Amazing video! This advice is what I needed. I was struggling with finishing my games, for example even I was leading 7:3 (race to 10) sometimes I was blowing my lead due to stress and losing 8:10 though I was slightly better. I watched this video, I tried breathing exercise. Next day I was playing with one of the best player in the club. Whole game I was sitting like a boss, few times I was focusing on my breathing while sitting on my chair. Long story short I won 10:3 and this was my best game ever! Thank you my friend, I appreciate your effort making this videos! :) Greetings from Poland!
Hey, Niels. Thank you for all your tips. I am quite sure they will help me. I struggle so much with the mental aspect of the game, because i tend to fill my mind only with negative emotions. Especially in a decider frame in a tournament...it can be so overwhelming emotionally..To the point sometimes i almost get physically sick. I think some of us underestimated the mental aspect of the game, but i am sure this is very important as well. Thank you for your videos! You provide a lot of valuable information for us!

Great video... having just started playing pool only a few months ago... I can be honest and say I'm a "Fragile" Player! I don't have the confidence I see in other players and when I miss a simple shot that I've made multiple times with no problem, my mentality goes down hill and I blame myself and get upset. Niels need to sell an Anti-Fragile sticker or patch for bags because I would put that on my bag and look at it whenever I start to mentally defeat myself.
Thank you sir I appreciate the advice you just gave me I kind of lean toward the package that deal that you were talking about or blame it on somebody else's good fortune and I'm having a bad day or whatever and I just need to get out of that thank you
Hi, Niels, How are you? Enjoyed this video a lot. One thing I struggle w and wish you could make a video on is "winning your first few matches and keeping your focus throughout the tournament/competition" ... I feel I have tendency to "get complacent/lazy" after a few rounds - this is not just related to winning previous matches but, the "waiting between matches" absolutely kills me... I get "bored" or "unfocused" and my performance tends to drop as it goes on. Anyways. Hope all is well w you.

Tuesday NAPA was a great example for this. i had a race of opp 5 . Me 3 in 10ball. Handicapped by skill. he broke and missed his next shot. i finished the rack out, then broke and ran to the 6.10 combo for the Break and Out. i was up 2 -0 at this point. i broke dry he was snooked and decided to push out. at this point i chose to take the leave instead of giving it back to him. i missed and said well thats the turning point i didnt want. he won the next 3 and 4th was a 10 snap. he missed the 9 ball on his fifth rack giving me the win and overall match win. i took myself out mentally and i was doing everything you said not to do... this video came at a great time of need Niels. thank you again for great knowledge.
Great tips and advice here Niels! I find myself sitting off to the side, not talking to my teammates, when I'm not shooting in a match. It helps me focus and analyze. I try to keep it in my head that I'm playing against the table. I don't show any emotion either. I found that if I am watching the table, I am analyzing what my next moves are going to be so that when it's my turn, I have a plan.
@@brett6314 I don't worry about what my opponent can or does do. One of two things are going to happen. They are going to run out (in which case there is nothing I can do), or they are going to turn the table over. For me, if I am concentrating on my opponent, I'm not focusing on me. I sort of look at it this way: the table dictates the game. I control the table. Happy shooting!! 💪
@@Wyrmsfire awesome. I like seeing if they can use English or if long shots, off the rail, whatever frustrations them. Also if they don't deal with a problem ball soon then I know I want to let them get ahead in ball count and have to deal with it. I call it douchebag pool
Do you break with the same stick you use to play, I have noticed my shaft is warped and I don’t know what else to do or use I want anything give me some info on that
I use a different cue. I have a separate break with a hard tip and a playing cue with a medium tip. If you break hard, it’s a good idea to have a separate cue. Another solution is to just break with a house cue if you’re at a pool hall. I did that for a long time. Make sure you are storing your cue upright in a cool place. That probably has more to do with the warping than the breaking does.
Yes good points! One thing to add is that if you break hard, the shaft will bend so that can add to the warping. Most definitely look into a break cue. Check out www.nielsfeijen.shop 😀💪👍
Just had a tourney 8 ball last week and my opponent was a very slow player. And I found my eyes and mind wondering around to the other matches going on and not staying focused on my match. Then I get up to shoot and the ball skids and missed by a mile. Now frustrated and the slow play ugh it was killing me. I will try these exercises in the future to stay focused. Thanks Neil!
This is great Niels, thanks so much! How do you prepare the night before a big game? I often find I'm too nervous or excited and can't sleep well, which means I'm tired and don't perform well on the day. Do you follow a routine or are you one of those lucky people that can sleep any time?
Hi Mark, interesting question! I think the more events you play, the more you get used to it, but some nights are more intense than others. Realize that it's because you care a lot so it's a positive thing. That being said, my sleeping routines are that I like to read a book, no more digital activities and then I get nice and tired for a good night's rest. Have a look at the Mental Foundation Chapter and the Pre Match Prep Chapter at www.terminator-college.com I cover the power of sleep in depth and also match preparation. Good luck!💪😀
Tho I’m a snooker player, there are some interesting tips I might start using, as I become really frustrated at times at my own bad play and sometimes the other players luck, and tho I know it’s having a bad affect on my game the anger and annoyance inside me leads to project this frustration in my body language
