Only a Cosplayer can control the power of the great foam!
~ A Random Cosplayer Might Say This.
and then there is carbon fiber and 200 pound bows:)
As a wannabe prop maker I love seeing stuff like this makes me want to push myself and make more challenging stuff
i thought this was going to be a reforged episode. It would have been soooo cool to see a real bow
Stay tuned ;)
Pleaasee make a weapon from RWBY pleeaaseee??? Like Wiess' rapier seems easy to do
Fayin Kayz no dude
Fayin Kayz no rwby weapons....
Crono trigger why not? i'm guessing you don't like RWBY?
The guys from Man at Arms should do this one as well!
The quality of the projects on this show just keep getting better and better
Just because it's cheap to make, doesn't mean it has to look cheap
McMeatBag That means a lot, thank you. What you just described is the constant balance we're always trying to achieve on the show - of making something simple that looks good while also being inexpensive. There will always be stronger materials or fancier tools that we could use, but to us it's more important that you are able to try some intro level crafting just to get started. And once you get the bug for making things...it only gets better from there.
It's also very appreciated to know that you actually take the time to read and respond to comments. I'm sure you get a bajillion of them
McMeatBag Absolutey. Especially if we're all out here trying to learn and get better, we've got to keep the communication lines open. I always make a few passes through the comments, and check back later in time to see if new questions came up. I might not get to everything, but I'll always try.
I live in France and this type of foam does not exist in "street market" and it cost a lot of money.
feel my pain pls
Order online. You may also use EVA foam but you'll have to layer it.
+Yadel Frost online its the same price, else from France or shipping price.
Cross McPenna bonsoir
Cross McPenna same here in Indonesia
Try to get it in Germany - it's called _"PUR-Matte"_ (Polyurethane mat) here. The price for a 10x100x150cm-mat is about 35,-€: www.ebay.de/itm/Grevinga-PUR-Schaumstoff-in-ver-ca-Groessen-Staerken-RG-35-Schaumstoffplatte-/381242312088
"Some pretty dank fumes"
- Vinny 2016
Mute Massacre *uses respirator later in video*
Lol I meant he could have used it then
That first PVC pipe section was actually a counter balance for the bow.
My dragonblade.
Genji nice deflect skill
Genji Yes
sure :D
:D
Too easy
I dont even play Overwatch. Just hear to hang out with Vinny
This is prolly one of your best builds to date brother! Awesome! Much love from the philippines!
Much appreciated man.
you think you can make a deagle from CSGO?
Lol I was expecting it to be metal made but this is still awesome though :D
No thermoplastic?! Who is this man, and what has he done with Vinny?
I'm having withdrawals like woah
hey Vinny if you really respond to your comments you will respond to this one where is Dylan Thomas we haven't seen her since she made the dragon egg and here is another good idea you should make three episodes with guest star Dustin McLean with you Odin and Dylan if she is still there and if Dustin will come back and maybe make an episode with all of you including Evil Ted and Elizabeth rage please
That would be very cool, but both Dustin and Dylan are on to new adventures. Maybe someday we'll get to do an episode with multiple hosts? Who knows!
Thanks! Dylan and Dustin are working on their own projects but have you checked out Odin, Vinny and Evil Ted's episodes? Also, Elizabeth Rage is working with Hendo Art, have you seen any of her episodes?
AWE me hey i think you should make a chat noir pole it's in the tv show of miraculous ladybug
The nock is the point were the string is attached to on each limb and the arrows nock is the gap at its end were it is attached to the string, nice build. Well done
Actually, the part where you used PVC tubing where you said "the dragons come out of" and "where the tracker is" in real life actually serves as a dampener for when you shoot an arrow. Apparently it helps keep the bow steady when shooting it. I've played very little Overwatch though and pay very little attention to detail so that piece may actually serve a different purpose in-game though so pardon me if I'm wrong. Other than that, It's a great build! Very nicely proportioned :)
Thank you, and great info!
A.K.A. the counter weight
Iron Grizzly Props A.K.A the Stabiliser
More a stabilizer and damper, not at all a counter weight. In fact, longer and heavier stabilizers cause the bow to pitch forward in your hand, and if severe enough, can actually make you inaccurate due to poor followthrough. Olympic stabilizers can be up to 27 inches long, and throws off the balance enough that it needs rear stabilizers to offset the pitching torque.
-Sincerely, real target archer-
Michael J. Caboose Archery is fun
Vinny's a Hanzo main now
Zens ball, hanzos bow.... I smell Dragonblade coming soon
Diego Ayala He knows they did Zenyatta's balls
Dragon blade dragon blade !!!
Ikr haha theres also a mc cree pistol
Zens balls.......like if you got it
They already made the dragonblade on man at arms reforged
Vinny and Odin should have a build-off. One huge build that requires a lot of different techniques and a limited time to complete.
Do the nightingale blade guys, from Skyrim!! Celebrate the remastered edition!
I wish all DIY videos were this honest with tips and mistakes made. Well done! Keep it up, Vinny!
Lisl .IssieAngela I appreciate that. What you're seeing is me pretty much learning to make it as I go. Each one of these episodes is the first time I've ever made something like it, so you get all mistakes included. But hey, that's real life though!
No thermoplastic? Don't spaz out on us, Vinny
Vinny likes to switch it up sometimes!
Jesse Carman no weathering?
do genji
Jesse Carman plz plz plz do genji
He's got like, thermofoam, I guess.
This guy is definitely my favorite prop maker
Wait, how did you know I was pondering about cosplaying as Hanzo? =O
I think adding Vinny to the prop shop team as the best choice ever! Great Job!
i hope you consider making genjis sword or even his shurikens. This was pretty awesome to watch
That was some impressive foam carving! Nicely done.
P.S.
The pipe-looking thing on the bottom of the bow is actually a weight that helps counter-balance it when you fire, since (if you're holding everything correctly) the top section of the bow will have a tendency to swing/shift when you release the string. You see these weights a lot on the bows of Olympic archers and other competitive archers.
Heey. I see you finally did something with Overwatch, just as I recommended for a month or so ago. :D
We listen!
You do indeed. :)
AWE me can you pls do Genji's sword pls :D
Walocial 0
Alex O'Donovan uhm?
Vinny is by far my favorite of the hosts.
Made a Overwatch Genji's sword!!
More likely to happen if you comment on a Man At Arms video
actually it would be more likely to be made as a prop considering the look of it... Also a prop could have the effects included like the glowing edge
히로빈엔더 GENJEH!
that would more for man at arms right?
tawess imo not rly, since it's an actual metal katana and can be made like one and they can add the neon green effect to the sword (I know they added green to swords before just can't remember how)
The "tracker" you talked about is actually a stabilizer used to improve accuracy.
Vinny, you look strikingly similar to Oswald Cobblepot from TellTale's rendition of Batman. Just a bit bulkier.
Man and I thought nobody is this great at making stuff until I found these guys! Keep Up The Great Work!
It should be on man at arms !
That bow is gorgeous.
3:27
"You arr not the first girfriend sent to distract me.... and you wir not be the rast..."
Thanks for the encouragement, Vinny. That was sweet.
ancient egyptian kopesh sword would be sick
Antonio Coolio yas
especially bronze or copper but bronze would be more appropriate for the period
FINALLY SOMETHING OVERWATCH IN AWE ME!! been waiting for this moment since overwatch came out :D
He almost said Dank memes at 2:13
Haha
Everyone has some kind of criticism for him and everything like oh this is wrong with it that is wrong with it. But what I really appreciated the most was that message at the end. It was really great advice and he just came of so genuine and earnest and it just really hit home for me. "Just stick to it and you can build anything." He hit me with that just as I was thinking wow I could never do something like that. Thank you dude. You're the best.
raul centeno Hey that means a lot to hear. And I really did mean it. There will always, always be critics for your work, but I've found the only thing that really matters is - Did you try something new today? Did you do your best? Did you have some fun? That's always a good day in my book - regardless of how the prop turned out! Keep on building my friend.
Could you please make Pyrrha's aspis shield and spear from RWBY?
Finally They Get to Overwatch and its vinney who makes it even better
Hey it'd be really cool if you could make a diy genji throwing stars
there is a russian guy who did it already
oh really lol thanks
GorillaGuy10 they’re called shurikens
Great job on the build, does anyone know where I could get the templates he uses?
You should do an episode about how you built that Foam Wire Cutter.
Darthgaul We considered it! But there's actually a great tutorial on RUclips from Make Magazine, where the plans came from. Check it out if you're interested in making one!
Cool thanks
my boy Rooster back at it again with a hype build
Why use the modpodge if you were going to go over it with plastidip anyway?
lern2swim Looked better in testing than plastidip only. It feels like the surface has a bit more protection.
Aerosols such as Plastidip will disintegrate extruded polystyrene, so to protect the closed cell foam from the aerosol that is plastidip with mod podge is to make sure the sealant doesn't destroy the foam. We used plastidip to give it another coat of sealant and to make it look like one piece
A nice addition would be the time it took to make the prop. Really cool bow ! :)
Cool build, now get man at arms to make Genji's katana.
who else thinks vinny should cosplay as Hanzo!? he would totally pull it off!
"Hanzo- at your service!"
Zoey StarLady "Simple geometry"
"Step, into the dojo"
Zeddersbee Ryuu ga waka teki WO KURAE!
OKAMI WO, OTEKI WO KURAE!
Zeddersbee See Through The Dragon's Eyes
The capsule on the front is a common form of weight which an archer adds to his bow for accuracy. The weight in front causes resistance against holding the bow, which in turn creates a steady weighted bow which can easily be maneuvered to keep good aim.
Professional as always Vinny. But what I realy want to know about this build, is that a DIY hot wire tool?
Kanzato Hiro look up The King of Ramdoms video. He shows you how to make one
The outcome was never in doubt!
Plssssssss make a video about the weapon of widomaker(Overwatch)
PLEASE!!!! :)
My boi Vinny. We like you mang, we like you.
Honestly, I prefer Genji's sword to Hanzo's bow, but whatever.
Edit: When working with insulation foam, where a mask. Stuff gets everywhere and it's really bad for you.
Damon Fyrian there are a lot of video on his sword built
TheMixedPrince I never said there wasn't, I just said I prefer the sword.
Damon Fyrian I never implied you didi was stating facts, the videos are good.
for some reason I love watching you craft! this prop was done so well and everything was so clean and done so well. good job!
Raise your hand if you play overwatch 🖐
Hello Etano 🖐️
The "pill bottle" in the bottom of the Handel is a staple of most modern bows and works as a counter Balance allowing more accurate shots
handsoap pls
Yessss!! Living for this! Such a great job, thank you. Hanzo's my favorite.
'Sick tats'
I like how they put diy on this because I can totally do this at home
nice hair
Vinny is the best.
Your arrow rest is on the wrong side
I'm glad someone noticed - about halfway through, I realized I had been making a left handed version of the bow (the joys of being ambidextrous!), yet holding it as a right handed bow. So I put that bracket on the side that left it open for the arrow to swoop in at. If you're making this - go ahead and put it however you like! It'll still look like Hanzo's bow.
no matter. in traditional japanese archery the arrow is on the right side of the bow.
you can use that as your excuse.
Actually right side arrow rest is practically better. You need less moves to put arrow in.
Nathaniel Davila It also depends on your eye dominance. You can have a dominant right hand, but your eye could be left side dominant. This means you have to fight the dominance and correct it or draw with the left arm. Not that that is the reason it was made like that. What works, just works archery is all self preference and style
becky d ok I'm right handed and -left eyed? So should the rest be on the right side of the bow or the left?
Great job vinny !!
4:25 it's a counterbalance...... Oh my God
Jesse Nealy actually called a stabilizer, but yeah, the archery's funky anyway. He's technically making a slingshot, not a bow.
Been waiting so so long
MAKE LUCIO'S SONIC AMPLIFIER!
Let's Drop the BBBBEAAAAATTTT
Vinny Logozio It's Time to Break it DOOOOWWWWWNNNN
Vinny Logozio OH LETS BREAK IT DOWN!!
Vinny Logozio how about you make genjis shuriken and I need to know what Material you used
1. A nock is the part of the arrow that "connects" it to the string, and isn't on the string it self
2. The bit hanging of the front of the bow is a stabiliser, it helps keep the archer's arm steady when shooting
3. You made the damn thing left-handed but at the end you're holding it as a right-handed person would
4. Recurve bows, such as this one, attach the strong by looping it around the ends of the limbs where small grooves have been cut/sanded in: c1.staticflickr.com/9/8014/7168554540_3c244c76f4_b.jpg
Other than that it's a great build, just as an archer these kind of annoyed me when watching lol. Keep up the good work!
Yo guys
Yo Dan
Yo vinny
hi vinny
Vinny Logozio sick bow, gj
I think the sword makers of this channel would do it best :)
(Lookin at you, Matt!)
that was an awesome build, it looks bad ass, though it would have been cool to see one that could function as well as a child's toy bow and arrow set so, you could have a little fun with it.
Do iron mans helmet
Yet another fantastic build! Love your work, Vinny.
he said dank xD
www.dictionary.com/browse/dank
i came here for the dank fumes
the "bottle shape" isn't the dragon box nor tracker but stabiliser, they are commonly used in archery :/ Anyway great build as always, You are the best host of DIY !!!
how to be an assassin
Assassin's Creed
this is the first video i watched from you and im already amazed!
Make a Pomson 6000 or the Cow Manger 5000 from tf2
Like if you agree and can see
Fun fact, the thing protruding from the bottom of the bow is a stabilizer. It adds weight to the bow to reduce shake while aiming.
Those fumes must be pretty dank.
Dude's hair is on point 😎
The pill bottle shape thing with the pvc pipe is Hanzo's tracker. The dragons come out of him because he is that dragon and those two dragon forms of him are halves of his spirit
Fantastic build!
As a Hanzo main, this delights me.
tbh i love vinny
I think you guys should do a prop segment for Mei's blaster, back tank, and snowball(her robot). I think if you guys figure out a easy way for her gun to be there while connected to the tank while having the tank hold a snowball that can go in and out of it... would be great. And very cool! Especially with lights for the iced liquid effect.
I was waiting for Vinny to yell "Ryuuga waga teki wo kurau!"
I've found that if you really want your silvers (or an metallic paints, really) to pop, try painting them onto a black basecoat. It's weird, but it's worked for me in the past.
Woow! Awesome build man! well i haven't played the game overwatch yet but this gave me an idea of how to make my Green Arrow Bow
Keep up the good work Vinny
awesome job Vinny!
you guys should make this a 2 part series and do Genji's sword and sheath next because of their past and being brothers and all!!!
Wow what an amazing build
the bottom "pill bottle" shape you described is a stabilizer. helps steady the bow for a more accurate shot.
Quick tip from an archer; String is usually placed at the limb tips making us of the flex in the "recurve" of the bow :)
Anyway, it's a prop and not shootable, nice job though :)
bj0rn_net Hanzo's bow is a little weird in that way - from the game close ups and reference images, it looks like the string is held on to the limbs from some little nub. But I do appreciate the input from an archer! I just got a Samick sage for my birthday.
Thanks for the tutorial! Will surely come in handy later on
stay on this show forever! you're good. also can you do a sword next doesn't matter cause they're pretty much the same. but I'm trying to make a Yasuo cosplay from league of legends
The bottle shape near the bottom middle of the bow you made out of the pvc is actually a stabilizer/ counter weight, I know this because I go arrow hunting
