@ryansean14 Make sure you play on EASY. If you are not, the enemies will use flares on missiles that I got through playing on easy. If you are playing this on easy, each action will match up with the video.
@backlashlaze I'm glad my video helped. It's a very tricky trophy/achievement. And to answer other people's question about the mini gun - you can not use it. It must be missiles.
@eLLriDe420 I believe you can shoot as many flares as you want, if your one those types that like to spam buttons. You're limited to just one missile per plane, however.

I wish all the bullshit at the beginning of the mission was skippable. I don't want to hear the pilot be all gung ho about jumping into a fighter jet because the first f'n plane dumped flares even after I waited before taking a shot.

Ok wtf? that first kill I did perfect on my first try and got all the way to the last 2 jets and fucked up, so I quit and re did the mission (watching the 5 min cut scene) I'm on my 10th try and for some reason that 1st jet no matter what I do counters my rocket, I did it before and I'm perfectly synced up with the vid I just don't get it I guess I'm bad at game cause this acievement is retarded

@Seifer82001 you must be doing it wrong. I got the video paused just after he says bogey dumping flares at the start. Pause it the second he finishes the word flares. Then get your game to that stage. And as he finishes the word flares, press play, mute your tv and the rest is easy. The last jet before the two that come behind you is the hardest. Great video! Literally an ingenious idea too. Good stuff man!
best vid i could find for help with this achievement was this one - i also used the top comment mainly for advice - i read the comment- varified my playing with video and paused after every kill to see what was next. however - for me anyway, my achievement didnt pop up and i got super nervous- but i checked my achievements and sure enogh it was there! - thanks again for the help!
Just to let anyone know that is having trouble with this, I'm playing on the ps3 (on easy) and for some reason my script was a little different. I had to wait a long ass time before I shot the first jet. Every video I've seen, they shoot the guy down rather quickly, I was locked for a WHILE. Also, I'm pretty sure I had one less jet to shoot down. I just did my own thing up until the mini cut scene, and followed this vid after
Man, this trophy sucks. For some reason I cannot hit that first plane on the first try. He always dumps flares as soon as I shoot. I've waited a few seconds, I've waited about 15 seconds, I've done it right away, I've even timed how long you waited to shoot (roughly 7 seconds), and did that, and it STILL didn't work. Not sure what to do here. (and yes, I am playing on easy if anyone thinks that might be the problem)
I synced up the video and everything. I don't know what went wrong. I fired every missile on target, fired every flare correctly. Maybe I misfired a flare. I don't know. I tried enough times that I'll do it later. Sucks that if you THINK you got it after after the last two pair of planes and you go into the next phase and nothing pops up, you have to start the mission all over again. Damn.

I beat the campaign on hard but didn't get this achievement on it, beat the campaign again on normal, still couldn't get it! lol Finally gave in, and played this mission on easy & watched your video, got on the third try. Thank god I never have to play this mission or campaign again because I have all of the 'campaign achievements' now. I have 20 of 38 so far, on to MP & co-op now finally.
Great video! I had previous tried this multiple times with some other video i saw but today i just watched this video and got it on my first try! One tip is to not necessarily try and sync every one of your actions with this video but whenever this video says to hold your fire just count how many enemy jet flares you have to hold your fire for and then fire.
You just saved me a ton of time and sanity. The best thing about it were the wait prompts. I was able to look at those and know what to expect next without having to remember perfectly. Then I just listened to the sound in the video and hit the button in my game. Perfect. Thanks for your work and effort in this.
...Nevermind that, I have it now. THANK YOU SO FIRETRUCKING MUCH!!!!!! This took me three attempts - the first time, I was off on the flares, and I got hit, the second time, I fired too late and missed, but the third time with the motherfiretrucking charm. Thank you. I have completed my solo campaign achievement collection for BF3 now.
Hard only have six planes pratice before starting over from the beginning. 1st After your plane barrel role and flare top right. 2nd As you lock on fire. 3rd After first flares top right. 4th As you lock on fire. Saving.... 5th After two flares and your plane barrel role. 6th After two flare top right. Saving..... Trophy appears
@TheBrendonmoore Yes you can :D i just did it i took down 4 planes with he MG and got the achievement :D Keep in mind when the cutscene comes and ur teamate gets shooted then then u have the switch to MG again cuz i didnt know that and shooted a missile and the enemy used flares so i had to startover good luck over :D

Anyone trying this should deff. try to sync up the vids and then mute your TV, if it's perfectly synced you can just listen to the videos sounds and aslong as you keep your head in the right spots you just fire and flare when the vid does.
I got it after the second attempt. For anyone struggling and did it correctly the first time, make sure you don't use any checkpoint restarts if you miss one opportunity. In my second attempt I did a flawless run identical to this video and got it at the start of the next section.
This is the most ridiculous, pathetic thing I've had to do in order to earn an achievement since the "collect all alien captive recordings" on fallout 3. Like seriously, WTF?!? The purpose of a game is to have fun, and this is far away from that, it's just annoying... Thanks for the vid man!
@NaughtyBoy1994 I thought I did it wrong, but you have to wait until they stop talking. he cut that bit out and jumped to the bit where he gets the trophy, which was when i got mine. after you did everything, just wait till you get to that part of the video before you restart the whole thing.
From watching this, I'm seeing that as soon as he says dump flares, or flares out, do it at that exact moment. And while tracking an enemy plane to take it down, wait for it to at least dump its flares and fire as soon as the flares pass you. K, time to try this!
this mission is impossible i synced it with my ps3 fired at the same time and it didnt work. the mission is different everytime and you have to shoot at different times everytime you redo the mission. if you do it right they should give you a platinum trophy because its fucking immpossible.

I completed it with 8 missiles by the way (on easy). Fired two on the 7th bogey and just waited for the next cinematic and pop it went. I really wish though DICE would allow skipping cinematic sequences. Waiting 5 minutes a time is taking the piss.

one minor update, apart from me having to wait till 3rd flare drop in first kill the rest of this works perfectly. got it just fine. guys if you can't get that first kill his way wait till 3rd flare drop is off screen then shoot that fucker.
I did it!!! I had the laptop on my lap, tv behind laptop so screens matched up in time. RUclips video set to about half a second delay. seeing as I do a lot of flying, I see this mission and it's trophy more difficult than the actual thing.

Thanks man, much better than those A-holes on Achievement Hunter. I think people who don't get this Acheive/Trophy to pop probably need to read your instructions properly, even a quick blast on the cannon means a fail.
@Wozamil gotta disagree your first missile hit is impossible to replicate for me. theres always flares last second before hit. you got lucky, half a second sooner or later and you would have been inspecting flaps again.
Yeah im going to try this tomorrow (last achievement for solo campaign). Iv noticed that you need to wait 4 seconds for 1st 4th 6th and 7th and other the other ones you can shoot right away. Thanks for the vid, hope i get it!
Doing this right now but the odd thing is that first guy i cant get him when u fire in the vid. He dumps a few more flares and then i can hit him and yes i am on easy. lol. This vid is helpful though.

To everybody, u can skip the cutscene at the beginning and also if u mess up u can restart mission from ingame menu you dont have to quit like this guy says, thumb up so people can see, glad to b a help :)

i locked onto the first MiG, and waited until the flares were gone. i fired, then he dumped flares. the missile continued straight on and hit the guy, yet my pilot said it went for the flares?
2 tries, I watched the video about 2 or 3 seconds ahead while my brother played; told him when to fire & release the flares and which plane to lock onto, guess it really was a wingman mission haha

Lame that you can't restart the Checkpoint and simply restart right when the first 2 MiGs show up...having to sit through the cutscenes again each time you don't get it is so tedious...

thanks I synced it to ur video exactly. it helps if u pay attention to the sound of when the missiles r fired so that way u can keep ur eye on the target.

Thx, worked the first time, the way I've done it was even more simple then sync with game... use pause game technique and you will have no problem ;)

Quick question - does the achievement demand anything as far as using flares go, or can we use them as much as we want as long as we don't get hit?
@viesis2 It depends on what mode your playing you have to keep firing and write down when the hit was successful. I'm playing on hard and get this trophy.
this is soooooooooooooooooo stupid ive done it like 6 times i get to the 6th guy and fire after 2 flares and he can apparently dump another instantly
I just chucked in my headphones, tv on mute.. Then just fired as u fired. Done it first try that way, after about 10 tries using other tactics
nice, so timing the rockets fire just as the enemies deployed flare goes past you before he has time to recharge his flares again... makes sense

twice i got 2 the last plane and hit the shoot button a second early... got the achievement on my 4th try, syncin the vid makes it waaay easier

Seriously, the first plane, even if you half a second off when firing, you'll miss. I suggest either wait or be ready to be REALLY frustrated.

Roosterteeth did a video where they used 6/7 kills minigun. You Don't need only missiles..you made this way harder then its supposed to be.
This is by far the most exciting mission of the game. It felt so intense and realistic I started to think I was actually in the cockpit!
I killed the last plane and I was like "Fuck yea, gonna get the trophy"...then I dropped my controller and a flare was launched...
At the very end i had a perfect run. Nothing could go wrong.
I "accidentally" press L1. (flares) no trophy, no platinum, no hope.
Thank you! I wasn't looking hard left for the 2nd plane and kept only getting 4 in the 1st segment. That was the missing link.

Wow this seems easy before I saw this I just dumped a whole bunch and a lot of missile and it crashed into me literally LOL
Took me like 2-3 hours to do this. I just copied the video exactly pausing the game after every missile I hit. Thank you!!

My thanks guy, the missiles were extremely difficult. Took me a couple tries, but was successful a few moments ago.
