Dude I've been watching this channel all night tonight. Already spent like 100 bucks picking up some cheap Japanese versions of games thanks to you some that I never heard of. Thank you. Your love for the Saturn is awesome!
Good, you always offer consumers the fair chance, on how and where to obtain a fair priced copy of good games, A famous thinker / philosopher once stated, we are as free as the number of options we own. So if you offer options, freedom crawls around the corner, specially for our pockets. "THANKS"
I was a teenager in the ‘90s and had an N64 (after the success of the NES and SNES, I figured Nintendo could do no wrong. Smh...) and missed out on all the great games on the PS1 and Saturn. I was also not into JRPG’s yet at that time. First-person shooters like “Doom” and “Goldeneye” being more my thing then. A friend got me into JRPG’s when I started college and then I went back and started to play a lot of the great titles I had missed on the PS1. The Saturn I knew very little about. I mainly remembered how it had the best ports of the Capcom 2-D fighters at the time and my one friend that had the system in high school, that was all we would play. But thanks to channels like Sega Lord X’s, I’ve bern able to discover a ton of amazing Sega games I missed out on the Genesis and Saturn! The Saturn especially has earned a special place in my heart and I wish I had gotten the system back when it was out. So many amazing titles that many people in America still aren’t aware of due to the Saturn not being as popular as the PS1 and N64 and many of its titles never being ported or re-released on any other system. Some of my all-time favorite JRPG’s are Saturn games like “Dragon Force”, Shining the Holy Ark”, and all three scenarios of “Shining Force III”.
This is a good collection of Saturn games. They're all good in my book. Mass Destruction and Mega Man X4 are my favorites, and I have a certain affection for Nekketsu Oyako. Pu-Li-Ru-La is just demented and worth playing through once. Black Dawn holds up very well and if you're a fan of combat flight games, you'll have a great time. Chase HQ/SCI probably will appeal only to those who played the arcade games many years ago, but there's no denying the joys in another early '90s arcade game in my software library. The MSX compilation is nice but way too expensive.
Watching these vids makes me miss my childhood! The fact that these games and consoles from back in the day were actually great! Not half finished games rushed to market so they can rape gamers with Loot Boxes and Micro-transactions makes them BETTER than ANYTHING today's "AAA" studios have released in YEARS!
Have been enjoying your videos. I'm also a big Sega fan. I would like to suggest however, when you comment on how good the music is for a game, that perhaps you play just a little clip of it? I know it kind of plays in the background while you talk about it but, would be nice.
great channel, really loving the surge in sega saturn content lately on youtube. also... can somebody plz tell me what that music is playing in the background while he does his intro. I know I recognize it but can't remember what game it's from lol
How is it that games like Skeleton Warriors had transparency but I constantly see complaints about how the Saturn couldn't do transparencies? Is it that Saturn couldn't handle transparent textures, or something else I'm missing?
12:35 Who TF thought it was a good idea to keep the numbers on top of the ball like that while they're supposed to be rolling?? Looks ridiculous! An air hockey table played liked billiards could be pretty cool tho lol
Had to immediately stop the video and search for Nekketso Oyako/hot blooded family. That's exactly my kinda game right there but at over the £$200 mark it's one for "other" means of playing it.
@@SegaLordX Yeah and it barely taxes the rest of the system. That doesn't mean it's not a fun game, of course. But I'm always shocked when Saturn games barely use one of the biggest performance boosters, when it's an obvious perfect scenario for it.
Sorry, but Mega Man 8 was NOT a port. Both it and the PS1 game were developed at the same time. Sony pushed for the game to launch 1 month early on their machine for the holiday shopping rush. The Saturn version however came out the next month (January) complete with all of the intended content intact, not to mention both visual and aural superiority making it the quintessential version of Mega Man 8👍
Honesty thought I was the only Saturn fan left untill I found segalordX and his subscribers, just F'n great
We are out there, and we are proud. ;)
In the voice of General Zod from Man of Steel: "You are NOT alone!" 😆
@@rickhoes6326 I feel like the sonn of jor'el kneeling before Zod
Love these Saturn episodes, very helpful buyers guide. I find the mention of playability in different regions extremely helpful
I am on a
Sega Lord X binge :)
I’ve subbed too youfor a while now, wondered what you looked like lol… ;) made me binge watch and look up older vids…

Glad I could help. Saturn still has some decent cheaper games. It's not all $400 shoot'em ups.

Mega Man 8 makes me wonder what a 2D Sonic on the Saturn would have been like.
Sonic Mania..
yes sega really dropped the ball for sonic on the Saturn
Sonic CD could've been expanded and ported over.

Agreed! One of my favorites also!

I actually try and do that in my newer videos. This one here is an early effort.
I'd never heard of that Technosoft BTU, thanks!

Skeleton Warriors, Pu-Li-Ru-La and Mass Destruction seem to be the best here.
Anyone else watching all of the videos in this series in order to fill up their MODE Hard Drives or SD Cards?

SOR2 end credits.
Also ...BOXING SQUIDS!?!?!?

Black Dawn port didn't bother much with VDP2, eh?
I think it uses it for the transparent HUD overlay. Certainly nothing in the rendering engine itself.

Can you type the Japanese beat em up game so i can find it ?
What do you think of mega man x3 port for the saturn?
Sloppy. The border and the 16-bit graphics kinda of cheapen the experience. It could have been so much better.
I'm gonna do a full run of House of the Dead then burn a couple of these up to play with my girlfriend
6:52 🤣
What happened to this series?!?
It was a series on my old channel. When this new one here started, I changed the format a bit.
Chase HQ has swastikas in the bottom left corner of the screen.
