I Bought the CHEAPEST ND Miata In The Country - How BAD Is It?

- I bought the CHEAPEST ND Mazda MX5 Miata available in the United States. This new to me, 2017 Mazda MX5 Miata Sport is a base model car, that has quite the history. It's been crashed and hailed on, meaning it was issued a salvage title that was rebuilt prior to my purchase. This car came with some excellent, enthusiast modifications, including Falken 615K+ tires, Advanti S1 Storm wheels, and a StopTech floating rotor big brake kit. This car runs and drives awesome, with only 56,000 miles. I am SUPER happy to add this ND to my collection of cars, and have been absolutely LOVING driving it around, and look forward to diving deeper into this car.

The hail damage makes it more aerodynamic, like a golf ball
Exactly! Now it'll have great flight characteristics
🤣
Not worth your time fixing those dings on the hood. That will take you forever. Just swap the hood, fenders, and trunk with a junkyard find.
That's certainly what I'd prefer to do with the hood and trunk lid if I can find them, but there aren't too many in junk yards just yet. I'll have my eyes open! The fenders I'm going to try to repair though since there aren't a ton of dings compared to the hood / trunk
@@CashedOutCars look on redline auto parts i couldve swore i saw a black trunk on there
Bought mine January 2023 in FL, 199800 miles, 1owner clean title for 8k, now over 200k miles, replaced all the suspension bushings put diff bushings insert, some other mods, took it to the track, mountains no major issues at all, not even burning oil, trans did had a rebuild before I bought it, over all pretty happy with it
Super sick find, can’t wait to see where you go with this ND! I’m on my 5th Miata so far so I love seeing the Miata content!
Thanks for your support, I’ve been loving this car! This is #7 for me so I know how that goes. I’m very excited to be back making content!
I have my first miata. 2023 rf gt, it's like the car is molded for me. Continuing perfection.
I’d love an RF / higher trim in the future, I love them. Enjoy yours!
Congrats on your new ND! Looking forward to new contents on the car!
I appreciate it, I can't wait to work on it and share the journey with you all!
Welcome to the club! I've owned my 2019 ND2 for almost 2 years and 13k miles. Still as happy as day 1. Looks forward to the future content 💪
Thank you, They’re absolutely amazing cars! Enjoy yours, plenty of content to come with this one
Congrats Cash! Looking forward to see how she cleans up
Thanks Matt! Looking forward to seeing you guys at some events this year
Nice ND! Got mine almost a year ago now, it was an attainable dream car as well.
The ND came out right when I was a junior in high school; I had an NB at the time. You're going to love the car, it's the perfect blend of modernity and old-fashioned fun!
My guess is you got it for $7000.
Awesome! They're amazing. After having several NAs and an NB, it;s a huge step up in terms of comfort, but still maintains razor sharp and playful handling. Enjoy yours my friend! You're not toooo far off
I saw this car both times it was listed! Briefly considered selling my NB2 for it. Glad to see you ended up picking it up, I'm very interested in seeing how things go with it.
If you got a little off the asking price for this car I'll guess ~$9,000!
I was very excited when he responded the 2nd time! You’re very close on the price, the closest out of the comments. Will be an awesome project!
The ND Miata truely is an amazing car. I had a 2016 Grand Touring for three years when it came out. Ending up selling it in hopes of owning an 2019 year or newer because of the upgraded tech and HP. But unexpectly i stubbled upon a 1990 that really caught my eye in my area. 40,000 in mint condition and always stored indoors. It was also fully optioned out too at the time. It really is a time capsule. But anyway congrats on the purchase you are gonna love it. Cant wait to see the results of your hard work on repairing it.
Also I plan on getting an ND again one day! I still haven't given up. Because I kept all the upgrades from my previous one 😂
I've been absolutely loving it so far! That's awesome that you've had both. That NA is probably top 1% nicest left! I'm excited to dive into this one
Awesome, what did you do for upgrades?
@@CashedOutCars Just a few things. Got some cool silver matte BBS wheels and brembo brakes. (I know I should've just gotten a club editon but at the time it was hard to get one and I was impatient 😫) I also got a AEM cold air intake and borla s type exhaust to give it some more air and a little bit of noise for the ears. Not too loud didn't drone out. Also got some Flyin Miata coilovers. But those never got put on because I never got the time. My intention wasn't to go all race car like my friends wanted me to too but it was tempting. I just wanted a somewhat nice comfortable summer car to drive to work lol.
@4:50 Bondo and paint make it what it ain't... got three years to build one with my kid ... keep on posting ... your M.I.A.T.A = Miata Is Always The Answer
I have a 2018 GT in black with a dark cherry roof. Yesterday, someone at the mall gave it its first door ding, so I’ll be interested in the dent repair video. My car has the same mileage as yours, just hitting 56,000 miles yesterday, and coincidentally, i replaced the oil cap with the same red billet one that you have. Great car, and extremely dependable. I did have to replace the A/C last year, but in South Florida, we use the air 365 days a year, even with the top down. I’ve had to replace A/C systems in several of my cars over the years, so it’s a common problem here.
I LOVE the dark cherry roofs on those. Video will be coming out soon, but I have some other projects in tackling before I make that video. Stay tuned and enjoy the car!
Awesomeeee i have the exact same one since last year, 2.0 l 160hp ND1 sports line, only difference is it was built in 2015 and its white :D
That’s awesome! I love white on these cars. After driving it I’m surprised I waited this long to get one, they’re amazing. Enjoy yours!
I bought a cheap ND Miata, that needs a bit of love. I'm super excited to share this car with you all! Take a guess at what I paid below👇
2016 MX-5 Sport soft top 6 speed manual with a salvage title 56,000 miles plus hail damage & sitting in a Copart Lot for a while. No cup holders didn't say if it came with a Manual detailing operations. Rough engine bay / wet trunk area. Plus a mouse problem that could effect wiring. Its the saddest looking ND I've ever seen that wasn't totaled ! So I'll guess $2,200.00 .
------------------------- I own a 2016 MX-5 Club soft top with the Brembo / BBS package that came from the factory. Really a great car all
around. What your doing with your ND Sport is called sweat equity back in the day. GL !
Junk yard parts? CARBON FIBER! I think you paid $3000 as is after totaled title. Well worth any money, put a wrap on it after you work out some hail damage.
Cool man
Thanks my friend!
man! i thought i just bought the cheapest ND in the country but im sure you have me beat lol. 2016 ND with no accidents for $13k… but it has 80k miles lol
That’s still a good deal for no accidents! They’re great cars. I do have you beat by quite a bit, but I’m sure yours is less rough around the edges than this one
I was thinking of doing the same thing. There's a couple that's around 12-15k
They’re a TON of value. If you’re patient you should be able to get into one closer to that 12k end or even less
brother couldve had a whole child in the time he was gone
Instead I bought two more cars👀
@@CashedOutCars looking forward, looking forward to it keep the videos coming man
I absolutely will! I was working on a new space to film and work on cars, and I’m finally to the point where I’m happy with it and will be making consistent videos again. Thanks for your support!
That oil cap is actually a factory option
That’s awesome, thanks for that info!
@@CashedOutCars No problem! It’s part of the interior package which is a $500 option, includes the oil cap, alloy pedals and sill plates.
@seanregan2514 ahh that’s great. That makes sense, I’ve been having people ask if the pedals were stock or not. I appreciate the info!
Can a 6.3" fit okay in nd mx5? As a daily?
You might be able to just about fit. You can always install seat lowering brackets, and with those you will fit fine.
You would fit better in a NC as that generation has more room plus you can save some $$$.
@@ag4allgood I do like NC2! But it's surprising difficult to find a decent one with LSD for that much cheaper than ND.
My guess is 6500 my buddy just got his 2016 salvage 23k mileage and only damage was trunk and a bit of the rear quarter from something falling on it and he got it for cheap thought he had one of the cheapest in the country
How much did your buddy get that one for? Was it a salvage or rebuilt title?
@CashedOutCars yeah he got it rebuilt tho from a dealership for around 14k
‘Bout time.
Let’s get a truck next!
Super glad I got this! I got a tow vehicle that I haven't showed off on the channel yet, it's not exactly a truck, but the Europeans love them and I have been loving it as well. Content to come on that soon enough!
@@CashedOutCars you got a Sprinter?
p.s. when are you putting the Mazda 1.8/2.0/2.2L V6 into an Mx-5?
8-9k
Lol, the obsession for cup holders from you USAians! I don't think I've ever had a drink in my Miata :D
Hahaha it makes a big difference for me, I like having my mug of tea or water available!
@@CashedOutCars You all do! :D
I am gonna guess $6500
$1500
$1200 my guess
$7200
You're not too far off!
Gonna guess you got it for 10k
A bit high but not terribly far off!
$5000
I wish! That's a bit lower than it was
$400
I'll dream about $400 NDs!
how come u never posted the v8 miata wheel setup?
I hate these click-bait titles. It's literally not the cheapest and we know that!
WTF does ND mean?
I haven’t found one that’s registrable (not a salvage title) for within 3k of this price a year before I bought this, or since I bought it. Feel free to give it a shot though! ND is the 4th generation Miata
NA is the classic one, the one most think of when they hear "miata" with the popup headlights and cute smile.
NB is the second gen a little newer, NC is the "boat" and ND is the newest one.
@@AndrewButorin Ok, I really don't know much about them other than the older gens honestly. I still think these things are over priced for what you get, but they can be fun.
@@twiztidsidfreak13 I get where you’re coming from but personally driving a Miata, even a mundane drive is fun. Smile on my face the whole time and it handles GREAT. Not a care salesman just love my miata. Test drove a bunch of other cars, Honda Civic, Chevy Trax, Mini Cooper, Subaru Impreza… list goes on. But nothing could match the excitement the Miata gave me
@@twiztidsidfreak13 But yes it is overpriced. Mostly comes from the expensive magnesium and aluminum alloys they use to keep the car so light. In my opinion though, the FUN is worth the price. (MD miata that I have)
