I was born and raised in Indy. I am in NC. I want to come back. It looks even better than it was when I was there. Its always been great. In all my travels from coast to coast its still the best city I have ever been in.
@@LivingInIndianapolis We are in Hong Kong now, about to get our green cards next year and looking for a big city for our retirement and colleges for our 2 kids. WIll not consider NYC, LA or SF etc. the living costs are too high and got too many social problems. Will you do a video on that? Very much appreciated ☺
I base it on price per square foot in house cost. In my Neighborhood CPSF is $850 to $1050. In Indian I believe it's $80 to maybe $200 per foot. That's huge. So a 3500 Sq ft house in Indiana would be $700k that same house in my city would be $2,975,000..

I assume auto and car rental is cheap as well. I live in Harris county Texas (Houston) and insurance home and auto is very expensive due to the flooding and hurricanes.
Yeah... I'm sure it's cheaper here. Other than tornadoes (which are exceptionally rare and very local when they hit) we do get some nasty hail each year in pockets. No hurricanes though. Just the leftover rain when the system makes its way here.
My car Insurance for a 2012 Nissan Sentra and two speeding tickets I am paying $118 for full coverage. I am 36 years old. I still rent and the last place I live that was only nine dollars a month for renters insurance for $100,000 coverage
A lot cheaper than anywhere I’ve lived. But... with inflation and supply chain issues, building costs going up... it’s not going to be inexpensive compared to even a couple years ago. Also.. look at taxes... they tax retirement income here. It’s a negative. But.. there are offsets in other areas. Run the numbers! Really great people here. There’s something unique about Midwestern kindness IMO.
Living In Indianapolis Will do! Native Southern Cali guy here in San Diego, but lived in Indy from 1989-1996. I loved it, except for bigotry was bad back then, hope it’s better. @@stevencoulter9980 You bet! Indy has changed a tremendous amount since 1996. I've lived here since 1997 and can say it's been an excellent experience. Hope all is well there!
i truly like Indianapolis but i hear that the crime rate is high but definetly it could be safer than Chicago and Detroit. I wonder if the taxation are bit tolerable and housing affordable. Thank you for this amazing video and God bless Indianapolis
Leaving Chicago to go work for A big Pharma in Indianapolis is this a good idea? When you love Chicago culture, music and the lake. I would be great if you can compare the 2 cities…
Hello my name is Ahmed I live in Garland, TX and I am interested to know the cost of living in fishers, compared in Garland, TX in terms of rental houses 3bd and 2bt minimum. Great video And thank you for all you do .
It depends on where you are in the Indy Metro. More popular areas are certainly going to be more expensive. Unfortunately I don't know much about Garland TX
We are a family of five (dad, mom, and 3 little boys). Looking for a nice place to move in the USA, and IN seems to be a great option. Would it be a good choice for us? As a foreign family, I mean.
Question I have is for someone that is a divorce? I live in Illinois and looking to move in the near future but want to live close to my child. Which suburb would be best or would the city be cheaper?
It's cheap in Indianapolis, but most people would not live there if they had a choice. I spent time there in the early 70's was so glad to move to Pittsburgh in 1975. Indianapolis has God awful mass transit.
It's certainly true the mass transit in Indy is severely lacking. But, Indy has grown up a lot in other aspects since the 70's. Plenty of good happening here. However, Pittsburgh has a lot going for it as well. Good place...
Apartment rates near downtown are outrageous. $1000 month for a studio is on par with Chicago and decent parts of New York. Public transportation is a disgrace and the Republican politicians don't want to invest in infrastructure.
@@mbmaccin555555 well I live near Chicago and it is true that u can get studio apartments on the northside for a little over 1k easily. So compared to Chi, that is a bit overpriced for Indy. You'd actually save a lot more money living in Chicago because there's no need for a vehicle and overpriced gas and car insurance and everything is in such close proximity. Chicago also being in the midwest, you'd be surprised the cost of living is far cheaper than other massive/high density cities in the US.
I dont see much difference between here and FL. alcohol is more. Housing is about the same. Expensive af in nice areas or even not so nice areas, cheaper in high crime or ghetto areas. Indy has state tax, high sales tax in marion. And indy is fucking boring. And infiltrated by 'urbanites' if u kno what i mean.
How does the cost of living in Indianapolis compare with where you live?
This is such a great video, but also hope you can do Apartments tours and a little bit more info about renting. Thanks
