On January 14, 1993, the ship MF Jan Heweliusz sank off the coast of the German island of Rügen. Of the 64 citizens of Poland, Austria, Hungary, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Norway on board, 55 people died, including two children. Sixteen bodies have never been found.
