Congrats on 6 months. I am on this regimen as well and I apply coconut or castor oil to my strands. This method is more about decreasing the dependency on commercial shampoo and conditioners and more about increasing your knowledge of what you hair really needs in simplicity.
Wow well done. Soo happy for your results. Her hair is longer (the WOW lady) and am wondering how she gets the sebum all the way down there [plus she dont need to use acv that freq. I would probably trouble shoot with her how to rid of the flakes rather than using acv that freq? All the best.
Hi Micarae! Thank you for sharing! I have a question for you...have you ever experienced a gray cast on your hair? I noticed my hair looking very ashy...but I could feel that it was covered with sebum. Is that normal? Thank you!!
Ashley Crutchfield I'm still learning the WOW method -- 2 1/2 months now. The grayness is excess sebum. It happens usually after you've gotten full sebum coverage. You need to do a rinse with something that will only remove the excess--without stripping it all away. Not to steal/steer from this site, but WaterOnlyHairWash has suggestions for what natural products will do so.
try aloe:filtered water/tea at a 1:3 ratio mixed with a few drops of glycerin, panthenol, vit e oil etc as your leave-in. I've been wo for about 3 months and had the same concern about protecting my lengths. most regular leave ins have cetyl alcohol or btms or something in it which sticks to hair and leaves a sticky awful mess when you don't use shampoos and will also strip sebum (trust me, i've had it happen). It's like once you go wo you have to stay as close to nature as possible to make it work. thanks for your great info!
Thanks for the recipe! Yes, I really don't want to become dependent on anything commercial, that I love, just to see it discontinued or ingredients changed for the worst. I've been through it too many times to count. Thanks again!
This sounds like a great recipe! I personally just use a 1 to 4 or 1 to 5 ratio of aloe juice and distilled water and get great results. Leaves my hair so moisturized, soft, shiny, and defined. If helps with mild to moderate tangles too. I've also noticed my hair feels stronger from use. It seems to preserve the hair and feels great on the scalp, especially when I use it pre-rinse after working out.
Thank you! Yes girl, yes! Say it again! Water has been deemed, "the enemy", too many times in our community. It's sooo what our hair and scalps need! Big ups to Felicia! Lol!
I’m glad you said your using other then water 💦 on your strands it’s hard for me to grasps only using water to wash my hair😳 not saying it doesn’t work for you or anybody else. It’s jus scalp needs to be cleansed regularly so hair can flourish from it healthy. I personally probably neva do it But I’m not mad whoever does. Hey do you. 💁🏽♀️
+Chara Wells Stronger hair and hair that feels supple and moisturized. Eventually, I'll cleanse every so often with a clay wash. Conventional products have never provided me with the health I have now achieved with my hair. I know many look down on this method but this is the only way I was able to attain success with not only healthy hair but healthy LOOKING hair!
+Chara Wells I have only to cleanse off excess sebum- when my hair was weighed down and too buttery soft I used Shea Moisture super fruit to make it fuffy again. Plus, I wanted my hair to smell sweet.
Your hair is gorgeous! I was a skeptic, but lately I have been watching lots of water only videos. I now want to give it a try. I already cleanse with Bentonite clay. I am getting Senegalese twists in two weeks. Should I wait until after I take them out to start the water only regimen?
I'm so sorry I completely missed your question! Thank u and yes, I would wait on starting wow until after you remove your twists. I say simply because those frequent scalp massages from that showerhead are very addictive and I wouldn't want to frizz up or loosen your twists too much.😊
Well, I installed mini twists no hair added and did it for approx a month. It was great, but after I took my twist down it was just too much. My hair is extremely thick and I became overwhelmed with trying to wash my hair every day. :(
Andrea Hutchinson I'd love to! I may have some time to film in the next 2 weeks 😊. Yes, I still do bentonite on my scalp and I use commercial conditioner on my length (for slip to detangle)👍. It's definitely a modified water only at this point.😊
micarae hello, when you apply the conditioner to your length doesn't it strip your strands of the sebum and make it a longer process to bring the sebum down to your strands?
Her Facade I would say yes and no. Being that I use conditioner on the middle to ends, most of the sebum near the scalp isn't affected. Unless I'm doing a lot of smoothing and coaxing the sebum down the length, regularly (like 3x a week), which I'm not, there's hardly any sebum from the middle to the ends anyway. If there is any sebum near the ends, I'm sure the conditioner would rinse some of it away. Sebum has an interesting feel though, it's very waxy, so it might not be affected at all by the conditioner😉 Good question 🤔
Honestly, my hair seems to grow at the average, half inch per month, regardless of what I do. I gauge my growth from my grey hairs. When I henna, which is every 3-4 months, I look at my grey roots first, then apply my Henna. I henna'd on 1/1/16 so I'll try to snap pics all year to see if the growth rate has increased. I'll do my best to keep u posted!😚
Janay Dixon do what you gotta do girlfriend 😊. I've had to do the same thing a few times here and there. I love silicone conditioner to detangle my length. Every now and again, the conditioner will get on my scalp. It's no biggie, but I can definitely tell when it hasn't completely rinsed away. I try to keep a watery/thinner rhassoul or bentonite in my shower on standby, in an old leave in bottle 😉. I may buy a poo bar (I've used them in the past) and keep it on standby, just for some suds action 😄. I miss the suds sometimes, I'm so brainwashed lol. Be blessed!🤗
Hi ! cool video, nice hair an good to hear this method has helped your scalp. I just started 3 days ago, lol incorporating yet in a modified version. Im following all the steps aside from preening with my nails, after massaging , I find use a $ 1.00 shampoo brush to lose n move the sebum helps.. Never had a hair regimen , but do now its simple, cuts down on time and money spent on highin products, Question- 1.when and what do you do to detangle hair after or before the rinse? 2. How often do you rinse? 3. Have you seen any growth over the 7 months using this method? Thanks for getn back #goodInfo # do moreVideo
Thanks! And thanks for watching! I use the pads of my fingertips to preen and rub my scalp, but your $1 brush probably does a fabulous job.😀 I rinse about twice a week now, just because of schedule and my growth rate is pretty steady. I rate my growth based on when I henna dye my roots (which are gray in certain spots). I get the average 1/2 per month. So glad you have developed your regimen! We seriously ALL need one, no matter how simple or complicated. Before I rinse, I find spritzing with water helps me get my hair into the sections I rinse them in. I exclusively finger detangle, so trying to get a comb through is no longer a thought😉. Water mixed with some oil or organic conditioner (shaken really good) probably works too. I got some mallow root and slippery elm powder on Etsy, super cheap, and the combo is bomb for any stubborn knots. Google it😉 so much great info out there. The hair becomes so coated with sebum or any oils you've added, detangling is not a chore at all. Hth!
@Sharnell Grant and Ukeme Anwana, for some strange reason, I can't reply to you! RUclips fluke? Anyway, do it @Sharnell! If it worked 4 u, go for it! @Ukeme when I say I've tried it all? I've tried it ALL lol. ACV used to work years ago for me, but very temporary. Wow-ing works for me, ya heard me lol? I preen in the shower, under the showerhead.😉
So happy to have found your channel! cannot wait to get started!! YOUR HAIR IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL!!!
Congrats on 6 months. I am on this regimen as well and I apply coconut or castor oil to my strands. This method is more about decreasing the dependency on commercial shampoo and conditioners and more about increasing your knowledge of what you hair really needs in simplicity.
Thanks and yes! You said that perfectly!👍
Beautiful hair!!! I am enjoying the WOW too! I started in August, and it has been great for my hair!
IKR! My scalp is so happy.😊

I've been doing this method for 1 month as of today!! I love it!!! ❤️
It's great. It really shows you how minimalism is the key to it all.😉
@micarae
you haven't updated your blog - will you be writing more?
Beautiful hair! My regimine is kind of similar. Water is so good for our hair. I look like bye Felicia as well while I type this lol

Thank you!😊
Tfs. Your hair is gorgeous. So do you WOW your hair about every 3 days? I'm new to trying the method and really hope it helps to tame my dandruff.
Thanks and yes I do! I last did my hair Saturday and today is Wednesday so I may redo it tonight or wait until the weekend. I 💖 it.
I sincerely hope so. Sorry about that. I now see why this takes more time than I have. I'll do my best! Thanks for inquiring!😌
I've been in for 5 months and love it!
Fabulous!!!

Thank you for the information! I will try this Method!
Hello! can you do an updated wash day video please. Are you still doing water only wash? Thank you! in advance. God bless you!
