    I'm going to be doing this soon. I coated the water resistant drywall with Redguard. Double protection. Don't skimp on the trim. Use it otherwise you're defeating the purpose of this amazing product. Do it right the first time.

      Thanks for watching! I think for showers or wet areas you are supposed to use the dumawall trim pieces because of the waterproofing but for dry areas aluminum would work. Heres a link to the dumawall trim kit.

      @BryanBuilt  3 года назад +2

      Great question! I personally didnt do any school I just started working for someone as a helper and thats how I learned alot of different things. Thats always a great option, finding a Good contractor or installer and working as a helper and learning from the bottom up. Another great option is finding a local trade school and taking clases there for whatever trade you are interested in learning . Also if you do plan on maybe running a business one day I would learn the business side of things maybe take business classes, accounting and project management. When we started our business I didnt know any of the business end and had to learn through alot of mistakes and learn as We were building the business. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    Do you recommend buying DumaWall straight from DunaWall or from Lowes or Home Depot? Is the full kit necessary?
    Also, I was considering using DumaWall but how well do you think this product will work if I wanted to build a niche in it... not sure it would work with the having the interlinked pieces... thoughts? Tks

      We purchased directly through lowes I know they do sell on amazon as well but from what Ive seen its more expensive. at at least here in OK. Im not sure about the niche I havent seen any with a niche and i dont think they make outside corner trim pieces . I would maybe reach out to dumawall directly.

    Can you install this over plaster walls?

    • @BryanBuilt
      @BryanBuilt  3 года назад

      Hi rachel! I dont see anything about plaster on the instruction pdf . Is this around a shower or just a regular wall ? here is what i found on the dumawall website.
      “Appropriate substrates in a dry environment would include framed walls with existing tile, drywall, cement board, OSB, or plywood®. DumaWall panels must be attached to structures that comply with your local building codes and have incorporated appropriate moisture abatement measures.
      FOR SHOWER, TUB OR DIRECT WATER ENVIRONMENTS. Although DumaWall tiles are 100% waterproof when used with DAP Kwik Seal Ultra in the seams, we recommend you follow your local building codes for wet environments like shower and tub enclosures. We recommend a 100% waterproof substrate that will prevent water from getting behind potentially unsealed areas that would cause mold or other damage.
      Acceptable waterproof substrates are:
      Existing ceramic tile walls. No additional preparation required.
      Installation over waterproof substrates, such as Cement Board®, Schluter Kerdi Board®, GP Densheild®, Johns Manville GoBoard®, Hardiebacker®, Fiberock® and equivalent products. “

      @@BryanBuilt It is a plaster shower wall. Currently it just has a plastic surround on it but we are hoping to replace the surround with dumawall. I could not find anything about plaster on their website.

    • @BryanBuilt
      @BryanBuilt  3 года назад

      @@rachelwoiteshek6861 i would maybe call them and see what the manufacturer recommendation is . But i think best practice would be to remove the plaster and plastic surround . Install cement board and apply it over that.

      @@BryanBuilt Thank you so much for your fast reply. After mounting the cement board do I still have to use the fabric tape, mortar to fill in the gaps in the cement board, and them the liquid water proofing membrane prior to installing dumawall?

    • @BryanBuilt
      @BryanBuilt  3 года назад +1

      @@joesetterbo4459 I would definitely seal the gaps in the cement board. The liquid waterproof membrane is not required according to dumawall as long as all the edges of the tiles are sealed using the kwik seal, but it wouldn't hurt to add the liquid membrane in my opinion.
