One of the best bangs for the buck! My girlfriend just got this exact model and i loved driving it (and i have a 2015 VW GTI as comparison). Its perfect for her - tight steering and acceleration, plus great price and rebates from Hyundai dealers are second to none. The interior and tech are what you find on 30k+ cars. I can't believe she got this much car for what she paid. Quality product Hyundai!
I just bought a 2019 in red with the same interior. $21k sticker. I came from an Infiniti and I love this little thing. The review is right on The money. Plus, I don't see myself coming and going like with most other models. Very impressed by the Koreans.
You are a top-tier auto reviewer. Happy to have found you. I just purchased a 2018 Elantra GT from Enterprise and it is as nice as new with over 35,000 miles!
As a current one year owner of this car i realized all reviews don't mention the engine whistle when you floor it and the bath you get from the windshield washer fluids on the driver side if that glass is down or even up you will notice the water just splashing by on the glass and third who ever designed the windshield wipers clearly forgot that the average joe just might have to replace this blades some where down the line. Other then that i love this car 95/100 percent :)
Excellent review, sir! I'm in the market for a compact hatch that'll serve as my daily driver while having enough space for my wife and our (one, soon to be two) kiddos' carseats when we have to make the occasional road trip, and this car definitely seems to fit the bill. Planning to test one out at my local Hyundai dealership tomorrow based on your recommendation- thanks!
Looks like a really nice car both in style and driving dynamics for the money. My only area of dissatisfaction is the fuel economy. 32mpg HWY is downright lousy for a compact economy car with 160 horses.
I'll take the worse fuel economy since there is no CVT. Also the 2.0 engine is NA. No turbo making 160hp, while not a lot, is respectable for an NA engine in this class. This car is a good middle ground between sporty and an efficient daily commuter in my opinion of course.
@@barrygoldwasser5449 I ended up buying a 2018 Elantra SEL sedan instead of this GT hatch due to it costing $2,000 less similarly equipped at the time due to available rebates and the much better MPG. It's the same size engine with only 14hp less due to lack of GDI, but I'm averaging 36-38mpg with about 80% city driving. I've seen as high as 46.8mpg avg on a 180 mile round trip, mostly highway with AC on.
Nope. It's called the Elantra GT. The Sport is a completely different Elantra. Then there is also the Elantra GT Sport, also not this car but related to it.
Elentra GT and Elentra GT sport is very similar to each other. the sport is the "premium upgrade" with the 1.6 Turbo engine and Dual clutch tranny. Plus with more tech and led and a better rear suspension...
I 2nd this...just skip the CVT nonsense. In fact, a nice GT Sport Wagon would round out this model very well. Right now, VW has my money as they are the only ones with a good wagon that comes with a manual trans.
j O I own a MK. 7 Golf and if by “textbook hatchback design” you mean Golf, then yes it looks very much like it. The Golf is just about the most conventional hatchback you can get.
nice to see the Soul+ power train live on in another car...If everything gets 5 stars, why give stars at all...in fact, how do you actually justify a star? Is it compared to just that car or do you take competitors offerings into consideration? 3 stars should be ok/acceptable/does the job, but not great...4 stars should be great, above average but not stellar/the best of the best...and of course 5 stars should be truly exceptional or fantastic/top of the class/epitome of that item/category...I think most of your ratings should be in the 3-4 star rating with the occasional 5 for that one thing that is the bee's knees...otherwise, all of you cars are and ranking are 4-5 stars all the time. I think I've only seen one ranking ever, but can't remember what car I saw it on...
I can’t believe that you gave this Golf 4 1/2 stars. Come on now, I thought you were a VW enthusiast....? Oops, my bad, this is a Hyundai. Should I consider this car as a replacement to my TDI Golf?
Post TDI scandal VW has been blowing it with cost cutting and crash courses in mpg gains, losing their luster fast with most recent products. Hyundai/Kia on the other hand is a brand on the way up with better engineering, quality and overall appeal.
With Albert Albert Biermann as head of performance development for Hyundai Kia, the "driving dynamics" area should be covered. Biermann is the former head of BMW's M division.
Not sure how it’s not already “viably competitive”. The car is designed in Europe, reliable, has a top tier warranty and offers great value. I would buy it over many other vehicles in its class.
Bong Lim Hyundai and Kia make some of the best built cars out there. Time to catch up with the times. Remember the Accent? I had two of those, manual. Each one had 330 000 of hard km when I was in my twenties with minimal maintenance....

recently bought the same model and I'm very impressed with the quality and driving dynamics. It is a really good value for the money.
Also just bought the same model and no complains!
You still like it? I’m looking for a car to buy for my first car :)
@@KarleeP17 Yes I like my car. No issues with it after 3 years. Still getting compliments on the car when I drive friends with it.

Love your voice infractions. Keeps me coming back for more. Also your takes on cars. Thanks.
Infractions. LOL
TestDrivenTV Sorry about that. LoL
I love this guys voice...seriously
Is the manual gdi? I don't want to walnut blast it in 30k miles...
Great review, you're very well spoken👍😀
I just got one a couple weeks ago. I love it. Nicest car I've ever had. Moved from a Kia to this and I love it. Still figuring it out

Nicely done. Not overly short or long. Gave me what I wanted to know.

Looking forward to your take on the Sport version.
such a shame they don't have the n version in the us.
I was hopping to see the elantra gt sport turbo review
At 11:06 you mention 4 out of 5 stars for chassis but your displayed graphics say 5 stars. Just a tiny mess up I guess.
It's not a perfect world ;)
TestDrivenTV ☆☆☆☆☆ For a good response!
Great review!

well i own the car and i can tell you i average combined 35 mpg driving normal of course,.

I average 33 to 34mpg combined. On the highway is high 30s
The EPA has underestimated the MPG rating for this model by a wide margin.

Another great vehicle review. This car looks fun to drive.
Great Review. Seems much nicer than the 13 Elantra my girlfriend has
Well spoken review, I will check out your channel.
Is this the same I-30 sold in Australia?????
Alx li It’s called the I-30 everywhere else I think, but here, it’s called the Elantra Sport.
Yes it’s the same. America is just dumb and has to be different for all the wrong reasons.

The Elantra Sedan with its longer wheelbase, would make for a nice wagon. Hyundai, please think about it.

Diego Montoya They have a I30 wagon in Europe and it’s a beauty .... maybe some day?
No push button start?
Great review. Great deal
Wow, that Hyundai Golf SE sure is nice.
This looks nothing like Golf. I personally own MK6 GTI and it resembles nothing other than textbook hatchback design.
It looks like a Peugeot 308 2017.

The new Hyundai Golf!!! 😂
I was thinking the same thing, it's looks so much like the Golf. I wonder if that was Hyundai's intention?
I'm glad you like it.
vr6gls This does not look like a fucking golf. Lol. The golf has more sharper looks than this
Well, your wallet won't be nearly as empty, buying this over the Golf...
AKA I 30 in Europe. Finally we are getting decent wheels from Europe
Lol umm Europe been giving the world decent wheels for a while now, Maserati, ferrari, Lamborghini, bmw, bugatti and the list goes on and on

Nice Audi inspired design Kia/ Hyundai should focus more on built quality & driving dynamics to make it more viably competitive
