I remember when this happened and it made me sad. I had been watching the tv show. I was so shocked someone would do this to her. Thank you for sharing this.
I remember this one well. Such troubled individuals are probably even more of an issue in the age of an internet, and something anybody who attains any level of celebrity has to take into consideration.
Such a waste of a beautiful, talented lady. She had so much potential. Listening to this case I am reminded of the murder of Jill Dando. So many of a celebrity's fans wish them well, but there is always the odd one who can harm them. I am pleased that laws were passed to protect others.
I love your vids and look forward to them. I especially love your little "easter eggs" at the end. I always make sure my volume is up and hold my phone to my ear so that catch the Easter egg. 😂 It's the little things that catch my attention.
Pssst...another great story, CR, thanks! Hope you and yours are staying healthy and you’re not getting cabin fever from the lockdowns all over the world. I look forward to next week. I wish you luck in your research...goodbye!
I remember this case. Back in the days, fan magazines used to publish the home mailing addresses of celebrities. A little later, if someone wanted to write a celebrity, they wrote to them in care of an agent, manager or sometimes the studios. With the internet, it has become a little simpler and faster to reach a celebrity. When I hear stories about obsessive fandom, I begin to look at the fan. He or she sees something special in the artist. They are so in love with the artist that they want to live vicariously in their lives. They will be very protective and believe that the artist was put on earth for that individual fan. They fantasize about the artist to the point where the fan’s world begins and ends with the artist. The fan sees themselves in the artist so much that they more often than not, begin to have self hate. Celebrity status is seen as many things to many people, especially, the artist. The artist has a job to do, and no doubt loves; making people happy. Because the fans also pledge their love and support to the artist. But even artists need a break from their careers to take care of other personal matters. An obsessive fan of the singer Bjork attempted to send a video of his suicide and a homemade bomb to her. The video and the bomb was intercepted by the authorities. Rebecca, if she didn’t open the door to Bardo, would’ve been the first to get a message out to fans and everyone else about respecting privacy. But her murder was the first in this attempt to stop stalking. Now, it continues online.
I actually read somewhere that Pam Dawber was so devastated that she pushed for the mentioned changes to the Law!! Also, she admitted that her life would never be the same because of the loss of Rebecca!!
I was able to first season taping of My Sister Sam. She was so humble along with Pam and Pam's fiance Mark. I remember crying when I heard of her death. A beautiful soul gone but not forgotten. RIP Angel♥️
Screw her.. How Hollywood programs us to ignore the ‘men behind the curtain’ Published before Trump's election in 2016 by an unknown publisher. You’ve just seen behind a curtain you weren’t even supposed to know existed - ‘Richardson’ in The Adjustment Bureau They are partners in propaganda, collaborators in control. The mainstream news media and Hollywood movie studios are cogs in a powerful machine that conditions us to accept a world view favourable to the global corporate elite. Most of us are not even aware we’re being conditioned; we don’t see how we’re beingmanipulated. That’s why it works so well. The media contribute to the deception by how they cover the news or don’t cover it - in other words, which subjects they ignore and which questions they avoid asking. Most of us think the media have the job of keeping the powers that be in check, and exposing their mistakes and excesses. But in reality, the media are the propaganda arm of the power structure, and they exist to support and reinforce perceptions that favour the elites. This can easily be seen in how they cover 9/11 and the supposed “war on terror.” The mainstream media might dabble at times in doubts about how the war is being waged, but they won’t expose the fact that it is a complete Orwellian fraud designed to keep us distracted and frightened while the elites go about their business of raping our planet and enslaving its inhabitants. And 9/11 is broken down by the media into heroism, government “mistakes,” and endless debates about whether Muslims did it or just fundamentalist Muslims. Any other possibility - like 9/11 being a false-flag operation used by the elites to tighten their grip on us - is ignored or ridiculed with dismissive condescension and quips about the psychology of “conspiracy theorists.” When I say that the media are not interested in exposing the real truth, that they’re more concerned with serving their corporate masters, I mean mainly- but not exclusively - the big players. And I don’t mean all journalist are “in on it.” I get this question from people who think that all it would take would be one reporter to spill the beans and the whole lie would fall apart. If only it were so easy. But those looking for career advancement on CNN, Fox, or any other major network or newspaper know which perspective will serve them and which won’t. Self-censorship can be more pervasive and more insidious than the forced kind. So how does Hollywood fit into this? Its effect can be even more subtle in shaping our attitudes towards events in the world around us. There are two main ways this happens with Hollywood films: one is when a film directly conditions us to accept the world view the elites want us to have. Sometimes this can seem pretty obvious - with excessively pro-American or pro-military films like Independence Day orTop Gun, for example. Other times it’s much more subtle. In Enemy of the State, for example, we learn all about the evils of the surveillance society only to find out in the end that it was just a few “rogues” that were the problem. The system emerges unscathed. Either way this disguised propaganda pushes us to accept the narrative created for us by the elite. This usually involves a simplistic “us” and “them” opposition. We’re offered a false choice - such as that between people who love freedom and people who “hate us for our freedoms.” The second way films help shape our attitudes is through what is known as predictive programming. This is when films, television, or other entertainment vehicles introduce subjects before they appear in real life to prepare us to accept them when they do. I believe this was done with 9/11, and I’ll be writing a lot more about this in the weeks ahead. This takes us even deeper down the rabbit hole. We are shown in a film something that seems to be exposing a hidden truth about our world. One of two things happens: We are able to indulge our fascination with the dark world of conspiracies for a while before returning to the real world where these things, of course, don’t really happen[/*]Or, we are shown most of the truth about something but with just enough that isn’t true to lead us to draw the wrong conclusions[/*]
The X-Files went full speed for the first of these two. Every conspiracy conceivable was true. We were able to get all of that stuff out of our collective system so we could get back to ridiculing it in real life. A great example of the second possibility is the Matt Damon thriller The Adjustment Bureau. In this film, a seemingly dark and sinister otherworldly “elite” literally runs the world by plotting out exactly how everyone’s life will unfold. A mistake is made by the unseen guardians of humanity, and Damon’s character becomes aware of the behind-the-scenes control that he is being subjected to. He rebels because the plan for him won’t allow him to stay with the woman he has fallen in love with. For most of the film, we cheer Damon’s individuality as he battles to escape this control. In the end (spoiler alert!!), the “chairman” is so darned impressed with Damon’s feistiness that he lets him have the girl. He is told: “Freewill is a gift you’ll never know how to use until you fight for it. I think that’s the chairman’s plan. And one day we won’t write the plan, you will.” This is a major red flag giving us an insight into the real deception, the real manipulation. Damon is told we need to be controlled because we’d blow ourselves up if left to our own devices. So, the benign master has to step in to “help.” The other deception, of course, is that Damon finds out about the “men behind the curtain” and successfully overcomes their control. We love watching this in the movies, but we’d scoff at it in real life. Seeing this clever plot twist on reality seems to make us less likely to believe such oppressive control really exists. Ingenious. And this is just one of dozens of films that work this subtle form of conditioning. Films that deal with the idea of an unseen controlling force include The Truman Show, Dark City, The Matrix, The Game, Vanilla Sky, The Devil’s Advocate, The Forgotten, Unknown, V for Vendetta, The Usual Suspects, Enemy of the State, They Live!, Eyes Wide Shut, The Manchurian Candidate, Three Days of the Condor, The Island, and many others. These films give us a hint about how we’re being controlled, but ultimately they’re part of that control.
Rebecca's death was so sad because she was so young and just starting out in acting. It was one of those things you don't forget because it was all over the news. She was in a very good made for TV movie called the Hijacking of the Achille Lauro.
Mr.CR hope your doing good brother. I remember being a kid and seeing her on the TV GUIDE. Such a sad story I do hope everyone is healthy and keeping it together! This to Shall Pass...Thank you for the content we can always count on you bro..
I used to watch "My sister Sam." I remember it as good fun light entertainment. My reaction when I heard about Rebecca's murder was, "Oh God not another one. Who'd want to be famous?" Another pointless killing by a silly little man. Thanks for filling in the gaps C.R. I knew some of it but not the whole story. Psst, looking forward to hearing your next upload.

Pam took it hard, she truly cared for her. Appreciate making sure to say all her qualities and capabilities! Stay safe out there my friend and all. ❤️🙏 Pssssst, thanks for the tip, I will be watching.
I never watched my sister sam. I do remember seeing on the news the murder of this young girl. I never knew the facts until now about the man who murdered her. You did a great job CR with giving such details. Truly great narration!

such a tragic thing to happen and it's even sadder that it takes something like this to happen for authorities to act with legislation but all too common unfortunately. thanks for another good episode. always stay up to watch crime reel (it comes in here around 11:30pm or so). Even nicer at present with all that's going on with this virus to look forward to watching something enjoyable (even if the stories are tragic). I lost my job yesterday due to the virus shutdowns here in Australia so look forward to watching something interesting and that isn't about the virus. A shame your stories only come out once a week but all good anyway!
So sorry to hear about your job Megan, in the UK a lot of people are being furloughed (I had never heard of this word before) which is a way of laying people off and then the government pay 80% of the wages up to £2.5k per month. When the crisis is over people are re-employed, this can last for up to a year. Hopefully it wont be that long
@@TheCrimeReel they considered doing the same here but aren't. people have to go through centrelink which is the government benefits organisation to get help. there have people lining up for blocks to register (so much for social distancing and banning mass gatherings. the centrelink lines are huge). so many don't have any work now so I'm not alone. anyway good to be able to go to favourite channels and watch something not about the damn virus.
@@tasgardener7923 Sorry to hear that, its peace of mind for a lot of people but the self employed people are just down for statutory sick pay which is under £100 a week. The people are urging the government to look into that.
@@TheCrimeReel yeah same is happening here with such groups. hoping I'll get my job back when this is over but we'll see. I don't actually like it that much anyway but it's ok and most importantly pays the bills so if I can get it back and nothing else comes up I'll take it back. in the meantime it'll be stay at home as much as possible (we're not in full lock down here as yet), get the autumn garden in and watch crime reel (and brief case) videos! historical cases are as interesting as they are tragic. there is one a (very old )case here (back in the early 1800's I think) here I'd like see someone do a story on about a place called Garth where a child fell into the well. I think she was only two years old. as the story goes her nanny was chasing her for some reason. the nanny fell into the water well also and I think she drowned too in trying to get the little girl out.. as I remember she got the blame for the child's death. the girl is buried on the property but not sure what happened to the nanny. it's said the little girl haunts the ruins now. My father who was stone mason repaired gravestone for the then owners of the property as it had long fallen down and was in pieces he also put in a plaque with a bit of the case story on it.
His parents and brother should've been charged with his abuse way before Shaeffer's murder ever happened. I wonder, did no one know what was going on in that family? Why would you not report it? Too bad he hadn't topped himself or had the decency to do it while he's been incarcerated. Thanks for the upload, TCR!
I'm 44 and remember Rebecca Schaeffer from the television show My sister Sam and the movie called Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills. What a pointless, senseless murder. She was 21 years old. I've said it before, how many murders could have been prevented if people just didn't open their door when someone knocked or rang the doorbell? I'm not saying that ultimately if he wanted to kill her, he wouldn't have found another way. But if she just didn't open her door, she might not have been killed. And I'm not blaming her in anyway. It always amazes me how people just open up their door for some random person who they don't even know. Sad story.
@@theveganvillainess Exactly. There have been SO many cases where people have been murdered simply by opening up their door when someone rang the doorbell. I don't open up the door for anyone, unless I know them and are expecting them. And I'm still cautious. I just never understood why a person would just casually open up their door for a person that they don't know? Maybe it's the New Yorker in me, but if you come to my door and I don't know you or am not expecting you, I'm not opening the door under any circumstances.

Would you consider doing another one like this on Dominique Dunne who was killed by an ex...I used to watch her father's true crime program: Power, Privilege & Justice...he (Dominiek John Dunne) was the host...he lost both his daughters...one to disease & the other to murder I believe, although I could not find any info on his other daughter who died young of a congenital disease.
This is the 1st true crime video that (for some reason) I just can't finish b/c I already know what's going to happen. I never once saw her act but this has stuck with me ever since I read 'The Gift of Fear.'
Thanks Christopher, I deliberately made this one about focusing and celebrating her life rather than about the attacker. I do understand your decision though. Thanks
I have never heard of this case or the tv shows because my husband and I had just moved abroad at this time and were watching older dubbed American shows where we lived, nothing current. Such a loss RIP. Thanks for an interesting post.
i remember when this happened. it was so shocking and tragic. stalking was unknown of at the time to the average person, but this put it in the spotlight. it is terrible that someone has to die before steps are taken to protect people.
I recall this one on the news. Two tragedies! A system that failed him and a career 'glitch' that failed her! Never answer fan mail because there are people like this out there and any response could be taken as a love interest . Fan Clubs were usually filled with those who emotionally invest themselves in fantasies. Sad all the way around.
What a sad story. I remember when this happened, it shocked the whole country. I seem to remember Pam Dauber fighting very hard to get that anti stalking law passed, and the one prohibiting anyone giving out private addresses.
I have heard about her murder and another young star, can't remember her name, who played the older sister in the movie Poltergeist. These young women died tragically, I do remember that and the news coverage, but I was very young so I don't know much about either case. I was born in May of 1981 so when these things happened all I cared about was my cartoons especially She-Ra (the original, not the stupid Netflix one). Lives taken too soon especially the young if I remember correctly her first name was Judith and she did the voice of Ducky in The Land Before Time and also the main character in All Dogs To Heaven. That was tragic. Also the little girl who played Carol Ann in Poltergeist just as tragic because she had been misdiagnosed of her intestinal issues and after she died they knew what it was. Those two little girls could be alive today and could still be in movies today.
The first one you're thinking about, her name was Dominique Dunn. She was murdered by her boyfriend. Judith Barzee was the little girl who voiced Duckey in The Land Before Time. She was murdered by her abusive alcoholic father. Heather O'Rourke was the little girl from Poltergeist. She died from a misdiagnosed bowel obstruction. All were very sad and tragic deaths.
Psst, I love secrets, I actually remember seeing this show a few times, but I didn't remember what happened to her. Why does something horrible always have to happen before they change laws? Can they never think ahead? Poor girl didn't have a chance.
@Jeff Z true, I guess it seems obvious because I'm looking back. It was a more naive time back then and you didn't hear about so many random acts of violence.
I remember when this happened. So sad, Dominique Dunne was also really sad. Why did she answer that door the 1st time ?? The nut would have just been waiting in the bushes I guess
@@TheCrimeReel yeah, at that point it wouldn't have mattered, he was too crazy by then. He would have just gotten her a different way, just a matter of time. Wish people around him would have been paying attention -maybe it would have turned out differently! Sad.
She answered the Door because her Buzzer was broken so the only way she could find out who was at her Door was to Open It and Sadly for her it was a Crazed fan with a Gun 😡 Tragic 😥 May She RIP 🌹
@@kevinhennessy1615 I also heard she was excited and waiting for a script for 'The Godfather '. I never missed 'My sister Sam ' and this broke my heart. This is when I learned how shitty the world is.Maybe that's why it still bothers me all these years later. I remember my dad trying to explain it and finally he agreed that ppl don't get what they deserve and nothing is fair. Sad
I used to watch My Sister Sam. I remember when this happened. It was the first case I followed from crime to trial to sentencing and beyond. It was very sad and heart crushing. Psst....I remember that episode of 20/20. It was very touching. 🍏🍎
I had dinner with Theresa Saldana and some friends at he place in Hollywood years ago. She was a lovely and kind person who you may remember was attacked viciously with a knife by an insane fan a few years before. While most of her scars had healed well, you could tell she was deeply scarred inside. That someone could cause pain to such lovely young women or indeed to anyone, for that matter, is inconceivable. Theresa has passed away since then, but not before making a film about the stalking and near death experience. Sadly enough, it was the attack on Theresa Saldana that inspired Rebecca Schaeffer's murderer to track down his victim by using a private detective. In Ms Schaeffer's attack, no one was nearby enough to intervene - especially since a gun was involved. Theresa was attacked in front of her house, and though present, no bystanders took any action until a deliveryman, a hero named JEFF FENN, bounded down from the second floor of a nearby building and jumped the attacker, incapacitating him. After being imprisoned, the attacker repeatedly threatened Ms Saldana, Mr Fenn, and his own lawyer. After a prison term, he was extradited to England to face other charges there and to everyone's delight, died in the madhouse. Thanks for another great video. Cheers!
You did a great job on this sad story, like many others you have made. Wish success to your channel! Thank you for yours always great researchs. Wish nice weekend C.R

I remember when this happened and it made me sad. I had been watching the tv show. I was so shocked someone would do this to her. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks Kitty
I remember this one well.
Such troubled individuals are probably even more of an issue in the age of an internet, and something anybody who attains any level of celebrity has to take into consideration.
Such a waste of a beautiful, talented lady. She had so much potential. Listening to this case I am reminded of the murder of Jill Dando. So many of a celebrity's fans wish them well, but there is always the odd one who can harm them. I am pleased that laws were passed to protect others.
Thanks Elizabeth, this one was solved vs Jills case
and they never got him, the jill dando murder?......
My parents watched that show when I was a kid.
Thanks William
I love your vids and look forward to them. I especially love your little "easter eggs" at the end. I always make sure my volume is up and hold my phone to my ear so that catch the Easter egg. 😂 It's the little things that catch my attention.
Aw thanks, consider it an early Easter present lol

Hi Carrie, I have been self isolating since Saturday and all Okay at the moment
Yes indeed Belle, it is understandable with dealing with something that horrible. Thanks
I was able to first season taping of My Sister Sam. She was so humble along with Pam and Pam's fiance Mark. I remember crying when I heard of her death. A beautiful soul gone but not forgotten. RIP Angel♥️
such a sweet comment abour Rebecca, Kathie, thanks
👍Stay safe, say well, TCR. We all need you!
Trying my best Bilinda, been self isolating since Saturday. Stay safe
That girl was destined for great things until a maniac with a gun ended it all. RIP
So true, thanks ZeroBS
The fool later bragged with excitement how she reacted when he shot her as if retelling of how he caught the biggest fish in the lake.
Screw her..
How Hollywood programs us to ignore the ‘men behind the curtain’
Published before Trump's election in 2016 by an unknown publisher.
You’ve just seen behind a curtain you weren’t even supposed to know existed - ‘Richardson’ in The Adjustment Bureau
They are partners in propaganda, collaborators in control.
Any other possibility - like 9/11 being a false-flag operation used by the elites to tighten their grip on us - is ignored or ridiculed with dismissive condescension and quips about the psychology of “conspiracy theorists.”
When I say that the media are not interested in exposing the real truth, that they’re more concerned with serving their corporate masters, I mean mainly- but not exclusively - the big players.
We’re offered a false choice - such as that between people who love freedom and people who “hate us for our freedoms.”
The second way films help shape our attitudes is through what is known as predictive programming.
One of two things happens:
We are able to indulge our fascination with the dark world of conspiracies for a while before returning to the real world where these things, of course, don’t really happen[/*]Or, we are shown most of the truth about something but with just enough that isn’t true to lead us to draw the wrong conclusions[/*]
And one day we won’t write the plan, you will.”
This is a major red flag giving us an insight into the real deception, the real manipulation. Damon is told we need to be controlled because we’d blow ourselves up if left to our own devices. So, the benign master has to step in to “help.”
The other deception, of course, is that Damon finds out about the “men behind the curtain” and successfully overcomes their control.
What a shame...great job CR....Cheers to You & BC...
so sad, Thanks Wanda

Rebecca's death was so sad because she was so young and just starting out in acting. It was one of those things you don't forget because it was all over the news.
She was in a very good made for TV movie called the Hijacking of the Achille Lauro.

I used to watch "My sister Sam." I remember it as good fun light entertainment.
My reaction when I heard about Rebecca's murder was, "Oh God not another one. Who'd want to be famous?"
Another pointless killing by a silly little man.
Thanks for filling in the gaps C.R. I knew some of it but not the whole story.

I remember her so well. I watched and liked My Sister Sam. Her and Pam Dawber worked well together. Unfortunately remember him to. Stuck with me so young, smart and pretty! Pam took it hard, she truly cared for her.

such a tragic thing to happen and it's even sadder that it takes something like this to happen for authorities to act with legislation but all too common unfortunately. thanks for another good episode. always stay up to watch crime reel (it comes in here around 11:30pm or so).
Thanks Jennifer
Damn guys, sorry I'm late. But I had to work today. Still a wonderful video!!!
Thanks PP, pleased you made it.
Thanks for recommendation!
Any time!
Sad story.
Yes, I have a camera in front of my door and I always look out to see who is there. I think everyone should have cameras at their homes these days.
Such a good point Martin. Thanks

Fun fact Crime Reel, actress Pam Dawber is married to actor Mark Harmon, star of the hit TV Show, NCIS
That is a fun fact Steph, thanks for that
@Shirley Bailey I love that my friends on here are so knowledgeable. Thanks Shirley
Thats an extensive comment Erika, thanks so much for that
The first one you're thinking about, her name was Dominique Dunn.

So sad. Such a lovely family.
Yes indeed Denise
Cheers!
