“Plumbers tape” in a properly tightened fighting will work every single day of the week. I have nothing bad to say about shark bites, but ptfe tape(plumbers tape/teflon tape) on the threads has been used for decades for a reason, because it works when tightened properly…

I usually do 3-4 wraps of plumbers tape (teflon). The threads themselves don’t seal, you need to tape to create a good seal. You balled out though! Good job.

Almost right. The threads create the seal the tape helps threads go deeper. You know teflon is actually really slick allowing threads to seat deeper creating the seal.

The way you accidentally applied the tape in the right direction 😂. Love it nice fix for DIY 👌

Good job! Its such a great feeling when you fix a serious problem with your own two hands

plumbers tape is teflon, it is hydrophobic and will help prevent leaks, a good pipe thread sealant that also has ptfe (teflon) is a good added security

You are a plumbers DREAM!! You make “fun” little projects out of things that can COMPLETELY DESTROY your home and don’t take them very seriously! Better have a plumber, drywall guy, carpenter on speed dial!

Plumber here, good and fast action with shark bites. Sharks should ONLY be temporary as in less than a few months, then it should be properly rebuilt to code by a plumbing technician. The tape should be removed and redone, 3-4 wraps is the standard and it’ll last!

Plumbers tape is always a good choice. It helps get a better seal to prevent leaks. I’m not a plumber but I’ve always done diy with my dad and whenever we didn’t use tape things like shower heads and dishwashers would leak after a couple years

Great job with the tape! You can wrapped it the correct direction. The only down fall to shark bite like products is whats know as a water hammer. Basically when the city turns the water off and it drains the system. When they turn it back on it slams full speed into the shut valve and jerks the whole plumbing system(You've probably felt it when youve turned the water off super fast!). If you're down for a bit more DIY for next time, check put PVC primer and glue!

It’s been brought to my attention that I really need to switch all my house plumbing to pvc 😅 I can practice with glue on that project! Cause that many shark bites would be crazy expensive

I just want to say to anyone wanting to try evo-shark bite fittings. Don’t. You can’t take them off like a regular shark bite. Take it from a pro. They are junk!

@@Evo_girl_xit's more than enough. The tape is to fill any imperfections in the threads between the elbow and the valve body. I would definitely recommend looking into PVC primer and glue for future endeavors. It's honestly just as easy as the shark bites if you have any experience using a glue stick!
