The fact that John Schneider said he was 24 and showed up to the interview in a best up truck with a six pack and said was from Snellville, Georgia but he was actually 18 and originally from New York. Now THAT'S acting!
High School Students in the late 70's and early 1980's , the male students , had full beards and mustache's . Some of those ' guys ' were as big as ' Bikers ' . You look up old photo's of the 70's and 80's and you will see what amounted to ' Full Grown Men ' , chewing tobacco and smoking cigarettes before the first period of the day . I , myself was class of 89 and I was 6 foot tall at the time , after High School I was 6' 3/4 " tall . Students during the 1950's and 1960's were ' tall ' but very thin .
I got to meet Tom Wopat at a high school in NC in 1988. I wrote the questions for a newspaper interview. I enjoyed his responses, thought they were funny, kinda cocky. During the interview he was on stage putting strings on his guitar. A delightful tv show.
I'm the same age as you. I remember watching Dukes when I was a kid and playing General Lee with my brother in the backyard with our picnic table. Those are some great memories!
It's mainly the lighting and multiple cameras that gives the effect. The whole set is lit up so the actors are lit properly regardless of where they stand.
They've come a long way since then. They stay active. I'd like to see a Dukes of Hazzard Revisit with them Duke Boys and Daisey Mae as they are now. They'd have to write in that Uncle Jesse, Boss Hog, Sheriff Roscoe and others passed on, as they did in real life. Nobody could fill their shoes - ever.
Tom was way far more charming than John back then but they were both very very beautyful and also great actors!!!!!We Greeks we absokutely adored them. They became our heroes!!!!!
The real Bo and Luke Duke along with the real Daisy should make a Dukes of Hazzard Movie. It was a big mistake doing the movie without the real cast last time with Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson and others. They ruined it. Even John and Tom said they hated it. Do it right or don't do it at all !!!
I agree that Wopat is more authentic...on the other hand, Schneider has a charisma that many find appealing--it's actually a nice contrast that made for a successful duo.
Tom sounds authentic southern, but John doesn't (did more with time). Nonetheless they both ended up winning the hearts of millions for years to come on TV

Oh my word, John Schneider was just to good looking for words. WOW!
Check out his youtube page. He looks great for 60 and is the nicest person in Hollywood.
@@SouthernSkeptic thank you!
He still IS!
It still amazes me John was only 18. He looks much older. In 1978, his build would have been very unusual for a teenager.
what? he was 18?

His acting was better in the beginning of the show
Even in this early screen test they had chemistry and fit well together. Guy Waldron had to know these were his stars for his show right off the bat.

Yeah he was probably high as a kite on coke, tends to make you grandiose in your own head. In reality he was sitting in a high school auditorium lol
I was almost 4 years old when they filmed this audition, wow I’m 45 now time flies

Tom was the better actor, John had the looks..The chemistry was undeniable..
I agree, although Tom was no slouch in the looks department! But I definitely see what you mean.
@@mfar3016 yeah.. when u was a kid i prefered Schneider.. late i loved Wopat
And now i see them as a team,❤️🙏🌈
@@mfar3016 but... After watching this video.. i see Tom Wopat is better actor.
I loved watching this show back in my own country. I still love the show.
Chemistry is apparent. But it looks like watching a live soap, LOL!

That's because they don't put a lot of money into a " screen " test . No background sounds , no music , no Waylon Jennings .
...of course it does. They were on a soap opera set for this.
It's mainly the lighting and multiple cameras that gives the effect. The whole set is lit up so the actors are lit properly regardless of where they stand.
You can tell this test is from Daisy's Song!
That was awesome!!! Ya, they both came across like no-brainers
Really cool to see them working as actors!🤘
this was 45 years ago today
John was and still is a great actor
Bar none they were perfect together. Like peanut butter and jelly. So delicious.
Bo said Damn they only said dang on the show
Luke said it in a few of the early episodes in season one especially the Georgia episodes, as did Boss Hogg and Roscoe
This is gold🤔 nothing like shows these days
Dialogue was from second episode 'Daisy's song'

You know for a 18 year old John looked and sounded older!
He had the physique of a man
Omg, just realized I done didn’t word that none too good, I meant the decision on their chemistry is a no-brainer
Tom was way far more charming than John back then but they were both very very beautyful and also great actors!!!!!We Greeks we absokutely adored them. They became our heroes!!!!!
Haha I remember John talking about his accent in the auditions and that the crew didn’t want him to do the full on southern accent. 😂.

So true. Just like they did to the chips movie a few years later.🤷🏻♀️
Me gustan estos chicos... Yo creo que quedan en el papel 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 son muy naturales.😅😅
john was so good looking omg. toms not bad either i love them both there great actors and singers.
Lost sheep to shepherd, lost sheep to shepherd...
it is good to see this.
Why are they using Cooter's lines?
They did really well
Tom Wopat is definitely the superior actor.. i always thought Wopat could have been a leading man in a Magnum PI type show in the mid 80's.
Funny you say that, cause john is the only one still doing acting jobs, and stage. Guess he got better huh
@@shable1436 Yea cause the masses know great acting.. 😆

I wonder if they ever got the part ?
it'll never catch on
Love u john❤❤❤❤debbie
Excellent. 😁
I got my ears on good buddy
I can’t believe this is Jim cryer from the have and have nots show!!😂😂😂😂😂
Tom looks so different from how he looks on the show... he's actually kinda cute here. But John... no words can describe how cute.
How could they buy into Schneider's lies in for the cast?
Acting. that's what it was. He belived in Be what they want
What lies lol
@@shable1436
They wanted guys, age 25, but he was only 18.
Wow! Him then and now as Jim Crier on the Haves and The Have Nots Big difference
Pretty good, but I'm not sure about those accents.
Tom sounds authentic southern, but John doesn't (did more with time). Nonetheless they both ended up winning the hearts of millions for years to come on TV
I remember seeing all the other male teen idols shirtless and thinking they were hot, until I saw John Schneider shirtless. He was the man.
Bos pants at 2:05
👍
Looks like he's wearing 'Tangas' ... LOL!
Hello bo lucky Tom jhonn I love you
Oh cool, thanks for sharing. :)
Brian, are you Rosco's son ? :)))
I wonder when and how everyone found out that John had lied about his age? Lol he is so cute
The accents needed serious work but they were the perfect choice!
😍
Tom was attracted to John, perhaps the feeling was mutual looking like that
John looks similar to young Sebastian Bach
Tom wopat is John travolta
Much prettier and a real men because Travolta was a little bit of gay!!!!!Sorry!!!!!!
Es de rfg g uhhhh hu
Kinda corny. But they ere great together
Cringe.
