As a raptors fan I just came to say I reported your video after reading the title and didn’t watch past the 5 second RUclips ad where I paused and typed this
I've been a Raptors fan since day 1, my dad even took me to the first ever game. It was so nice seeing them win after all those terrible years. That being said, I don't think the future is as bright as others seems to think. I've never been sold on Barnes. Every night he continues to be lazy and complains to refs on every play. Barrett, who's only been with the team for a few weeks, gives 110% every night and it shows. I still think Masai not trading Barnes for KD after that rookie season will go down as one of his biggest mistakes on his time in Toronto. Sure KD has an injury history but he's still one of the best players in the league and their window was still open, heck KD even said he grew up a Raptors fan and would've loved to play for them. KD, Pascal, Poeltl, FVV would've been a solid team. However anytime you mention that on the Raptors sub, you get downvoted into oblivion. They keep saying Barnes is better and will go down better than KD ever was. Well Barnes is averaging 20.3/5.8/8.1 in his third season compared to KD's third season which was 30.1/2.8/7.6. Even this season at 35 years old, KD is putting up 28.3/5.7/6.3. This team needs to get rid of Barnes before other teams start to see his ceiling is a 6th man of the year.
Good luck to the Raptors, got a bright future, I think they waited a season too long to hit the reset button, but they've done it now and got some great assets to get a new era going, Scottie Barnes has looked great this season and I am very curious about what he can do as a number 1 option
Man I remember watching that game in 2019 against the spurs. The range of emotion I had when I watched Kawhi strip DeRozan and go for the dunk. It was like an unofficial passing of the torch moment (in the worst way possible)…
We were the perfect buyers when it came to NBA teams of that era picking up Kawhi, Danny, Ibaka, Gasol, etc and trading Greivous Vasquez for OG & Norman Powell. But when it was our turn to be the sellers we just couldn't give up on our guys and that ultimately killed us but we believed in us. The main catalyst is the 2020 season in which we were on pace for a 60 win season before covid and lost our homecourt advantage against the Celtics, still we were a possession away from the conference finals after losing Danny & Kawhi.
Would’ve gone back to the finals if COVID didn’t happen, Siakam was on a tear in 19-20 and his momentum got interrupted. That 19-20 team went on a 15 game winning streak at one point that season
We had a better record in 19-20 season than in the title season. Lost in 7 in the conference semifinals to the celtics, if we won that series i think we would habe had a huge chance to repeat the title considering we were stronger than miami and played really well in the RS against the lakers

That 2020 season is a what if for sure, that lockdown really messed with Siakams play, he mighta put up decent numbers against Brooklyn but he was nothing like the player he was a few months before, he had little confidence offensively. I’m not saying they win a chip again, but I am saying they beat Boston
At least one more, I don't know if the Raptors three-peat since that is when the Kawhi injuries kicked in, but they almost made two finals in a row without Kawhi.
SCOTTIE BARNES SAID I NEED TO WIN THE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD JUST LIKE LEBRON JAMES THE 1ST OVERALL PICK IN THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS BUT IN TORONTO I NEED THE BACK HIS OWN THE BEST TEAM 11:43
Simply put, the downfall started the moment Kawhi left. He was that one piece that elevated us to championship status, without him we just could not get the job done, and then tons of other pieces also defected to the point where we had to rebuild it all. It's a shame but you know you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. Honestly though I'm more pissed at how awful the fanbase has become since, it started with cheering KD's injury, then they cheered Embiid's injury in 2021, and then they sent threats to the daughter of former Raptor great DeMar DeRozan after the whole screaming during free throws incident. If anything this downfall is deserved for this fanbases entitlement, but at the end of the day at least we won unlike OKC or Houston did.
I'm not gonna lie. I don't care how shit we are now.... We won a championship... We took a massive gamble on our future. No one can take that championship away from us. No one
I don't think this count as a collapse. I think the 2019 Raptors were the one and done with Kawhi. Once he's gone it is a matter of time that the Raptors must start a rebuild.
I kind of wish Kawhi Leonard would have stayed with the Raptors being that he won an NBA championship with them. Cuz even though the Clippers are a good team they haven’t won anything since Kawhi as been their. 🤷♂️
Pretty simple. Kawhi left, Lowry got traded. Norm left. Gasol and ibaka and Danny green left. That team was so deep and so fun to watch. Could’ve definitely repeated in the bubble and maybe even the year after if everyone stayed
I feel like collapse is a but harsh they have lots of good young players they aren’t gonna be on the bottom for years like the pistons they just need to develop their young guys and maybe sign a star and they can contend again. Cause let’s not forget that the 2019 championship team had no lottery picks and everyone outside of kawhi and gasol was developed in house.
3:15 Sure Raptors won! But everyone involved or aware about the situation and trading or the franchise have to go through loses and it hurts. Still kinda hurts today. If only, if only.....
Every team has a window in which they will be successful. The raptors had a great run and it came to an end. Just like any other good-great team in the past. It’s just how the NBA works and is what makes the league entertaining.
PASCAL SIAKAM SAID WE LOST KWAHI LEONARD AND DANNY GREEN WE LOST MARC GASOL AND SERGE IBAKA AND WE KYLE LOWRY FRED V AND FOR NOW ME I'M LEAVING TO TORONTO THANK YOU SO MUCH AND SEE YOU AGAIN INDIANA PACERS I'M COMING FOR YOU 15:39
The downfall didn’t start when Kawhi left; it started with Fred moving to the starting lineup and having a talking role! A individualist. A bet on yourself guy. A toxic player IF LEFT TO BE ONE! With it came the exodus of team players. The champion caliber players. This started in the last two series of championship year. Yes he was a giant reason the championship was won. No doubt! So give Fred his well deserved flowers. He deserves them. Danny Green was in a slump Fred stepped up. BUT…there were a magnitude of team minded players to contain him. To keep him in his place. BUT then…..the following year he was no doubt uncontainable. Hence the exodus that followed and the new toxic locker room spirit. Look at the graphic at 6:25. Imagine if Powell was moved to the starting lineup and Fred was traded where the locker room and team could have been. Now Fred’s a great SG. A high basketball IQ guy. A master manipulator of the game and media. A great businessman. Likely a great human. He key piece in a championship but a key piece in the destruction of a championship team.
Toronto’s rebuild is gonna take a very long time. There’s a number of players who still need to either get traded or let walk. IQ needs to develop “quickley” (lame pun, I know) and Barnes is gonna have to step it up. RJ looks good but they need someone else to pair with in that starting lineup and they need a much better big. Poeltl isn’t it. Lots of work to do here. Masai has his work cut out for him.
@@IAmTheTruCanadian No, I’m not. BBQ is good but they need to continue to add more and develop. Barnes has been turning the ball over a lot and its been concerning. I’m hoping its only growing pains. The rest of the roster is lacking outside of the core.
@@jaywarvz They don’t have a choice. They already have some good pieces in guys like Quickley, Barrett, Barnes, Nwora and guys like Brown and Jontay Porter off the bench. I also wanna see what Javon Freeman-Liberty offers.

That 2020 season is a what if for sure, that lockdown really messed with Siakams play, he mighta put up decent numbers against Brooklyn but he was nothing like the player he was a few months before, he had little confidence offensively.
I’m not saying they win a chip again, but I am saying they beat Boston
Facts man
If Kawhi never leaves, I think they would have won one more!
Probably man!
At least one more, I don't know if the Raptors three-peat since that is when the Kawhi injuries kicked in, but they almost made two finals in a row without Kawhi.
That covid pause really screwed the raptors
So unfortunate
Agree with you man
I'm not gonna lie. I don't care how shit we are now.... We won a championship... We took a massive gamble on our future. No one can take that championship away from us. No one
Definitely man. What a great risk
I don't think this count as a collapse. I think the 2019 Raptors were the one and done with Kawhi. Once he's gone it is a matter of time that the Raptors must start a rebuild.
They are still contenders after kawhi left
I kind of wish Kawhi Leonard would have stayed with the Raptors being that he won an NBA championship with them. Cuz even though the Clippers are a good team they haven’t won anything since Kawhi as been their. 🤷♂️
Wish kawhi extended with toronto
Do a thunder rebuild to contention video
By the end of this season
Pretty simple. Kawhi left, Lowry got traded. Norm left. Gasol and ibaka and Danny green left. That team was so deep and so fun to watch. Could’ve definitely repeated in the bubble and maybe even the year after if everyone stayed
Facts man
Kawhi Leonard stayed for one more season. They definitely would’ve won another title.
What could have been
Kawhi stays and Toronto has a legit chance at winning in the bubble since they lost in 7 against boston
What could have been
kawhi leonard is a robot no other player in NBA history NBA game seven buzzer beater
He was programmed to do that
I’m glad Masai waited for the right time to trade Pascal, he might’ve fleeced Indy
He should have traded pascal way earlier
I feel like collapse is a but harsh they have lots of good young players they aren’t gonna be on the bottom for years like the pistons they just need to develop their young guys and maybe sign a star and they can contend again. Cause let’s not forget that the 2019 championship team had no lottery picks and everyone outside of kawhi and gasol was developed in house.
You got a point man
“They can build off of this” was the beginning of the end for the Raptors
Indeed man
Do the spurs timeline from 2014 championship to getting wemby
Sure man
Pascal carried the team since Kawhi left. Worst part, Raptors had the pieces to compete, to make deep playoff runs at the least.
That's true
That Kawhi shot to beat the 76ers in Game 7 that shot was complete luck
Still what a great shot
@@jaywarvz it was a great shot
3:15 Sure Raptors won! But everyone involved or aware about the situation and trading or the franchise have to go through loses and it hurts. Still kinda hurts today.
If only, if only.....
This “rebuilding” thing made absolutely zero sense. Smh
Drafting Gradey Dick over Jordan Hawkins was a huge mistake for the Raptors.
Well let's still hope. Dick is still a rook
1:58 never forget 😂
Legendary lol
Damn, they kept loosing players to the LA teams (Lakers and Clippers) in free agency..
True man. 4 core players
Masai try to get Giannis. He had severely weakened the team to do so. When it didn’t happen the Raptors got caught in slow decline.
Indeed
They only won the finals because the entire warriors team was injury
Not a good argument
@@jaywarvzToronto had no where near as much firepower as the Warriors but KD and Klay Thompson getting injured they just didn’t have enough
Every team has a window in which they will be successful. The raptors had a great run and it came to an end. Just like any other good-great team in the past. It’s just how the NBA works and is what makes the league entertaining.
That's true man
If kawhi stayed one more year they would have definitely made it to conference finals if not the finals
No doubt man
You know what though, I’ll take the collapse since I got to witness them win a title.
It's been 5 years
@@jaywarvz for sure it’s been awhile but It’s better than collapsing after not winning anything like other teams
PASCAL SIAKAM SAID WE LOST KWAHI LEONARD AND DANNY GREEN WE LOST MARC GASOL AND SERGE IBAKA AND WE KYLE LOWRY FRED V AND FOR NOW ME I'M LEAVING TO TORONTO THANK YOU SO MUCH AND SEE YOU AGAIN INDIANA PACERS I'M COMING FOR YOU 15:39
They lost Kawhi, and the team fell.
Sadly yeah
@@jaywarvz yes.
Very well said man
Raptors traded away their future for a chip. I can't even be mad about that.
What a great risk
...They didn't trade their future
Toronto’s rebuild is gonna take a very long time. There’s a number of players who still need to either get traded or let walk. IQ needs to develop “quickley” (lame pun, I know) and Barnes is gonna have to step it up. RJ looks good but they need someone else to pair with in that starting lineup and they need a much better big. Poeltl isn’t it. Lots of work to do here. Masai has his work cut out for him.
casual
@@IAmTheTruCanadian No, I’m not. BBQ is good but they need to continue to add more and develop. Barnes has been turning the ball over a lot and its been concerning. I’m hoping its only growing pains. The rest of the roster is lacking outside of the core.
Hopefully they rebuild successfully
@@jaywarvz They don’t have a choice. They already have some good pieces in guys like Quickley, Barrett, Barnes, Nwora and guys like Brown and Jontay Porter off the bench. I also wanna see what Javon Freeman-Liberty offers.
As soon as Kawhi left we all knew it was over
Indeed
crazy to think Kawhi won a chip against the team that injured him. Also, the karma GSW lost two stars to injury that series for what zaza did to Kawhi. Talk about debts paid
Lol
