Mylarmelodies and Divkid are my go-to RUclipsrs whenever I want to learn a new module. I just ordered the Stoicheia a couple of days ago and now I'm even more excited to get it!
I happen to be studying how to calculate Euclidean Distance to measure dissimilarity between two observations as part of cluster analysis in data analytics. Which is why I am procrastinating and watching modular synthesis videos on youtubes. Okay, back to the books. Always enjoy the videos Mylar.
What an inspiring video! I found this by Googling "Eucliean melodies" ... after watching this I immediately set about trying to see how I could replicate it. What I ended up with is Euclidean Circles > mult > Pittsburgh Sequencer/envelope or function generator. Using another output of Euclidean circles into Branches feeds random triggers to the Hold and Reset inputs on the sequencer to add some randomness and complexity. Great fun! Thanks!
This was such a good tutorial. P.s. I'm not sure if this has been said already but "Stoicheia" in ancient greek means 'elements' or 'letters,' from putting something 'into a row'
I ran gate signals through my Maths using the summed output as a sequencer, and then the next day I saw a video from Superbooth previewing the Tonic. It's pretty cool, but I think I'll stick to using a mixer, as they are more multipurpose.
All of your videos are great! Would you say that owning the Euclidean Circles module and also getting the Stoicheia would be valuable? Very interested in this idea and nature of these modules and wasn’t sure if these two modules operated measurably different or could be used in a really unique ways individually for live purposes
The best way to describe their differences is to do with immediacy vs amount of channels - Euclidean Circles has more channels but uses pages so it's a shade less immediate (it is a VERY friendly 'paging' system though) - whereas Stoicheia has everything immediately there on the panel, but less channels.
"This is how algorithms make algo-riddims" absolutely _has_ to be the best thing I've ever heard in my life, and I've heard plenty of extremely nice things. #humblebrag #weirdflex
Either this or the VPME one are the ones I've tried, both good for different reasons! The VPME has more outputs but has shared controls, this has less outputs but dedicated controls.
hello i like your videos and specially the "why s&H are ace" is my favourite and you said in that video s&h were intended for making pads? isn´t very much info about that can you make a video on pads? thank you
The CV out of the Tonic always jumps back to the base pitch. Is there any way to bypass this? would be cool it the module only outputted the voltage of the last note
@@mylarmelodies Thanks for the tip mate. I've been using triggers from the digitakt/mutant brain, hence my unwanted slides. I can sequence gates with that combo so ill give longer gates a shot! Saw that vid but did not connect the dots, will check it out. thanks again!
In your video you have, what looks like an orange stack cable... Orange isn't a stackcable colour - is that a red stackcable being disguised by the unique lighting?
Anyone wishes a Mylar video would never end?

Hah! Put my one hour jam vid on and do some real work! 😘
Mylar makes a video. All modules sold out immediately on Thonk.

"...a sequential switch from Doepfer, never heard of them..." Ha! Alex, your tutorials are top drawer. Thanks man :)
I just saw this video the first time now and so far, I’m really entertained and learn a lot too.
always more people called Phil
XponoSigma just sounds really dirty. 😁 Gonna be gettin' me a Stoicheia real soon(tm)... Love your jams. 👍
dude I love you so much...
lol, i agree

I've bought 4 new pieces of gear in the last 3 weeks entirely because of this channel.
That keeps happening to me too!
Informative bud - and I love the humour :)
Hi Alex! Welcome back!
Brilliant ... two more modules on my radar 📡🎶🙂
drifted into some proper AFX territory in that last jam, mate
Niiice as allways. Good also to rediscover the module.
I've gotten some awesome sounds running BIA into Rings, glad I'm not the only one.
Holy fucking crap. It's my first time on your channel and it's ridiculous how good it is. I love you, please let me hold your babies.
This video feels like you are getting back to basics. Love the enthusiasm!
28:15 Christmas Techno.
Is the distortion on the drums coming from just the feedback CP3 mixer?
Thoroughly enjoyed :) as ever
19.30, this is what happens on a Saturday night after the clockmaker has left his workshop. The clocks get together for a mad rave up!
Awesome! How does the Stoicheia compare with Euclidean Circles?
I had the exact same question! (Especially v2 and with the euclidean circles expander)
That piano patch is bonkers 🎉

I agree, and in my opinion a bit more controlable, which i likeeee
scared for that stochastic function generator video!
...also, they're good looking modules. :)
Dude, I see the ADDAC 506 there. Will we will see a video on it?
You shall yes
You're now my new best friend!

@@mylarmelodies got it, super helpful to understand the difference - thanks!
Does the Stoicheia work with ext. shuffled clocks?
Yes! You can give it irregular or shuffled clocks.
I seem to remember you got hold of a Cirklon, if so when will you be breaking that out for a jam?
Need to spend a heeeeeeeeeck of a lot more time with it! But I will be, it's pretty underrepresented on here, and would like to fix that
"This is how algorithms make algo-riddims" absolutely _has_ to be the best thing I've ever heard in my life, and I've heard plenty of extremely nice things. #humblebrag #weirdflex
May I ask, which part of the UK do you live?
if I could only have one euclidean sequencer, would you recommend this or euclidean circles. For techno / electro stuff. Cheers boss!
Either this or the VPME one are the ones I've tried, both good for different reasons! The VPME has more outputs but has shared controls, this has less outputs but dedicated controls.
Might just have to go with which one looks cooler.
Which one looks cooler? Haha
2hp Euclidean is simple BUT has the missing CV control these others lack.
I'm soaking in the knowledge
👨🏫
1:28 i was craving for that kick drums to kick in so bad right here lmao! ;_;
Awesome vid!
“Sweet Holy...”
Me: “Matrim-“
“...Combination”
are you using any dynamics control (around 13minutes) or is it just neuron and stoicheia?
hello i like your videos and specially the "why s&H are ace" is my favourite and you said in that video s&h were intended for making pads? isn´t very much info about that can you make a video on pads? thank you
Very interesting!
Why would anyone want a Euclidean sequencer without CV control over step length and fills? Am I missing something here?
Thomas Brown add offset (rotation) and we are in 100% agreement.
drum & bass mate
Awesome video, man! What Module did the Piano Sounds (presumably samples) come from?
Cheers,
Joel
HAH, I am, and it is
@@mylarmelodies That build up was glorious. kink would be proud.
@@mylarmelodies Cheers, thank you! gotta look into that. Follow-up question tho. Why Stoichea and not, say, the Euclidian Circles Sequencer (apart from sponsoring)
The CV out of the Tonic always jumps back to the base pitch. Is there any way to bypass this? would be cool it the module only outputted the voltage of the last note
Ah is ee you bypass it by not using the gate output, more or less? btw great vid man!
See latest video about Sample and hold modules for an idea on that - but use longer gates too!

Had my eye on this one for years... You may have convinced me to bite the bullet.
But the pitch always returns to the root during release?
Yup. You could use a sample and hold module if you wanted it to ‘stick’, tho!
...that Subliminal Triceratops is a good one! :D
Great stuff! Programmed something similar with my patchblocks and MIDI last days. (mine's a bit more chaotic :)
19:22 LFO Frequencies stylee right there!
Oh you! x (Literally just got an LFO Frequencies shirt in the post yesterday)

Up to my ***** in debt, and Mr Mylar is to blame. Never mind.
Stolichnaya and tonic is good too.

No reason Vlad couldn’t just add it to the firmware.
