- What started out as my innocent reaction to a "Jesus Commercial" during the Super Bowl led me down a rabbit hole of money, deception, and questionable ethics. Who really is the target audience 'He Gets Us' is actually trying to appeal to? Or, is the real goal to encourage conversations on both "sides" of American Christianity? #hegetsus #superbowlads #christiannationalism

Thanks for sharing this Shawn. I don’t watch much tv and didn’t see this commercial. The symbolism of the humility, the selflessness, and the love of Jesus is what I see.
I totally did not even watch the e Super Bowl but when I heard there was a “Jesus Commercial” my curiosity was peaked. ❤️
The two older men sharing the foot bath was powerful to me too. It reminded me of when Mr. Rogers shared the kiddie pool with Officer Clemmons. I remember watching that with my dad and him telling me how some white people would throw chemicals and urinate on his brothers and cousins when they went to the local swimming pool in the summer.

Thank you for highlighting the relationship part necessary in evangelism. That word, "evangelism", has been given such a negative connotation in our culture, and rightfully so, but is more appropriately understood as a single word for the Great Commission. Christ followers/believers/disciples/christians (yes, I struggle with using that one because of culture, as well) ARE CALLED to share what Jesus has done for them through the means of real relationship with our neighbors (the other, the marginalized, the perceived enemies)
