    VERY thorough evaluation, even taking price into consideration. I think all-in-all, 1080p is a solid base for video these days. It seems a sweet spot for quality vs file size. Thank you for including the different 1080p modes in this comparison.
    IF the processing video processing issues you spoke of, are fixed with a firmware update, this seems like a great little camera at it's price point.
    BUT the audio quality and lack of external support shoves it into the "I'll pass" category for me.

    • @WORTHITORNOT
      @WORTHITORNOT  4 года назад +3

      Yeah I’m surprised they’re not offering the ability to add an external microphone but maybe they wanted to keep the camera water resistant as some people would use an external microphone in the rain.

    Got the 7le for my sin for Christmas. A very good camera indeed, for the budget price. It may not be as good as a gopro but boy is it good. The actual still frame camera is better than the gopro. You will not be disappointed by the 7le, for sure!

    Ok so first..love your videos. Never disappoint!! Always very in-depth and one thing people don't mention is that your videos are done in the same yard and street. This helps in many ways to compare different cameras...all types can't be done side by side. Hers my story. I shop quite a while before buying. I finally got my Akaso brave 7le ordered and it came with a foggy main lense and a scratched inner lens. Customer service answered quickly but know is been over a week since they received it. 18 days since I contacted customer service. Still no camera and now it's for sale $21 cheaper!! Very dissatisfied.

Just a brilliant camera that comes as standard with a plethora of mounting brackets, a fantastic waterproof case usable down to 130ft and a wrist watch style remote control. I really enjoyed this review and your short follow-up in the pool. It seems like this is an excellent action camera “for the money”. After watching several of your videos, I have become a subscriber and wish you the best. I really enjoy your well-though out approach as well as your honesty and integrity. You are trying to share your knowledge and experience and it is appreciated. I thought the Akaso Brave 7 LE would work for me, the I saw that Costco had a GoPro Hero 8 Black bundle with an extra battery, MicroSD card, etc for $280 that seemed like a very good deal for the “gold” standard in action cameras. I am an experienced amateur photographer who has 3 Lumix cameras with an assortment of lens, who recently retired so I have much more time for my photography hobby. Oh, I also enjoy aerial photography with my Spark drone. The more I looked at comparing the Akaso with the Hero 8, I discovered the DJI Osmo Action camera. I am currently leaning in that direction. (I had actually ordered the GoPro but was able to cancel prior to shipment as I had second thoughts.) I watched your video comparing the Hero 8 with the older GoPros and the DJI Osmo. I was wondering if you still had the Osmo and what your current thoughts were on it especially with updated firmware. (Ps. we’re almost neighbors as I live in Coppell.). Thanks again.

    • @WORTHITORNOT
      @WORTHITORNOT  4 года назад +1

      Hello and thanks for subscribing ! Interesting that you ask about the Osmo Action as over the past 2 firmware updates something changed with image quality, later today I’m going to do a factory reset on the Osmo Action and see if that improves the video image quality. Before these updates I would have easily given the edge to Osmo over the Hero 8. I’ll update after my testing

      @@WORTHITORNOT I've had my Akaso Brave 7 LE for about a week, taking mostly videos around my backyard and attaching it my bike and taking several rides in and around my city. Here are my thoughts:
      - It is much smaller than I expected, but very well-built. And, I really like the tripod screw.
      - The video quality is very good at all resolutions that I tried. I use mostly 4k and 1080p.
      - Image stabilization is good but not great. I might consider getting a DJI Osmo or GoPro 8 to compare, since I will probably use the action camera for bike riding or hiking.
      - The 20 MP image is very good.
      - The camera adjusts well to changes in light from bright sun to shadow and back.
      - The front facing screen seems to be nice to have, but is not that important to me as I am not a vlogger. However, when I am able to go on vacation again, I might want to try it. Also, I am terrible at taking selfies with my iPhone, and it was very, very easy to take a selfie with the Akaso.
      - Battery life is very good, plus it's great that Akaso provides two batteries, and the charger. Plus, you can charge the battery in the camera. But, the micro-usb connection from the computer to the camera is not a data connection, so you cannot transfer any files from the camera to the computer.
      - Although the wifi from the camera to an iPhone or iPad works well, it is very, very slow to transfer videos and photos.
      - Finally, it would be nice to have indicator lights on the top of the camera. When I have the camera mounted on my bike's handlebars, it's hard to know when I'm recording or not. While the wriststrap does work to start or stop recording or to take a photo, you are still not sure what you're doing unless you look at the screen at the back of the camera.
      - In summary, I think this is a very good action camera for the money, but it might not be the best one for me.

      I really think Akaso's game plan is to stay a budget action camera to those on a tight budget and attempt to offer something new (water resistant, dual screens) but sacrificing in other areas. Still a nice camera for the money IMO

    I am a fan of Akaso products as they give good value for money, so I can't be too disappointed with the shortcomings of the Brave 7LE. I was looking forward to this action camera when I found it was coming. However, I am going to stick with my Akaso Brave 6 Plus. The advantages of being water resistant, microphone being better and front facing camera on the Brave 7LE still isn't worth the upgrade. This is because the image stabilization is more important to me and is not solid enough on the Brave 7LE for the switch. I will wait on later models to buy a second camera.

    Texas eh? That explains the pool 😂 I have watched several reviewers on action cameras and you are the best IMO. Great voice and professionalism. I initially bought the V50x because of it’s EIS system and video quality. However the audio just wasn’t there so I returned it and reviewed the V50 Pro SE vs this camera. Currently these two cameras are the same price on Amazon. After watching your reviews on both, I went with the V50 pro SE. The audio is better it can shoot 4K 60 and it supports an external mic. I agree it’s nice to have two screens but if the audio is weak then that advantage is lost. Can I ask what editing software do you use and how did you do that Lexus freeze when you were showing the 7le in dash cam mode? Thank you for Great content 👍👍

    • @WORTHITORNOT
      @WORTHITORNOT  3 года назад +1

      It's a decent action camera, the V50 Pro SE is definitely a much better camera all around. I use Adobe Premiere Pro and you can grab a "still" jpg in editing, then just zoom into the image. I really love Premiere Pro, just hate the yearly subscription, but then again I keep busy with other film projects so it pays for itself. Thank you for the kind words but I am FAR from being the best out there, I'm just a normal guy that gives honest opinions about products. Thanks for watching Mike

    Not sure what was going on in the 2:50 to 3:50 segment of testing the different resolutions, but it looks really really bad. Edges of objects had jaggies in all resolutions you show cased. I even switched to 4K video with the same result. My gut says the editing program and special effect transitions changed something from the original clips that destroyed them. When you showed clips around the pool of the same objects outside of this segment, the jaggies were not there. Thanks for the review and I like the format of how it was presented.

    I suggest adding another test to your invaluable reviews.
    Usually, when I shoot with a camera on a camping trip, I sometimes have to make sharp movements with it, especially when it is mounted on my head. Moreover, such jerks always have a large amplitude, for example, if you have to twist your head at an angle close to 90 degrees or even more. It would be interesting to see in a test video in comparison how different cameras make video with such jerks.

    AKASO seem to take one step forward and two steps backwards! They want to take on the DJI Osmo Action, which is a great vlogging camera because of the two screens, so they release a camera with bad audio - again! Even worse, it can't handle wind noise, which makes the audio useable, even though it's supposed to have 'Wind Noise Reduction', which obviously doesn't work because no one has even bothered to even test it, or even mention it for that matter. Then, they decide NOT to include an external microphone connection on a vlogging camera - genius - I would've loved to have been at that meeting! And, there's all the other faults you've mentioned. What AKASO should do is instead of releasing average cameras, one after another, that are disappointing people because of all the faults or due to lack of features, is to reduce the model range to maybe one or two cameras that are top quality, and are good enough to take on the market leaders. I'm spending a bit more and going for a DJI Osmo Action camera, which has just received a great new firmware update, for so many reasons, but mainly because it seems to do every thing well - and it's Rocksteady! At the moment it's the best action camera out there, even better than the GoPro Hero 8 Black. It's also cheaper, and you don't need all the expensive mod add-ons. Thanks for all the videos, keep up the good work.
