Jay, really great job on the E30 mate, looks absolutely mega and I can appreciate how much effort you put into getting it prepared in such a short space of time. Love the format of this build series too, fast-paced & informative. Looking forward to seeing future updates and how the car progresses as you begin to use it on track. Top job!
Amazing job! As much as the GT3s etc are great this is so much more relatable - even if that car is probably 8 times more valuable than it would have been 3 years ago! Ah well! Can’t wait to see more
Well done Jay👏👏 Goes well in the wet so guess dry will be enjoyable. Always teething problems and i guess the rush didn't help. Next one should be mega
I wrecked the handling on mine dropping the ride height on HSDs. The bump steer was horrendous. MRP do a bump steer correction kit with drift lock position for the tie rods. Well worth it, nearly sorted mine out completely. It was brown pants hitting bumps at high speed. 3.73 is one of the smallest ratios you can get for an E30. But the E36 compact diffs fit straight on and have smaller ratios available. Using a 2.69 on mine from a E36 diesel and sits at 2600ish at 70mph. My LSD carrier fit straight in
I am so jealous Jay what an icon of a car, those wheels, the old 80s 530i bmw originally came out with them . Pity E30s aren’t great handlers on track , E36s miles ahead .the design geometry of the suspension was not great on E30s, so you can change/ convert all the hubs to E36 so you get bigger brakes ad 5 stud suspension . Would like to buy your old white wheels if they go for a good price, ?
The oil pan is the absolute coldest oil temp reading you can get from your engine. Needle is going to be pegged left for ages upon start up. Try the oil filter housing!
Im considering putting a new shifter on my E30 project, but not sure if I want to go with a chassis mount one. I understand the reason for getting a tall one is for more leverage or faster shifts maybe, but I don't like them. What Im thinking of doing is just going with a Z3 or Z4 type of lever that reduces throw although there are Lots of different aftermarket options available. That E30 track car is probably so much fun to drive, and it looks damn nice too!
Unless you plan on running unibal bearings I suggest you get the full powerflex handling pack. Improves the handling and feedback noticeably for cheap moneys.
Good video, always enjoy a budget track car build , prefer an E30 to a Clio any day of the week a mare had a 320 which was some blokes budget build had m3 body bits and straight pipe exhaust which was far to loud not sure how he ever got it to pass a noise test. Only paid 500 for it though .
It was like an authentic early 00's backroad battle, BMW struggling for traction and a white van man not giving a toss, cos he's late for his first job of the day.
Rare to see two piece coilovers being setup properly. My car came with them and ended up only having 15mm rebound travel, on full compression the wheel would've gone through the arch 🤣
Loves Jay's car noises 🤣
Was just about to comment the same 😂😂
Those rims are PERFECT sweet ride Jay😎

Top job!
Banging the gears with your own engine noises, reminds me of my childhood - love it!
I like the torque spec on the diff drain plug...... Erghhh.... Ugh 😂😂😂 great video again Jay 🤙
I cut my teeth on e30s, always get a pang in my heart when I see a nice on. Great work jay, looks and sounds amazing.
The Tachometer Install is my favorite part of the build.
Loved this vid, something we can all relate to who have side projects on the go

Perfect sunday evening viewing. Car looks amazing, do love the E30's.

Great build and good decision bailing on Cadwell in those conditions.
One of those laps it looked like a decorator in a white Astra van going to get some materials lol 😂 love your car dude great stuff 👊🏻🤘🏻👌🏻❤️
Congrats on getting the car on the track! It looks really good.
Clearly you need an astra van…..

Nice work Jay, not sure I would have wanted to get under it in that weather either 👍
Looks so clean
Well done Jay👏👏 Goes well in the wet so guess dry will be enjoyable. Always teething problems and i guess the rush didn't help. Next one should be mega

Well done on the quick turn around. To get it track ready. Like the gold spokes over the white set. Merry xmas to you and the guys

Nice one Jay 🤘
Nice motor that Jay, good work dude 😎🤘🏻

good stuff car looks good cadwell is a hard track in the dry lol never mind those conditions
It looks mega, well done that man.
Nice work Jay, looks great, must be happy? It’s so much better than the French thing.
Beautiful rims!
Now that is one floppy shifter! Thought that was the reason you changed it? ;)
Top work fella.👍
Nice work - cool package and sounds excellent
Sounds awesome 👌
Friggin love it, looks, sounds, goes mint 👌👍
Excellent work, sir!

Looks great Jay 👍
It looks great 👍🏽
Always awesome content Jay 👏
and you did a stud conversion! Snag another rear trunk lid so you can build a huge adjustable rear spoiler!
Huge spoilers are far from my taste.
Nice one Jay!!
Well done mate 👍
Looks the business Jay 👌🏻😍
Nice motor I like it. 👍
the perfect track car.
Great video and great looking car! Get it to Castle Combe :-)
Was that an Astra van in front on the track . mate
Love it such a cool car congrats
Great video! Worked out beeing a nice build this.
if you have 3.73 diff ratio with 5 speed gear box from E36 you will have a 5th gear 1:1 ratio vs the E30 0.8 ratio perhaps that is why it seems short
Wicked build!! Nice one!
Top work jay. Looks mega

well done Top work
Ever thought about getting an E30 IX for a track car?!
Awesome - New Driftworks video. Let me just click like before I watch this. 😎😁👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hand-draulic windows!
That was great !
Good hustle Jay , car looks the business ! Glad you got rid of those pig aids door mirrors 😂😂👌👍
Should of built an Astra van looking at that track clip 😂
It was my 2nd lap in a new car but yeah probably should have.
@@JayDontGotThis I hate cadwell in the rain so fair play for giving it some. I usually spin at the hairpin and that's in fwd car (in the rain)
Yea I wonder what is in it?!
Having had two Astravans I like this comment 👍
It was like an authentic early 00's backroad battle, BMW struggling for traction and a white van man not giving a toss, cos he's late for his first job of the day.
Great video cheers
Sounds mint

Astra van was fast
thank you for the video
Cool video 👍🏻
Hey Jay
What tire and tire size did you go with these wheels?
Look like Nankang?
Looks mint
What setup you running on the rear arms for camber/ toe adjustment
Nothing it’s completely standard
Cracking job! :)
Looks cool 😎
Verossa! In the UK?! That's gotta be rare as hell.
Rare for good reason, look at it
Love it
On the old Porsches I push the trim in the seal before putting the glass in. Does that not work with the e30? The design looks the same.
