Love this!!! I was lucky to be born in 1987 and I was watching Nascar every Sunday with my Dad since birth. I still remember watching the first All Star race run under the lights as well as Kulwiki winning the championship in the legendary Atlanta finale of 92! Nascar was just a huge sport with great story lines and interesting drivers! From 1987 to 2008 were truly the golden years in my opinion. Though since 2019 i think Nascar is starting to get stronger after the ten year lull. Really looking forward to the new car in 2022.
Man, those emotions between the Burton brothers were something…. Props to Buddy Baker for sticking it out the whole race. He gave his life to this sport.
YOOO. I was at this race. went to visit my uncle in Durham and my dad got tickets to this race. this was my 1st cup race at 7 years old. sat in sec 8 row 4??? we were only a few feet before the start/finish line. Thank you so much Smiff 😁 Edit: this was my first cup race. My 1st NASCAR sanctioned race was at Watkins Glen truck race in May 1998
@@brucefrye8799 I haven't been to many NASCAR races/tracks. I've been to the Craftsman Trucks Series at Watkins Glen in 1998, North Carolina/ Rockingham Speedway in Nov 1999, Watkins Glen cup race 2001, cup Fall Talladega 2007 (first COT 'Dega) I was also at Richmond Raceway in 2003, then Nazereth Raceway in 2004 for my dad's Richard Petty Driving Experience runs. I was flirting with going to the Martinsville fall race this year
@@Dante.the.inferno been a fan since '75 listening to races on the radio with my dad. Lived in Bristol and we were in the pits behind Cale's pit stall and watched Dale win his first race in '79. I was 11.

I love watching races at The Rock
Me too. I’m thankful for the time capsule we know as RUclips. I enjoy the classics much more than the modern day “racing” we still call NASCAR.
I loved attending races at "The Rock"
Man, Ward was way better than he gets credit for!
“He’s at least a sand wedge shot higher than Dale Jarrett up there”
The commentating back then was top notch.
This was the 3rd time in 1999 that the Burton brothers finished 1-2 in a race w/ Jeff winning all 3
31:11 starting lineup
Thank you
Np
No thanks. I'm plenty entertained watching The Intimidator mess with Glenn Jarrett...

you a real one for this

4:10 There is a UFO behind Dale Earnhardt 👽 🛸
@Andrew McFadden i would agree on the banner but i keep replaying it and i dont see the plane in front if this is a banner.
It is a banner being pulled by plane
That was the only way to promote the race to the country folk that lived near by. 😄
@@daviclar867 I know that I been a fan since 99. I just thought it was a UFO. One thing is certain I still miss Capital E.

Burton Brothers 1 2 finish
Johnny Benson?
Ol ward just needed one more lap...
they seem a lot faster back then
There also wasn’t 18 million cautions for stage completion, kissing the wall, or the rogue and frequent debris events.
@@mrdarknezz6285 reatrictor plate was only for talladega and daytona and once at newhampshire
850 to 900hp back then.
Such a ridiculous name for a race. It’s overly long. We all know it’s microwave popcorn. Shoulda just been called Popsecret 400 lol
Now that’s a damn race car. Bad fast and shaped like a bullet. Take notes NASCAR
TNN was the best
