This is the mall that shut down near my house, and honestly it’s such an honor that Generation Loss was filmed there. That mall was literally my childhood :))
Watching Vinny do some light urban exploration, I figured I'd leave some tips here in case he or anyone else decides to do some more. 1. Do research first. Both on exploring and the place you're going to go. Make sure it wasn't closed due to some major health concern, or that it's actually not abandoned at all. 2. Try to never go alone, and certainly never go without someone knowing where you are. People don't keep abandoned buildings up to code, and you never know when the floor or ceiling might give out. Not to mention you can never know who or what you might run into. 3. Pack some supplies. I recommend gloves, boots or solid shoes, a breathing mask of some sort, and a pack with some water, snacks, and a basic first aid kit. Plus some form of self defense, like pepper spray. 4. Don't be a vandal. First off destroying things could end up weaking the building's integrity, but also it's rude and ruins the fun for everyone else. The owners of the building might hire security, or maybe the community comes together to pass laws with strict consequences for anyone exploring. Urban exploration is already in a weird grey area, don't give it's detractors more fuel to fight it. Treat it like you're at a local park, leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but pictures. 5. Have fun.
6. Don't park your vehicle close to your exploration. Not only does it make it more obvious somebody might be there, it also greatly complicates escape if you're caught by security. 7. Depending on the location, you'll probably run into homeless individuals. They're mostly pretty chill, but it's always good to be prepared to de-escalate and leave if necessary. To sum up #4, "Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footsteps, break nothing but silence." Essentially the same thing you said, but it's a nice concise mantra. Regarding self defense, this one is a bit iffy. Definitely do not bring a firearm. Even knives are somewhat marginal. Pepper spray you're probably okay with.
@@MrWolfSnack What's the point if this giant building is just gonna stand there, empty, for 30 years anyways? Those demolition plans often fall through
