to make videos
my secondary pc is also a 1155 mobo with a I73770 and a gtx 980 paired with 16gb of ddr3 1600mhz ram. for 1080p it's great, even cyberpunk will run at 60 fps with low details
God. I miss this channel :(
No wonder I stopped getting recommend videos. Please come back 🙁
Upvote for cat and the Volvo manuals.
This video is a really good object lesson for what can be achieved with older 'obsolete' hardware. Matching the task to the hardware is the key. Your server is over kill compared to mine but I don't need a high speed file server as I only back up over night once a month and the relatively low power draw of the down clocked CPU and moderate spin down times of the drives result is a 45W draw which costs a few pennies a day. FWIW the POH of one drive is currently over 72,000. I am unconcerned as the data is quite redundant, even if not RAID.YMMV.
nice gamecube you got there
I like ur content dude!
Looking forward for more budget build videos. Perhaps some tips on windows 10 optimization.
That cat is so bloody cute :3
love this
Crappy times but nice video, i liked the kitty scenes too! I still rock 1155 socket with i7-3770 and a GTX780
Love ur channel and this is awesome but can I just say I'm v jealous of your hifi setup!
I have this case i love it, i hated to build in it though, my poor hands got cramped
Does it make a microwave noise at startup
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
The node 304 is pretty huge, it can accomodate 6 HDs, full size GPU and a huge cooler like the Noctua NH-D9L
Have u done a video editing budget pc 2021?
u are so underrated
Love your content
Volvo 850 owner here, I approve this video
Definitely need more low price server videos
That thing looks like a microwave
I have avery similar setup for my cheap 24TB nas with the node 304 case and that same ASUS RM Bios motherboard, I did face the exact same issue as I was trying to install a Xeon which was supported by the original firmware but not by the RM version I was using, however I found on eBay that people will sell replacement socket ICs that contain the bios, so I bought one of those that I asked the seller to flash with the original Asus firmware and then swapped it and it worked to my suprise. It was very easy to swap since it is socketed and I was surprised that at the time nobody online appeared to figure this issue out. It did cost me £9 for the new IC, flashing + delivery but I already had the motherboard and cpu at this point so it was worth the risk. If you are experienced with IC flashing and have a flasher I believe you could flash it yourself manually with the Asus Rom over the original RM Rom. I also had a similar looking Chinese sata card which kept causing issues and ZFS errors, (I think there was an issue with the controller and using 5 drives at high bandwidth) but I replaced it with an eBay IBM LSI M1015 that I flashed the IT mode firmware onto and since then there have been no issues whatsoever, highly recommend this for a Sata card solution.
the king is back
I love your videos. ^^
Didn't you upload this a while ago? Keep deja vu'ing throughout the video. Good vid btw
yes,i felt like i've watched this and realised it's a reupload
Volvo spotted where, when, and very cool
I'm 3 minutes 28 seconds in and just realized this is a reupload lol
Yea, had a weird case of dejà vu watchin the start of the video too!
Nice this video
we have that case at our school
7:05 that crooked screw though ... ;)
I mean, the load times in civ 6 are quite long. Except for the little cpu situation, thats a pretty cool build.
2:56 i thought it was a microwave for a second
Did the same thing with a 1650 super and a 4570 on a jonsbo c2 case last year for the same price.
Retrofitted 2 3.5 and 2 2.5 hard disks on it lmao.
It looks like my microwave, only it probably heats up faster.
@15:11 Anyone knows what the wallpaper says?
We miss you man 😭
Mmhm
What about a UDOO RYZEN V1000 MAKER BOARD SBC computer would be possible to mount it on the back of the Monitor with the right case.
ARRRRRR !!! It's on the floor. Curls up in a ball and twitches with OCD.
I used to have a dual socket LGA 1366 with Xeon 5677 in each socket and I decided that's way more power than I'll ever need for any of my server applications now, so I repurpose my old htpc which had a i5 2400 in it, and it does everything I need to do just as good as the big system did, while sipping power in comparison. The electric bill certainly appreciates 40 watts compared to a constant 210 watts. And I can still play my personal Minecraft server on it just fine while simultaneously streaming a Plex video.
*Golf MK II and Jetta Service book!
I have the same concept but as a tower with A8 7650K and works great
when you took out the case I thought it was a microwave lol
the case is like a Shuttle on steroids - but saying that, would an H61 shuttle not have sufficed? Would have had the 3rd gen compatibility but perhaps a lack of storage space..
Nice
What shaders do you use in Minecraft and what temperatures was on the gpu and cpu
Freaky, I'm literally building a computer similar to this but on a 3D printer case. Cool that this got recommended to me. If your curious;
I7 3700
16gb ram
Gtx 970
Mucai h61 mobo
Apevia 500w itx psu
SL 3d printed case on youtube I think it's called.
Gonna be a pc for the living room, especially with fsr and lossless frame gen with controller. Now, you can actually build a budget itx system!!
Now i wanna try fix a faulty Z77 board i have or hope to get 16gb(2x8GB) of ddr3 since i also have asus h61m-le buut 2 ram slots really limit your choices...
could you do a video on the cheapest way to upgrade a laptop? ie best uk budget options for hdd to ssd ram etc... i keep seeing ssds going for dirt cheap and some not but they are all flooded with fake reviews or aren't any faster.
