The Runways sabotaged themselves.
So 99% of other bands and musicians have nothing but good things to say about the guys in Rush and we got one D-list act that has a gripe, hmmm. Forgive me if I don't change or rethink my opinion on Rush being AWESOME in EVERY way cuz the Runaways got their panties in a bunch once upon a time.
Rush has a 100% consistent record with every other band. But hey... this ONE time they were trying to sabotage another band. So stupid.

Rush & the Runaways in the same sentence...😂...I went to highschool with Jackie Fuchs...and took guitar lessons from the same teacher...she used to show up to her guitar lessons in a limo...I kid you not !...she hardly could play...and this is after their first album...she was kinda hot though...I'll say that...!

The first Runaways record was the first album I ever had thanks to my parents splitting up because my Dad left some of his records behind. It's still in my top favorite albums. So is 2112. Killer stuff!!

I know Alex already had a kid as a teenager, but maybe geddy and Neal teased them like a little boy would tease a pretty girl. Maybe they were so dorky they didn't know how to express how they liked litas big knockers ant other way but to tease them.

I would blame the weed but Rush didn't smoke before shows, so my guess is that in 1977, RUSH were probably trying to be leaders in the prank department on tour and the Runaways didn't like it so Geddy probably had an attitude because the Runaways had an attitude. Surprised Geddy didn't refer to this nor the EVH incident in his book.
What??? Dude. Read Geddy's book. They partook before, during AND after. Neil's drum solo spot was when Geddy would fill his ample beak with cocaine all throughout the 70s and 80s.

The Runaways were great, I saw them twice at CBGBs in the late 70s the original lineup and then the second with Joan on lead vocals. they rocked hard!
I saw an hour long grainy concert video of them in Japan 1977, and they rocked. "Neon Angels on the Road to Ruin" especially rocked.
Runaways were a gimmick, nothing more.
I too saw Joan Jett open for the Who in 1982- Tangerine Bowl, Orlando. I know you’re from Florida also Ralph. Was that the show you saw? Remember who were the act before Joan Jett? Oh boy, it didn’t go well for them.

Definitely not a fan of the runaways, but they were a definite part of the landscape back then and the members ( at least a few ) went on to do other even bigger things. Rush is an all time favorite but I agree that they put out some stinkers. Lol😊

I never could get into Rush that much.They are technically great musicians but I prefer bands like Kansas,Toto,the first 2 Angel albums - Angel, & Helluva Band grabbed me a lot more than the Rush 2112 album. I think Geddy Lee might have been a bit jealous over the Runaways,not in a musical sense but the put down by him on an all female girl band was probably Rush being negatively sexist at the time

Wow, I always thought my fellow country men had more class than that, as that's pretty shitty to do that to The Runaways, who I also thought were a fun band to listen to, plus they were young back then. Rush was my first concert back in 75 or 76 when I was just 10 or 11 and they ROCKED with Moxy, another Canadian band who opened for them. Once Rush started to get more techno and got away from songs like Fly By Night, In The Mood, Anthem and Working Man, my interest in them faded, but still loved some of the later songs. This Canadian still likes April Wine, B.T.O and Triumph better than Rush, but not by much, as they're my 4 favorites, as Rush slips a little now, because of how they treated the Runaways. Joan Jett and Lita Ford went on to having great careers, so Geddy Lee saying they were shitty was shitty and classless.

Please don't put the Runaways on a level with the Sex Pistols. And "Never mind the Bollocks...." is one THE Greatest albums, but the Pistols Live were a disaster kinda like the Runaways.

Yeah, I tried to get into Rush, deep-dived on them in 2020...just not my thing. I can tell they are highly skilled, but I like my rock n roll sexy, gritty, groovy, and sweaty.

Sorry, but the Runaways were virtually forgotten till younger people started downloaded their music 15 or so years ago. They were atrocious live and that's probably why Rush was laughing.

My opinion is unpopular but I'd give ten bands like Rush for one band like The Runaways. Nowadays, every second kid on RUclips can play progressive bullshit but finding one single REAL and RAW rock band is a mission impossible.

Currie never amounted to anything so she can now run down Rush for a prank and blame her worthless existence on them. Lita didn't have one good song, only Ozzy throwing her a bone with that duet paid her bills. Joan Jett is cool. Rush is worth 10 billion Runaways.
