I love how PragerU says things like “men gave women the right to vote” or “The West (white people) freed the slaves” without realizing that that implies that those groups took those rights away in the first place.
What’s your point? people have been assholes to other people since the beginning of mankind. Prageru is well aware of what white people did or what men have done, no one denies it, or at least the majority of people. Why do people feel the need to only point fingers at white men, everybody has skeletons in their closets.
@@D91Mart because Prager does exactly the opposite extreme, they don’t say it’s wrong to single out white men because it silly to only focus on one group, they instead imply it’s wrong to single out white men because they *are* the most virtuous gender/race. I’m about 10 minutes in as of posting this, and I’m still unable to move past “Men gave women the right to vote.” Imagine denying someone their rights for 150 years, then patting yourself on the back for giving them what should have always been theirs.
Fact: "Men DID give women the right to vote". The way you libtards try to spin and manipulate language to make a point is ridiculous. It's because you have no point. Women weren't denied their right to vote because they didn't have that right. Men founded this country, built it, created the government, served in the military to defend it, and they run it. It would not exist without men. There was no reason for women to vote. The head of the household determined what was best for his family. The idea that women should just be given that right without the same sacrifices men have given is nonsense, and was an issue understood back then. There were even woman at that time that thought giving women the right to vote was a bad idea and not deserved. This world wasn't always the emasculated liberal cesspool it is now.

And men withheld the right to vote from women in the first place - it wasn’t a gift kindly bestowed upon them, it’s their right as citizens of which they were deprived, ya know?
The reason why a lot of men (& people in general) don’t show too much emotion is because if they reveal their feelings to their counterparts those feelings & insecurities can be used against them. This can happen with women too.
@@DanielOrtiz-ym2sl the guy you’re responding to is a nut and a prick, and he’s obviously pushing his stupid link, but yeah Shaun does have a consistent left leaning bias that comes up constantly, and paired with his erudite delivery it’s a recipe for instances of sophistry. He’s very smart and argues well, but the biases and omissions and willful misinterpretations are there. For example, he’s talking about the wage gap as I type this - he astutely points out the hypocrisy in PragerU’s stupid presentation, but in the end actually makes no argument to refute the fact that the wage gap does not exist as it is popularly believed to exist. Prager U was essentially correct about it - contrary to the sound byte public figures are obligated to repeat, women are almost never paid less than men for the same work, and this has been uncontroversially clear for decades at this point. How much ‘choice’ people really have in their career/in general is a whole topic, but yes, women ‘choose’ less lucrative professions, work less hours and less years, and leave the workforce at a higher rate than men. Certainly gender roles and expectations are a factor, but there are two sides to this, where men suffer from pressures women don’t, and women suffer from challenges men don’t. But there is no reason to generally pin women’s less lucrative career choices on oppression or discouragement - women benefit from quotas, access to scholarships, and earmarked positions, and are greatly encouraged and facilitated in any field in which they’re underrepresented (STEM especially). The most parsimonious explanation by far is that women simply do not prefer to enter STEM or other high pressure, high paying professions. But the takeaway you get from this video is basically that arguments against the wage gap are inherently flawed, and it’s left at that. Prager U is just like anything else on the right - it’s a stopped clock, broken and almost always wrong, but correct when it happens to address one of the legitimate blind spots/flaws of the left. The wage gap thing is just one tiny example - he always lines up on the left re: any controversial topic, argues it well, but notably omits key information and emphasizes only what serves his point. In the Bell Cuve video for instance he does mental backflips to try and discredit IQ tests, painting IQ as some meaningless nebulous concept that only serves itself, rather than the extremely well validated and strongly predictive measure it is in reality. The conclusion that IQ is likely at least partly heritable couldn’t be less of a down-the-middle, likely, unavoidably obvious assumption, and Murray’s motivations were plainly not racist. But you wouldn’t get that from Shaun’s video, what you get is an assertion that it’s basically Nazi propaganda that only immoral idiots could ever entertain. Etc etc.
+Arya And also the fact that they just brush it off, afterwards. Since there is a gap, because of “choice”, why are women making these choices? If we can close the gaps by fixing societal bias, then we should!
Also gotta love them for putting 6.6 next to 77. Are they trying to make the point that women get paid just 0.066 cents for every 1 dollar a man makes? I'm confused.
Women earn 6.6% less than men because they choose to go into lower earning careers. Okay now let me mentally shift gears here for a second. Women shouldn't go into high earning careers those are the domain of men, they should stay in traditional feminine jobs like nurse, teacher, or housewife. The 77 cent figure comes from an aggregate of taking all full time jobs women do and adding all those wages vs all full time jobs men do and adding all those wages. Since more women than men work part time and part time earnings are not included this lowers the bucket for total women earnings. More men work overtime than women which is full time pay still and thus the men's bucket gets larger. You then have women dropping out of the workforce to have children and return a decade or so later. This puts less in the women's bucket. These earnings are counted over several decades of work. It is like the misconception of if the Black population is 15% overall then every job should have 15% black employees but this is not how percentages work. Some have turned them into absolutes.

One time, in my family group chat (horrible, I know), my older brother shared a PragerU video. It was about the 'decline of masculinity' or something. My other older brother responded with something like "glad to see you're on the good side" to him (implying that the video is good). I wrote out a whole 3 paragraph response outlining how bad PragerU is, and how none of the men in our family are "manly" at all. The idea that my two older brothers could even consider themselves "manly" was hilarious to me. These are two men who overreact all the time, are impatient, easily offended, aren't really "leaders", aren't "strong", etc. (I'm not implying that I'm those things either, but the implication that they had these ultimate masculine qualities was amusing). 26:11 As an actual classical musician, I honestly find this graph insulting. Not only does it imply that the average artist/writer/musician/whatever now is less talented than they were in the past (which they aren't) it also implies people have lowered the qualifications needed to hire/commission/admit an artist/musician/whatthefuckever (which they haven't). When I've talked to my professors, they all mention that the '60s and '70s, which this graph points to standards flatlining at the bottom, were when musical standards were incredibly *high* in order to get through university-- and not because they had to learn older music, but because they had to learn and analyze the newer modernist and postmodernist music prevalent from the 1920s-50s, which often didn't conform to any techniques created during the Common Practice Period. Now, due to the arrival of digital distribution, art hosting websites, and streaming services, artists have more opportunity than they *have ever had* to improve their skills, experiment, broaden their horizons, and inject their abilities into the market. The reality is that it isn't newer artists who create new art who lower standards: it's people who demand that we only appreciate the classics without considering newer art (like a certain propaganda channel pretending to be an institution of education) who lower the standards by encouraging people not to innovate or express themselves creatively. I would also like to point out that according to PragerUrine, the peak of "artistic standards" is also around 1850-70, when notorious antisemite and racist Richard Wagner composed the bulk of his most famous works. Coincidence? Probably.
I actually looked up that video earlier because I came across that graph. The guy, Robert Florczak, comes off as an absolutely pretentious elitist, who rails on "modern art" because it's not "pretty". Instead of focusing on the "pretty", it focuses on personal expression in the form of something he calls "artistic relativism". The idea that women should just be given that right without the same sacrifices men have given is nonsense, and was an issue understood back then. There were even woman at that time that thought giving women the right to vote was a bad idea and not deserved. This world wasn't always the emasculated liberal cesspool it is now.

Etc etc.
I like how PragerU cited that the wage gap is 6.6% after accounting for "choice" but then immediately said that the 6.6% is because of "choice".
+Arya And also the fact that they just brush it off, afterwards. Since there is a gap, because of “choice”, why are women making these choices? If we can close the gaps by fixing societal bias, then we should!
Because one cannot say the 6.6% is specifically due to just discrimination. Plus the 77 cents has always been misrepresented in how it was derived.
There we go thanks to the magic of cognitive dissonance I don't see a problem with this.
@@KoningFelix1 Another issue is that this is not all women at every job.

As an actual classical musician, I honestly find this graph insulting.
