    Kathy is a treasure on the earth and should be protected at all costs. She has such an incredibly intelligent and insightful approach to her commentary. No one does it better than her, and I'm so glad she's still continuing to find spaces to use her voice. Bridget is great, too. Excellent episode, ladies!

    Thanks for giving Kathy a platform to be herself and just talk in all her gymnerd glory!💖 We appreciate you Bridget.🤗💞 I've wanted to go to an Olympics to watch gymnastics ever since I was 3 1/2. I am so excited to go to Trials!🎉🤸🏼‍♀️ I'm going to be the crazy gymnerd losing their voice at all sessions cheering all the gymnasts on as if I know them personally! 🤣 So they'll hopefully feel the love Kathy. 😊
    I'll be the one getting there 2-4 hours early to get in first.😂🤣 So if anyone else is going, feel free to sit outside the doors with me in excitement and we can all gymnerd out together. Lol 😁

    I totally understand what you’re saying Kathy. In my day we did so much training on ballet & never had an ankle injury. Major foot injury stopped my career but this was on the bars doing giants and catching my foot on the lower bar & then having a trampoline dropped on my foot. I can honestly say that there weren’t many ankle injuries like there are today which really comes back to the ballet training that increases your ankle strength. I guess different times. 💕💕💕

    Who wouldn't want to see Leanne succeed? Haven't you been watching? The judges don't. I wish you guys would discuss the unfair judging. Leanne has been lowballed all season. Even when she hits she gets lower scores. There is so obvious bias going on and no one will acknowledge it.

    I'm a gymnast of the 70s and 80s, and I trained the way you did, Kathy. I was so conditioned for form that my brother says I used to sit in a chair, any chair, and my toes would be pointed....even in sneakers. LOL. It's true! I coached it as well. :) So fun to hear you talk about what I also experienced.

    the dance training went away when springs in the floor and vaulting boards and padded beams became the norm .tumbling on a wrestling mat or wood balance beam could be detrimental to your ankles if you didn't have strong feet, ankles,knees and thighs. I think the springs,matting surface changes(ethafoam) made athletes and coaches feel more invincible. Overuse injuries were delayed, but without the dance training ,rehab for the overuse injury didn't solve the lack of leg strength.

    I agree with you, Kathy. I think the spring floor inhibits development of strength in the feet, etc. Add to that the lack of dance training (that went out the window with artistry/compulsories). I was a gymnast in the early 80s when spring floors were barely a thing. I was also a ballet dancer. The spring floor makes the dancing look bouncy and out of control. It's ugly.
    Bridget, listen to Kathy. She knows what she is talking about!
    Also, I wish Kathy was an NBC commentator for gymnastics. She is soooo good. Samantha is way too chatty and it's distracting.

      I'm a former dancer (nothing amazing, just grew up in the studio and even continued some classes as an adult). I just started gymnastics and dance helps but turning on floor and beam is so different. I would be interested to learn thoughts from those who did both at the same time. Part of it of course is turning in a different direction than I usually did in dance, but also the floor surface being so different. Also with leaps and jumps I haven't learned to use any rebound.

      @@darklight1030I've been hesitant to make any definite comments about the Olympic team because of what happened in Tokyo. I'm kind of frustrated that people are jumping to I'm kind of frustrated that people are making automatic assumptions about anything after what happened there. It's not that I don't trust athletes to do what they normally would do but I think we should have learned that putting undue pressure is not wise. Of course I think the athletes and coaches have learned from that and are approaching things differently

    I couldn't agree more about good form early on. I see gymnasts performing at the highest level with hideous feet or hunched shoulders and it really kills it. Why didn't their coaches get them pointing those toes and lifting their chests the minute they began their gymnastics lessons?

    • @SabrinaVoineaSStolenMedal

    • @Zuranthium
      @Zuranthium 2 месяца назад +2

      @@cocoroni1031 Even if she could be called consistent, she did NOT "show it at Worlds". Considering she's continued to have problems this season, it's not objective to look at her some kind of super reliable gymnast right now. I already think it was a mistake to take her to Worlds last year, since she had no top 3 event, and now she's even more behind the field.
