The guy that plays JW Booth is great. Also some people don’t know it but when Byck mentions “Tonight” and “America“ he is alluding to the fact that Mr. Sondheim wrote the lyrics to West Side Story.
1995....when the show was on Broadway in 91 and this production has a black Proprietor and Booth!!??!... super progressive and inventive. Even though the whole Booth being black situation nullifies the point of his role, I'm surprised by the comfort in casting.
In the Broadway show's case, I think the casting decision is a way to jab at Booth, he was a fading actor and a racist, if he was alive, seeing a black actor depict him as a foolish villain in one of the the most respected theatres in the country would make him feel awful, which he deserves.
There are some great performances in this! Especially from Booth, Guiteau, and Byck. The ensemble was great too! I always feel a little defensive if the audience laughs too much at "Unworthy of Your Love"...
I seen a comment complaining about the casting of Booth, I think he was amazing. He might not have fit the common mold for the role, but he played it beautifully
Actually a pretty good job; this musical is incredibly difficult, as is the case with all things Sondheim. I enjoyed this production very much, and say that as a big fan of the original show. missed the proprietor, though; that girl at the beginning was great, but disappeared...
Feb 23, 1995 issue of JMU student newspaper lists the JW Booth character as being played by Chipper Stanley Cooke. The internet indicates Mr Cooke has subsequently spent much time working in the music business over the years, based out of Barcelona, Spain and Virginia Beach, Va.
The play as Sondheim wrote it is incredibly naive, but the casting here was phenomenol. I hope the cast stayed in the theater, I was so impressed with your talent and beautiful voices, all of you are exceptional.
Simply wonderful, but goddamn is that woman in the audience the most annoying woman ever. She's like, only howling during the more serious segments. Unworthy Of Your Love is probably the worst case of this. But even so, the whole cast did so amazingly with the material.
Andie Benzedrine That song wasn’t in the original production...it was added later, and wasn’t reflected in the licensed version when this production was done.
A black guy playing JWB would’ve pissed Booth off immensely...I’m all for this casting

This is late but moreover he's addressing Leonard Bernstein, who did the music for West Side Story.
This is a brilliant production, the actors really manage to bring their characters to life. Very talented cast!

Booth was definitely miscast

I agree.
Catdog550 He has a very nice baritone voice.
I love his voice
The guy was head and shoulders
The Proprietor slayed
Very talented group of young adults! I especially like your Proprietor/Gun sales person! I hope everyone has gone on to great things!
1:16:17, I caught that hamburger! Not exactly a pop fly at Yankee Stadium, but a great memory nonetheless. That was a talented Santa.
I really like the Guiteau in this production. His energy is incredible
the balladeer does an amazing job
Byck’s 2nd monologue gave me chills. Fabulous job!!
Thanks! Had not seen this show before. Your cast did a very good job!

Dude thx for this
simply excellent lyrics.
1:18:15 WHY DID THEY HAVE HIM STAND UP AND START WALKING AROUND HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE IN A CAR
Dude, what’s wrong with this audience?
Simply wonderful, but goddamn is that woman in the audience the most annoying woman ever. She's like, only howling during the more serious segments. Unworthy Of Your Love is probably the worst case of this. But even so, the whole cast did so amazingly with the material.
wow christian bale makes a great czolgosz here
anyone know of any places where i could get access to all the instrumentals of Assassins by Stephen Sondheim?
MTI if you license the show properly
did “something just broke” get cut???
Andie Benzedrine That song wasn’t in the original production...it was added later, and wasn’t reflected in the licensed version when this production was done.
Ah I didn’t realize how old this was. Thanks!!
Someone needs to tell that lady Assassins is not a comedy
I mean, it's kinda a black comedy at times.
Well, it is supposed to be funny at some moments, but the laughs during ,,Unworthy of Your Love" for example are just not okay
why is the balladeer just a normal guy

You can spell Frydrychowski and you can't spell Stephen?
